A quarter ... back in the 60's, to a 3 year old, that was some serious money.
I got shit
$10.
I'm rich, bitch!
Don't remember.. my sister tied one end of some dental floss to my tooth one time though and the other end to a bedroom door before slamming it shut to remove one one time. I give my daughter five "gold" coins from the bank. Apparently they have golden silver dollars now.
Probably about 2p back in the day. Violet jr no3 lost her front tooth last week and got £2 - double the usual but unfortunately the tooth fairy forgot the first night and a sobbing child in the morning made for guilt money.
My parents weren't generous
Good gosh, I can remember A dream I had when I was 3-4ish but nothing on toothfairy dollars. Memory sure is selective.
About tree fidy.
$1 and nightmares
Nothing. My mom did not finish the self discovery process till very late. around menopause she gave me few dolls so I asked for money she owes me since I was six. I made like 500 pounds for emotional extorsion of the late Fairy
25 cents!!
25 or50 cents, then a dollar. It was so exciting! Fond childhood memory.
@Cleo.. ooh! I gotta hear about this dream now :p
Nothing compared to what my dentist gets when he replaces my teeth!
Unlike Lilly and her $100 bill, I got$1. Must be awesome to have gay parents.
Kidding...it was dark and Cam gave her the wrong bill. Which (as a 4/5yo she immediately put in her clutch and refused to give back).
The next time I groggily caught Nana putting the money under my pillow (her lack of stealth money placement could have been do to too many screwdrivers). When I woke up the next morning I was all "I SAW UUUUUU...there is no tooth fairy!"
She didn't appreciate the mockful tone and I got NOTHING for any further teeth. Doesn't pay to b a smart ass.
1$
10 cents. Yeah, it was a very long time ago.
A quarter.
There was a funny story on "This American Life" where this girl hears from her friend Kim that her dad put money under her pillow when she lost a tooth.
She tells her mom, "I know who the tooth fairy is". And her mom looks at her nervously and asks who. She answers, "Kim's Dad!"
As the parent of a child who is nearing the tooth-loss age, let me say that this shit is out of hand. Parents name their kid's individual tooth fairies, leave glitter-covered notes under the pillow and give too much cash per tooth. Personally, I think they're doing it as much for Facebook and Pinterest's sake as much as, or maybe more than, for their kids. It's out of control.
A Silver Dollar
That stinks. No, shit really stinks, I hope whoever did it was at least considerate enough not to leave it under your pillow
Seeing as that was around 1970...I'd guess a quarter, which woulda been a STACK back in the day :)
Haaaa, @ Ray Nicolet!
Love it: "tree Fidy."
Chef's parents went on and on about that dang tree fidy, didn't they?!
A quarter
I believe I got $5, and back then it was enough to go to the movies!!!
A silver dollar. They were always in supply due to Mom, Dad, Grandma & Grandpa's frequent Reno trips. (That should have been my first clue, right?)
Thank you!!! I was hoping someone would get that!
I blame Nessie ;)
$1.00, then $5.00 for the molars.
25 cents.
However, I once lost a tooth while spending the night at Grandma's. Then I got $1.56 (or something like that - a dollar plus change)
I got a big shiny quarter. My kids get a buck, but my idiot SIL gave my daughter $8 when she lost a tooth while spending the night at her house. I told DD the tooth fairy was drunk, and it probably wouldn't happen again. LOL
It was so long ago that I am just guessing it was a quarter.
LOLOLOLOLOL
I used to give my daughter €2.The trick to forgetting is to go maybe the tooth fairy dropped it down the side of your bed let's go check and have the money in your hand.saved me more than once!
There was no tooth fairy (just like there was no Santa Claus); my parents made sure we were aware gifts and money came from them. Later in the day after I lost my tooth, I had to help my dad by shoveling the sidewalk while he did the driveway. As we finished, he gave me a "special" quarter for having lost my tooth. It was a brand new bicentennial quarter, and it was the prettiest quarter I had ever seen. Friends of mine bragged they got a dollar a tooth, and I was jealous, but that quarter was pretty cool. (I still get excited when I find a bicentennial quarter in my change.)
Are you kidding? Who the hell can remember that long ago! However, i still have a baby tooth and am 44.
I wish it was worth $1500, because that is the cost of the i pal t i am going to need to replace it when. It finally comes out.
50 cents, eventually a dollar. My son gets a loonie, it will be a toonie eventually.
I know some people who give their kid $30-$40!! My jaw hit the floor when they told me that shit.
25 cents.
