Nah, wasnt any big thing when i was teen. But being a hippie in college in '68 on was one huge, awesome adventure ! Oh man, what fun we had! Oh the adventures and misadventures! I wouldnt trade those years for anything.
When I was a teenager, people went with their families. My parents weren't vacationers. They both grew up during the depression. (I was born when they were 45 and 55.
South Padre Island. Threw my bikini top off of the balcony (yes, there were many others in the condo with me when I did this). Never did get the top back. Had to borrow a friend's bathing suit the rest of the week. That was the morning....
No. But if I ever go back to Bike Week in Daytona, instead of going Weds-Sun, I'm going Fri-Tues, so I can catch the beginning of Spring Break week.
When I was waiting around Sunday for cab to airport, there were tons of "too young for bars" bimbos running around the hotel. They hang out at the pool for events, and constantly are up and down from their rooms, pouring drinks.
Them kids have it good too. With all the bikers leaving Sat and Sun, they halls of the hotel are littered with 1/2 cases and 30pks of beer. Saturday my buddies and I collected a bunch, then we gave some room full of tools about 4 cases of beers Sunday morning before we checked out.
I had a pretty crazy spring break in New Orleans a few years back. Got really drunk, groped male gogo dancers, visited a strip club at 3pm, bought coke from random men on the street, smoked blunts in a bathtub, took pictures laying face down in an alley, danced on bars, drank waaay too much and rode mechanical bulls. It was fun, but I've had crazier times at parties during the summer or semester.
Cancun in the 90's. Have the whack Mexican tattoo still. And, yes I have been tested for the Hep! Makes me cringe now. Repressed American students, cheap liquor, casual sex and lots of bad choices. Ah, the memories.
Not on Spring Break but definitely other times. Got kicked out of a strip club for trying to dance with the strippers after blacking out on Long Island iced teas. LOL gawd my twenties are pretty much a blur!!
No spring break wildness, but I had a few memorable evenings at other times. My idea of partying hard in college was staying up all night debating Bush vs. Clinton.
I was a wild one so in the 80s when half the school went to Daytona and Ft Lauderdale, my parents sent me to spend the week with my grandparents in Michigan. Cue the violins lol
Considering how out of control I was, it was probably a really good idea.
Toooo many! I'm surprised I wasn't killed by the strangers we'd meet. We were just big teases tho no sex, just making out with randoms from 14-20. Scary, huh? I grew up in a small town, and everyone started drinking at age 16. No drugs tho for me....
nah. usually went to visit family out of town.
ReplyDeletenormal party week was after exams, plus there was stuff going on every week.

DeleteWe didn't even have Spring Break where I went to school.
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of it until our local cable company started carrying MTV in 1989.
Yep! Went on a wild & crazy cruise trip complete with blackouts, smuggling mexican weed on the ship, and a hot hookup.
ReplyDeleteNo judgement guys...it was college!

ReplyDeleteWe don't need to wait for spring break to take our bikini top off on the beach ;-)

All apologies Candyland but for some reason I thought you were a guy.
ReplyDeleteMakes your story even more comical :)
That's really funny Bacon! I can only imagine the chuckle that gave you. Been a chick since birth. No plans on changing!
ReplyDeleteNo, but I've watched "Where The Boys Are" many times.
ReplyDeleteNo :-(. Everybody knew each other, and each other's parents. For sure I would run into someone who knew my family at SPI.

What AsileM said. *sigh* those were the days.
ReplyDeleteExcept I don't have a tattoo (unlike AsileM).
ReplyDeleteI signed paperwork saying I wouldn't talk about it. But it was awesome.

No! Not one! But I've made up for that sad fact A LOT in my lifetime. *G*
ReplyDeleteOh. Yes. A few of them. Sometimes I miss those days.
