Matt Lauer Signs Today Show Extension
Sorry Ryan Seacrest, it doesn't look like you will be filling Matt Lauer's shoes on Today for a few years. NBC signed Lauer to an extension yesterday which will keep the host in place for several more years. He will continue to make cajillions of dollars a year for a show that has lost its mojo and to a guy that not many people on the show like. Of course if Matt doesn't like them they end up canned so everyone pretends to love Matt. He has been the host of the show since 1997 and the contract will take him through year 20. Katie Couric was a host for 15 years which was the previous record. Waking up at 3am for so many years must be something your body gets used to. I wonder if he just sleeps through his entire vacations. Of course, making $25M a year and having someone drive you to work every morning makes those early morning alarms a little easier to handle.

Creepy McCreeperson is creepy and continues to be make money by being creepy.
Whaaaaaaat?? I thought he's been on his way out forever! He must have some AWESOME shite on someone!
Who watches morning network television?
OK, I understand *I'm* the weird one, but seriously....who are these people?
The Lech Vibe is strong in this one.
LOL @Riven. Me too/neither.
NONONONO Why ?
I've only seen bits and pieces of his work but he makes me want to reach for my handy can of DoucheBeGone.
I see his audience isn't currently posting here. Maybe they're at bingo.
Do people really care about this stuff? I always see coverage about the morning shows and don't see all the hoo-haw about the "scandals". In Canada we have our own morning shows and there is never drama etc.
Matt Lauer is a smug tool.
But he got owned by AnnE Hathaway, and the universe is still trying to pay her back.
A post appeared and then disappeared, so odd!
@TTM, which one?
Could never stand him. Have never watched that show.
A whole Reader Photo post with all new pictures
Enty seems jealous.
And Kno, I and a cheap ass bitch who won't pony up for cable, so I am one of "those people". LOL
I've never watched his show. I grew up with ABC & Good Morning America being on as a kid. Hubby & I usually watch FOX with Greg & Rosanna since they're so goofy.
I stopped watching network morning shows when Jane Pauley left. I still can't stand Matt Lauer.
Also can't stand Matt Lauer. Can't believe they kept him on. What are they reading to do this? Ratings are down. Nobody likes him. Bad move.

Matt is the guy who is a complete ass in bed but acts like he is just awesome.
Looking at his face on this posting 'literally made my vag dry up'.
<>
Saying 'literally made my vag dry up' is making me think of Chris Traeger. lol
He's glib.
That he is @Brenda
Can't stand the morning shows. They are nothing but shills for people promoting their tv shows/movies/books/music, etc.
what Riven said
he's creepy
I can't even watch this anymore-quit about 2 yrs ago
I remember when he started how popular he was and he really seemed like a nice guy at the time. Now he's a egomaniacal douche. I just don't understand why NBC doesn't realize how much he is disliked and that they need a huge shakeup at this time.
Why is NBC shooting themselves in the foot by keeping him on? They have to know how unpopular he is. My parents who have watched the Today Show for decades switched over to GMA after the Anne Curry thing. I guess they like the lower ratings?
TTM have you had your coffee today hun? Jk Maybe Enty had a nude selfie in there by accident so he had to take it down
What is wrong with NBC that Ryan Kartrashian would EVER be in the running for any type of serious news job? Imagine another 9/11 happened, Matt did a great job because he's a real journalist. Ryan wouldn't have a clue what to do. He's WAY out of his league.
I don't know, Lauer doesn't bother me, a slickster who is easy to ignore. I watch because I love, love Willie Geist.
Too funny! Loved when Tommy Girl told him that!
See, this is great. It gives all of us working in local news something to shoot for. I've been doing this for seven years, and still make under $35K a year. Someday, the pay day will come.
Is that you in your avi, LogDog? That's awesome!
That was a cold day, I'm glad it's summer now.
