    2. Maybe the fact that a young man, who had his whole life to look forward to, died is a tragedy and deserves to be mentioned.
A 98 year old actor who had achieved everything he could, and was very successful and loved, isn't such a tragedy. It's the natural order of things.
If you can't muster some sympathy for this young man there is something wrong.
I hope he rests in peace.

  8. Hey guys. I've been toying with an idea: this is the post we all kinda greet on, being the first and all, but some of us are up sooner due to time zone differences and / or small bladders, what would you think about a Bookie Wook morning post? Also because this is where we get trolled periodically for alls the OT. Just an idea, if it's stupid I won't even worry about it.

  9. More than likely Enty didn't know Eli Wallach passed because it wasn't on TMZ, this was.
I liked Caleb on Survivor. He was with that horrid little prick Colton. I seriously wanted to throw that shit in the fire or drown him.

    On that note, morning everyone:)

  10. Im sure his family thinks so too @FSP. But this is an entertainment site and Eli Wallach was one of the greatest CHARACTER actors of all-time and deserves recognition over somebody who nobody ever heard of.

  11. Violet he's got so many credits there are too many to list--hundreds if not thousand stage, screen and televsion. He was still working on things a few years ago even in his 90s. He was married to Anne Jackson and they usually worked together on projects.

  14. +1, @FSP! Jesus, Sandy, did someone piss in your Cornflakes this morning? How about you give us a rating system every time someone dies so we can know on a scale of 1-10 how much respect we should give to the deceased?

  15. nothing like waking up to a sad story. R.I.P. @Violet for a more recent reference on Eli Wallach, "THE HOLIDAY"! He played the old Hollywood screenwriter(?)/neighbor who Kate Winslet & Jack Black befriends.

  20. Violet--Eli Wallach grew up in my neighborhood way before me obviously and he is one of the most famous alumni of my High School (and there are many, mny including Brbra Streisand). HJe had other contributiuons to show business besides acting in it--he founded The Actor's Studio too.

  21. Well, I kinda get where sandy was going with that: important actor with decades long history of quality and significant work, but rather enty posts someone from a reality show that not too many people know of. The old:who died when someone else died that nobody noticed a la Princess Di and Mother Theresa. HOWEVER, once you call a 26-year-old dead man a piece of shite, anything you say after is gonna be wrong.

  22. I dn't kno who either guy is.

  31. I loved that character Eli Wallach played in the Holiday! RIP

And I remember this Survivor contestant.... His fiance (on the show) was waaaaay too over-the-top emotional. Was glad to see him take himself out. But Caleb, we liked him. Rooted for him to get to final 3. It's sad that he's died and in a tragic way. RIP

  38. He was a sweetie. Poor kid.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Well I don't watch survivor, so I don't know who this guy is. And I googled Eli, And I have literally not watched anything he has been in, so I don't know him either.
That being said, a 26 year old dying in an accidental death is (imo) far more tragic than a 98 year old dying of old are surrounded by loved ones.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @It's just U, very well said.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Very sad. I didn't watch the show. Word around the Ham is that he was a super nice guy. :-(

  42. Anonymous2:23 PM

I understand what Sandy is saying. The death of a particular person may not be important to some people, but is to others, and it can be infuriating when it isn't acknowledged or is quickly forgotten about. People die just as tragically as Caleb daily, and they don't get even a blurb about their lives or accomplishments, even when they've done things far more noteworthy than appear on a reality TV show.

And for the recored, nobody deserves to die, be they two or two hundred. 98 may seem "old enough" to some, but I'm sure it's no less painful for Eli's loved ones than it is for Caleb's. If we're gonna go as far as to say that the death of an elderly person isn't a big deal, then we could say that for everyone because the truth is we all die, but we just don't know when it will happen

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is pretty sad. Caleb was a very sweet, humble guy. His fiance, Colton was a huge drama queen, but Caleb was liked by pretty much everyone.

He was very young to die, they were going to get married this year, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  44. What a way to go. I hope he was on his way home after having a very fun trip rather than just starting his adventure. I read on another site that he was between cars as the train derailed and was crushed by the cars. Think of the split second you're between cars as you open those heavy doors and step quickly to the next car.
