Damn shame. She's a gorgeous woman.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she can share a room with Guilana.

DeleteHow is Portia able to hide her anorexia? I see pics of her, and I can even tell you she is. Ellen lives with her. Doesn't Ellen ever notice that she doesn't eat?
ReplyDeleteExactly. Which means they don't spend any time together. Portia could be dead and found by an assistant before Ellen figures it out.
DeleteDerek Harvey FTW!
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame. I loved her in Ally McBeal. And AD.
Well Ellen, you married a woman who has struggled with anorexia for decades at this point. Geez. It's not like the poor woman can help it. It's a mental illness.
ReplyDeletePortia might think she is hiding it, but I think those close to her know.
ReplyDeleteUh...how does one hide ribs & hip bones from the person they sleep with? Unless she sleeps in a duvet and showers in a robe, it can't be hidden.
ReplyDeleteI don't think tough love works with anorexics.
ReplyDeleteAnd according to rumor Ellen is also abusive towards her.
ReplyDeletePoor thing. Wish she could get a grip on this. It's sad.
ReplyDeleteHIDE? IT'S PRETTY OBVIOUS SHE DOESN'T EAT.
ReplyDeleteSo sad. Hope she gets better. I thought she was an drunk. My bad.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder Ellen is alleged to be hiring hookers.
ReplyDelete@Lotta, I loved her on AD!
ReplyDeleteE said before that Ellen was an abusive spouse, and now she's leaving her wife because of anorexia. Sure thing.
At least it wasn't the Sofia Vergara thing.
See the pics. It's obviously she always was anorexic
ReplyDeleteThis is stupid.
ReplyDeleteBeing anorexic is a sickness, not a hobby...Do you break up with someone bc they have sore throat or cancer...?
If Portia DeR does have, and denies it or refuses treatment, may be, but you don't threaten to break up bc of a disease like that...

DeleteI find this insulting the way this blind is written and probably not very accurate.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably very unlikely that Ellen wouldn't be aware that PDR was anorexic. She has a known history of it and the way the blind is written it could also mean that she is trying to or believes she is hiding it. That doesn't mean her wife doesn't know or care.
Also we know nothing about what has happened in the past. I would imagine that living with and loving someone with anorexia would be hard on the SO as well as the one with the eating disorder. That doesn't mean Ellen gave her an ultimatum. If they almost broke up isn't possible she just couldn't handle it? In the same way addiction is a disease it's hard to watch someone you love destroy themselves while you can not fix them.
I wish PDR the best and I don't believe Ellen is some horrible spouse.
You cant hide that, u really cant. Hope she gets well.
ReplyDelete@Lo Mo - addiction is also a disease and unfortunately it is very difficult to live with someone who has some of these diseases. I'll try to explain it this way - I do believe that most people hae a pre-disposition for certain addictive diseases, mental illness, etc. If you know that, then you should be very vigilant and not subject yourself to potential disease. I can compare it to cancer in this way, you have a family history of breast cancer and you have lost your mother, aunts, grandmother, and an older sister. I'm guessing you are going to do everything you can to watch for it so that at the very least you can detect it early right? Or how about this example - you have a strong family history of having skin cancer but instead of taking measures to try and shrink your potential for developing skin cancer you instead use no sunscreen or protection, sunbathe for hours daily and use a tanning bed. In that situation I can't feel so sorry for you. Just like the person who has been diagnosed with early stages of lung cancer but then continues to smoke 2 packs a day. Apparently they don't care about themselves so why should you? Should you have to sit there and take care of them and watch them die? Same goes for mental illnesses. It's one thing if the person is seeing a psychiatrist and taking the neds to keep the illness in check as much as possible. But what if they don't want to do that? Should you have to stay and be abused because they have "an illness?"
ReplyDeleteThere are two sides is all I'm saying.
There was an article in one of those crappy weekly mags (one of the ones that just makes shit up, like Star) -- it read that basically Portia was miserable with Ellen (and that Ellen is not such a great person). Portia gets close to leaving all the time, and Ellen showers her with lavish gifts/treatment to keep her under her (Ellen's) wing. IDK, b/c those magazines are crap. But I could see this being true.
ReplyDeleteI still think Ellen is the reveal for that Blind Item a year or two ago about the talk show host who drinks non-stop and is awful. IDK why, she just looks weird (mean?) behind the eyes. I could see her whole kindness schtick being an act.
Thought that was Chelsea

ReplyDeleteI agree, it is extremely difficult to maintain a healthy relationship with someone who doesn't like or respect themselves. But, never underestimate the importance or power of compassion.
She thinks she's hiding it.
ReplyDeletePortia wrote a biography and got pretty into her eating disorder and how it has impacted her life. It is no secret.
ReplyDeleteShe really never saw her beauty she always thought she was less than to everyone else.
Has anyone considered, that as with any addiction/disorder, relapses are most likely to occur, be triggered, due to emotional distress, unhappiness?
ReplyDeleteAccording to previous blinds/reveals, Ellen has been unfaithful to her wife.
If anything is going to kick off a relapse, it would be something like this.
She needs compassion (and Tx), not judgement and ultimatums.
Speaking as someone who has dealt with mental illness/addiction literally all of my life - my father has been an alcoholic since before I was born and I've had an eating disorder for 15 years (in recovery for the last 3.5 years) - there's a point when the patient needs to choose to help themselves.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what's going on in Ellen/Portia's relationship. But in my experience, mental illness can be as difficult to deal with in a family member as it is in yourself. My own illness was born in the trauma of dealing with my father's. He's gone through inpatient rehab, outpatient rehab, countless AA meetings where he's introduced me to fake sponsors who support his habit. He's lied to me, screamed at me, made me cry and curse him and hate him. I had 2 interventions for him, just me, and two interventionists (who were physicians, like he is) because I was terrified he was treating patients while drunk and everyone else in my family was either in denial or decided it wasn't their problem anymore. The first time, he stopped drinking for 6 months before he started drinking again. The second has held for over 2 years, but only because he actually put in effort too this time.
I promise you that some of those days with my dad were just as bad as the days I purged 7 times or only ate a yogurt and half a can of chicken broth because my thighs were almost touching again, and I absolutely hated myself for it.
If nothing else, 5 years of therapy has taught me that boundaries are incredibly important in relationships. You can only do so much for a person before you start to do irreparable damage to yourself.
Again, I don't really follow their relationship gossip. But if Ellen is thinking about leaving Portia because of her illness, don't be so quick to judge her solely on that.
