I just watched Monuments Men and George Clooney is NOT my favorite director. Super corny movie that could have been great but wasn't. I blame Mr. Clooney's directing.
I like more Brad Pitt movies, but he was so awful in 12 Monkeys with the over-the-top psychiatric patient eye-rolling that I really can never think of him as a good actor, I always think of that awful portrayal.
Thelma and Louise - I told my parents at the theater while we were watching it, "He's going to be a big star!" (Same thing when we saw Gyllenhall in October Skies)
River Runs Through It
Clooney - Rosanne. oh, wait a minute...well, yeah...that's all I remember of him
I meant, I can never think of Brad as a good actor with his stupid over the top CROSS-EYED portrayal in 12 Monkeys, an otherwise outstanding movie.
And I agree with Sugar about Monuments Men -- it's a movie that stays with you forever because it's based on a true story, but the script and acting was terrible. I mean at places it played like a fucking sit-com with jokes or gags you could see a mile coming. All it needed was a laff track.
My husband and I have both enjoyed many Brad Pitt movies. He jokes about how I waited until he left town to watch Legends of the Fall. Other than O Brother Where Art Thou, I just don't get Clooney's movies. Brad is more entertaining to watch, but he does move around a lot in his movies, like some acting coach told him not to just stand there. Clooney always looks like he's doing Joey Tribiani smell the fart acting.
I'm a superficial bitch. It has nothing to do with acting talent (I don't actually have a favorite Clooney movie). It comes down to looks and brains, so it's George by a mile
I think both are very limited as actors (but charismatic and photogenic, which is more important for movie stars), but have made good choices with scripts and directors. I love 'The Assassination of Jesse James...' and 'Killing Them Softly', and I like 'Se7en', 'Fight Club' and 'Tree of Life'. But I think Pitt should focus on producing now. Something has shifted in the past few years, I don't know whether he's now disinterested in acting or vain about ageing, but he's become self-conscious on camera. For Clooney, I like 'The Thin Red Line', 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' and 'Fantastic Mr. Fox'. He may pick worthy projects to direct, but he's a poor director. I'd choose Pitt as an actor, but I prefer Clooney's attitude to his fame and public persona.
You know what? I dint think either of them has been bad in a movie. They have been in bad movies, but they're never bad. Thats why they are stars i guess.
Clooney: 'O Brother Where Art Thou' hands down without question. That movie is SUCH a great flick! (Honorable Mention goes to the wonderful 'Decsendants')
Pitt: Hmm. So many to choose from...I'd say it's probably 'Meet Joe Black' (omg, the FEELS from that film!) but 'Inglorious Basterds' is also incredible albeit in a very different way.
Thelma and Louise is the only movie where I liked Pitt. I have never watched another entire film that he is in and don't understand his appeal. I am drawn to Clooney like a moth to the light. I particularly like his small projects... Up in the Air, Fantastic Mr. Fox.Syriana, and my all time favorite Three Kings( where it all began for me)
@Blasie Have you heard Clooney's story about the making of 'Three Kings', re. his fight with the director David O. Russell? It reflects well on Clooney.
@ msgirl, "Oh Brother.." is a Coen Bro's film... LOVED it and it's my fav film now. also enjoyed "The Descendants".
I couldn't finish "Legends of the Fall" because it was so damn sad but damn he was hot..Favorite would be hands down "Snatch". He was so funny in that.
Brad is a much better actor..I cant choose between fight club and twelve monkeys or Kalifornia . All of which he was great in. Clooney is always just Clooney
I don't care for either but if I had to pick one I'd pick Clooney. Brad has become just too weird lately. The kids, Angelina, the facial hair. At least Clooney always looks good and dresses well. And his movies are better than Brad's too.
Can I say Facts of Life, even though the episodes Clooney were in were the drizzling shits? Once they left Eastland, it just became weird that they all wanted to stay together and form "Edna's Edibles", wonder what of Edna's was edible and to who (Always suspected Natalie as the closet lesbian but Blair might've been hiding something with all her dates yet never finding anyone to settle down with).
Oh and can't stand either of them. Both are pompous ass holes who believe that unless you vote or think exactly like them, you are a subhuman.
I realize no one is reading his thread anymore but I have to comment.
Clooney: Dusk til Dawn, Oceans 11 Pitt: Legends, Seven, River Runs Thru It.
My Brad over George any day of the week. I actually like George, but Brad is my secret lovah. As Jen once said (on Oprah?), "I like short hair Brad, long hair Brad, all Brads."
Ocean's 11
ReplyDeleteBam.
I have never loved a Clooney movie. I like Brad better-- and Fight Club of course is his best.
ReplyDeleteOut Of Sight is my fave Clooney Movie
ReplyDeleteFight Club is Brad!
Love them both.
I also like 12 Monkeys, Benjamin Buttons, Seven, Thelma and Louise and Kalifornia.

ReplyDeleteAgree…on Out of Sight…love Clooney
ReplyDeleteOceans 11 is good Meet Mr. Black is good. I think Bradley is the better actor.
ReplyDeleteWhat's in the box? What's in the box?
ReplyDelete@FSP This never gets old! Love me some Shatner :)
DeleteClooney: Ocean's 11
ReplyDeletePitt: Fight Club
Pitt (with Fincher) >> Clooney
I haven't seen Fight Club, I really should fix that! Love him in Twelve Monkeys and True Romance.
ReplyDeleteCLooney - I'm actually not a huge fan, but - oh darn it, senior moment - the Tarantino movie with him obsessed with his hair!
Clooney: Return to Horror High
ReplyDeletePitt: Mr & Mrs Smith
Pitt > Clooney
@VIP I agree. Pitt has a more diverse resume. Some of Clooney's movies are too much alike.
DeleteThe Ocean movies and Burn After Reading. They're both in all four.
ReplyDeleteI would tell you my favorite Brad Pitt movie but I'm not allowed to talk about it.
Legends of the fall for brad
ReplyDeleteOut of sight for clooney
Duh O Brother, Where Art Thou? that's the name!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it took this long into the thread before someone named "O Brother".
DeleteGeorge. By a million miles. Whichever movie he wears the least in.
ReplyDeleteBrad Pitt. He smiles and I forget about everything.
ReplyDeleteOceans 11 and I've been a Clooney girl since I was 11 so it works. Only one I've loved longer is RDJ
ReplyDeleteOne Fine Day.
ReplyDeleteMoneyball.
If he's clean shaven, I prefer Brad.
Based on the work Clooney-the Descendants, based on the film-Up in the Air
ReplyDeletePitt-interview w/ a vampire/River Runs through It
Ocean's 11 for Clooney and Fight Club for Pitt. However, The Mexican wins for Brad's look. Damn he is fine in that movie! Too bad Julia is in it!
ReplyDeleteI prefer Brad over George.
I just watched Monuments Men and George Clooney is NOT my favorite director. Super corny movie that could have been great but wasn't. I blame Mr. Clooney's directing.
ReplyDeletePlus I hate the way Clooney always has that weird head shake thing going on. Like he's a bobble head on a tight spring.
DeleteClooney - Return of the Killer Tomatoes.
ReplyDeletePitt - Thelma & Louise
@Gayeld A++ Clooney throwback. I usually say my favorite Leo movie is Critters 3.
DeleteClooney:Out of Sight- he made J.Lo look good in that.
ReplyDeletePitt: Mr & Mrs. Smith. Completely funny and hot.
I'd take Pitt any day. Mostly I just see Clooney playing Clooney these days.
Pitt-Fight Club
ReplyDeleteClooney-Ocean's 11
Pitt>Clooney
Clooney just seems really fake and scripted to me. Brad seems a bit fake, but he doesn't seem to take himself or his image too seriously.
ReplyDeleteUsed to love me some Clooney, but I dumped him for Mike Rowe.
ReplyDeleteClooney: O Brother Where Art Thou (mah hair..)
Pitt: Mr. & Mrs. Smith & Oceans 11

ReplyDeletePitt: Fight Club
ReplyDeleteClooney: The Descendants
Pitt > Clooney
Brad Pitt: The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club
ReplyDeleteClooney: The Ides of March
Pitt over Clooney
@Lotta Word
DeleteYasssss!
DeletePitt / Fight Club
ReplyDeleteInterview with the vampire is a close 2nd
I like more Brad Pitt movies, but he was so awful in 12 Monkeys with the over-the-top psychiatric patient eye-rolling that I really can never think of him as a good actor, I always think of that awful portrayal.
ReplyDeleteBrad Pitt: Seven
ReplyDeleteClooney: Dusk til dawn
Me too Dragon!

ReplyDeleteNeither. What loathsome choices.
I loved Inglourious and Up in the Air and they both came out the same year. Over time Inglourious holds up as an even stronger piece of filmmaking.
ReplyDeleteBrad's acting was good in Legends of the Fall. Mr. And Mrs. Smith was hot.
ReplyDeleteClooney is always Clooney with his little quirks. Out of Sight was pretty good, but JLo made that movie. Don't hate.
PITT - by a landslide
ReplyDeleteLegends Of The Fall
Thelma and Louise - I told my parents at the theater while we were watching it, "He's going to be a big star!" (Same thing when we saw Gyllenhall in October Skies)
River Runs Through It
Clooney - Rosanne. oh, wait a minute...well, yeah...that's all I remember of him
Brad when he was young hottt.
ReplyDeleteHow can one choose from the stars in the sky?
ReplyDeleteI meant, I can never think of Brad as a good actor with his stupid over the top CROSS-EYED portrayal in 12 Monkeys, an otherwise outstanding movie.

Seven for Pitt.
ReplyDeleteI would not stand in line for any Clooney movie.
Pitt wins.

ReplyDeleteO Brother Where Art Thou......Clooney. Inglorious Bastards and Joe Black for Brad.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Michael K at DListed, George and his fiance got a marriage license in London. A reader sent in a photo.
ReplyDeleteClooney...Three Kings
ReplyDeletePitt...Interview
I'll take a Clooney movie any day over a Pitt movie. I did like Pitt in the first two Ocean's movies and he was good in Burn After Reading.
ReplyDeleteClooney - Out of Sight, One Fine Day, Three Kings, Fantastic Mr. Fox, From Dusk Till Dawn, Ocean's One and Two and The Descendants.
Favorite movie includes both Pitt and Clooney: Burn After Reading...but
ReplyDeletePitt > Clooney
Clooney over Pitt all day long.
ReplyDeleteDescendants or Up in the Air ( such a sweet movie).
Pitt, Legends of the Fall and 12 Monkeys
ReplyDeleteI really can't even think of a Clooney movie I love.
I knew one of the enties was Canadian! This has been a recent advertisement for nighttime TV movie- George or Brad..!!!
ReplyDeletePitt - money ball
ReplyDeleteClooney - facts of life
I'm a superficial bitch. It has nothing to do with acting talent (I don't actually have a favorite Clooney movie). It comes down to looks and brains, so it's George by a mile
Clooney: Return of the Killer Tomatoes.
ReplyDeletePitt: Sevem, despite his presence and Goopy's.
Pitt's chosen better movies, but he is a worse actor. F word both.
I think both are very limited as actors (but charismatic and photogenic, which is more important for movie stars), but have made good choices with scripts and directors.
ReplyDeleteI love 'The Assassination of Jesse James...' and 'Killing Them Softly', and I like 'Se7en', 'Fight Club' and 'Tree of Life'. But I think Pitt should focus on producing now. Ocean's 11 and the Decendants for Clooney
ReplyDeleteFight Club and Tree of Life for Brad
Clooney-The Descendants
ReplyDeletePitt-Legends of the Fall
Clooney -- One Fine Day (he was adorable in this!!)/O Brother ("Mahh hair!!")
ReplyDeletePitt -- Meet Joe Black (the PB scene Swooooon!!!)/Legends of the Fall
Clooney/Pitt -- Ocean's 11 ("Ted Nugent called...he wants his shirt back" lol)
oh and Clooney is slightly > Pitt
ReplyDeletebut almost dead even to me
Hands down, for Pitt, A River Runs Thru it. Haunting. I liked clooney in perfect storm. Im not chosing ; like them both.
ReplyDeleteYou know what? I dint think either of them has been bad in a movie. They have been in bad movies, but they're never bad. Thats why they are stars i guess.
DeleteClooney: Dusk to Dawn (which he just happened to be in. I don't like Clooney so don't watch his movies)
ReplyDeletePitt: Fight Club.
Clooney: Ocean's 11
ReplyDeletePitt: 12 Monkeys, Legends of the Fall just for his hair and Julia Ormond!
For me it's one film for both: Burn After Reading. Clooney gets the edge in likability.
ReplyDeleteGood Night, And Good Luck & Seven.
ReplyDeleteClooney: 'O Brother Where Art Thou' hands down without question. That movie is SUCH a great flick! (Honorable Mention goes to the wonderful 'Decsendants')

Brad is a much better actor..I cant choose between fight club and twelve monkeys or Kalifornia . All of which he was great in. Clooney is always just Clooney
ReplyDeleteMichael Clayton, pants down. "I'm not the guy you kill; I'M the guy you PAY." Sexay! Plus, TILDA SWINTON!
ReplyDeleteThelma and Louise.
Pitt-True Romance
ReplyDeleteStill doesn't beat Fassy NSFW
Meh. Can I pick neither? I'd rather watch a Simon Pegg's ginger ass make me laugh for 2 hours.
ReplyDeleteoceans 11, inglorious basterds, pitt.
ReplyDeleteYoj, I wasn't aware of that. I'll have to Google it. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI don't care for either but if I had to pick one I'd pick Clooney. Brad has become just too weird lately. The kids, Angelina, the facial hair. At least Clooney always looks good and dresses well. And his movies are better than Brad's too.

Good Night, and Good Luck for my favorite Clooney film.
