Good
If the NFL benched everyone with law issues, there would be no one left to play (except Tebow, maybe).
Meanwhile, the NFLPA appeals the Ray Rice suspension.
Consistency is not Roger Goodell's strongest trait.
Prick. Start using condoms you child beating imbecile.
I need a grumpy cat meme for this.
Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers the money men come after you next.Maybe your govenors too. In the business world the only thing that matters is monnay! You snooze, you lose it.
For those out of the country who dont follow this--he got suspended yesterday because sponsors of the team and the NFL were pulling out if nothing was done. Radisson Hotels, Nike and Anheuser Busch.
Agree, Cleodacat.
There are so many bigger issues for me that stem from these recent NFL violence stories: Like how our entire country revolves around the NFL. And NOTHING will ever break that. Football just irks the living daylights out of me. And people always think I'm so abnormal because I have absolutely zero interest in any of it.
Why are these people worshipped? Why do they get paid so much money? Gah. Drives me insane. Positive thoughts...
Kno Won - The union rep is appealing the decision based on inconsistencies within the organization in regards to handling players whose behavior off the field is "unbecoming." *ahem* It's essentially an attempt to force the league into creating a defined process for handling these situations and defined consequences for the behavior. This unfortunate situation is going to be used to create a precedent for swifter handling of issues of this nature in the future.
Yay my sweet Tebow does no wrong
He needs a life coach and a parenting lessons.
intense pressure being Anheiser-Busch, Radisson, etc.. GM knew of this other incident before yesterday's press conference
+1
@Cleo,haha-They all WISH Tebow was on their team now
@Sandy,I was typing when you'd already posted about Sponsors.
Tebow is a terrible player so even if he is perceived as a good guy, nobody wants him on their team. JJ Watt is an amazing teammate and an all around good guy. I know this is the third or fourth time I've mentioned him in the last couple of days but he really is awesome.
And he's so danged adorable!
I don't care what their true motivation was, but I'm happy sponsors were pullin out. I'm sick and tired of violence against the innocent and powerless going unchecked in this society. Women, kids, animals. I'm just overwhelmed with a sense of sadness that this behavior goes unchecked and unpunished.
Beating children was the way our grandparents "managed" our parents when they were children. My parents did pretty much the same. It was acceptable. My parents pressured me to beat my children when they were young and were acting up. But, I knew that limiting their sugar intact was one of the keys to their actions. So, I managed their sugar and even found that fast food caused them to react fussy. So, no more. I fed them fruits and crackers every 2 hours to help them keep an even sugar intact balance. Vola! No more fussy kids that needed to be beaten!
Susan babe I'm with you. Zero interest in football and thank goodness same for the Opster.
David I suspect you don't beat your chirrens even at that odd time they do fuss. We've learned so much about how to raise kids, treat animals and more in the past 20 yrs. just no reason to lay your hands to discipline, make a point.
I have no problem with this - I just wish the same attention was being paid to the players who beat their wives/girlfriends. The sponsors need to put the same pressure on the NFL to address this problem. The child beating problem seems to have swept the wife beating problem under the rug.
I'm just curious - I've never worked with someone who was arrested for any kind of domestic abuse. How do regular companies deal with employees who are charged with this? Are they fired? Laid off? Or is it ignored?
As for spanking, I was spanked (bare bottom with my mom's hand) several times as a small child, as were my siblings. No welts, no bruising. She gave it up when we were old enough to outrun her and she moved on to grounding, etc. My dad never spanked us - he told me when I was an adult he was afraid he'd lose his temper and kill one of us (since he very seldom lost his temper, I assume he was more afraid of his own strength and that he would hurt us).
And The Seahawks <3
they can do no wrong
Go Hawks!
I'm conflicted. Thus far, he seems like a nice guy. He was upfront about what he did and seemed remorseful. He didn't hide or make excuses. However, the physical scars are terrible. I don't think he knows his own strength and should have known that from the very beginning. The first time he punished any of his kids, he should have known this. Also, as much as people tout him as a family man and Christian, his actions really don't appear that way. He has several children out of wedlock ( the most recent being a waitress who works at Seven in downtown Minneapolis - and I think that was the result of a hookup). Not that having kids out of wedlock should matter but it is the image of "Christian family man" that he is benefiting from apart from his football skills. I want to like him but there is all of that other stuff....
There is NO good reason to hit a child. Especially when we teach them not to hit? Its just crazy logic (read: none)
Parenting with Love and Logic, it works. Hitting is for people who dont have the words or tools to know better. The same people who have no coping and communication skills to talk to their children are probably the same people who lash out with fists (as adults) its a cycle and needs to stop.
Hopefully Adrian Peterson gets help and answers. And also, a vasectomy.
Just before the story of his injuring another child in the past while 'disciplining' broke,
he defiantly and disgustedly proclaimed he wasn't a child abuser.
The guilty conscience typically protests loudest.
Get all these losers out of the league. Every player in the NFL is replaceable without damaging the NFL product. Yes individual teams may be hurt if start running back or quarterback gets kicked out but wouldn't really stop the steamroller which is the NFL. I bet a lot of the bad behavior would go away if players knew owners/league were to really have a zero tolerance for bad conduct. No one has a right to play in the NFL. Time for owners to stand up on the right side.
'star' not start.
Hitting another person just baffles my brain. I don't have that instinct. I'd scream out a fuck fuck fuck at the top of my lungs, and maybe go walk into another room to take a deep breath. But to hit a person, especially a child. I just, I don't understand that process. Especially as a mom.
My girlfriend and her husband have an arrangement that when their children are driving one of them insane; the parent who is about to blow a fuse leaves the situation and the other parent takes over.
According to CNN, Reggie Bush sez he'll do same to daughter, but 'be careful not to leave marks '..somehow that makes it even creepier..the forethought and refusing to think there's an option. I always wish these bullies who hurt children, the elderly or animals would have to face someone twice their size.
Well said
I'm less disturbed by his actions than the public's reaction to them. Namely, the tacit or even full-throated support.
We are truly in our death throes as a society.
Slippery slope of appeasement. Give an inch to public hysteria and before you know it you are a mile down the road.
Yes, Rosie, go Hawks! Love Derrick Coleman.
The kid wasn't beaten..if more children did get the switch, belt, spanked etc. maybe there wouldn't be the generation of a-hole children there is now. Parents these days are a joke.
Count, i enjoy public hysteria. Gets shit done.
Flirty-and does anyone rver think of these children??!! Growing up rarely seeing their biodad, knowing they were result of random hookup, mother has bad judgement. I mean does anyone put the kids first? What happens when money dries up-which it will, and prob sooner that later-? Who's goingvto provide for them? Ugh, so discouraging the way we treat children. Like accessories. ". Ooo, i have 7!" " ooo, i have 5- and twins!" So asinine.
Barred? More like a paid leave during the investigation which is how it should be. Sure he seems like a disgusting piece of sh*t but everyone is innocent until proven guilty AS IT SHOULD BE. I don't understand how people think only some people should have rights and funny how they always fall into that category.
discoflux - the union is appealing the Ray Rice thing because according to the collective bargaining agreement, a player cannot be disciplined twice for the same infraction. The commissioner completely screwed this up - they can say all they want that they just recently saw the second tape but shouldn't her limp, lifeless body being dragged out of the elevator been enough evidence to get it right the first time?
I love the work imbecile, I don't use it enough
And god knows I could!
