His newspaper died long ago.
ReplyDeleteRIP
ReplyDeleteLately, this blog resembles the obituary section. :/
Can people please stop dying???
ReplyDeleteWow. I met him once at a book signing. He had a very powerful presence, and a warm and charming smile. This bums me out and reminds me of how I felt when Walter Cronkite and Peter Jennings died. The ones with integrity are always hard to say goodbye to. RIP
ReplyDeleteI knew Ben and worked with him...he was one cool dude. So charismatic and fun. He will be missed.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Crila- this death thing is getting old.
ReplyDeleteAh, for the days when the news was researched.
ReplyDeleteI grew up reading the Post, it was a great paper back in the day. Good investigative reporting is really losing its foothold in this country and it will be to the detriment of true democracy. How many articles do you read today where the questions any intelligent person would ask, are actually answered? The newswires just repeat from paper to paper to paper.
ReplyDeleteI hope we get past this stage in journalism and back to probing questions and intelligent writing.
I had an internship as a teenager at the Washington Post and worked for Ben Bradlee (executive editor) and Howard Simon (managing editor). He had an ego the size of China, but treated me pretty well. His wife, Sally Quinn, was always very nice. RIP, Mr. Bradlee.
