RIP a tremendously talented lady
ReplyDeleteI miss the old SNL! Morning folks.
ReplyDeleteTruly, one of the funniest ladies to walk this earth. RIP
ReplyDeleteI remember watching her on an old Atlanta TV station show (TBS?) with a guy named Bill Tush - as I recall it was kind of like SNL only based in Atlanta. She was funny as hell on that - and she was great on SNL and 3rd Rock. I can't find anything about a family though - was she married? Relationship? She'll be missed.
ReplyDeleteRIP to a wonderfully hilarious woman
ReplyDeleteShe was fantastic on 3rd rock. Comedy giant
ReplyDeleteSounds like she killed herself.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. But I don't think we are supposed to say that.
DeleteAnother report said she had a serious illness.
DeleteRIP.
ReplyDeleteLoved her on SNL. Sadly, she was poorly miscast (and her character just was not well written) on "Designing Women"
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laughs...say hi to Phil. RIP Jan Hooks. :(
ReplyDeleteRest in peace. I too picture her with Phil. I think she had cancer, probably myleoma.
ReplyDeleteAccording to TMZ, she had some type of serious illness.
ReplyDeleteJan Hooks died? So young? What was her serious illness?
ReplyDeleteSo very sad and too young to go. She was a wonderfully talented comedienne. Her and Phil Hartman were my favourite SNL members. A perfect pair. I guess they're once again having a laugh together. Goodbye Jan.
ReplyDeleteShe was a talented character acttor as well. Her work on Third Rock From the Sun was great.
ReplyDeleteRIP

ReplyDeleteSusan B- thank you for mentioning Tush! I used to love that show- I'd watch when I was babysitting and when Jan Hooks started appearing on SNL, I remember looking forward to watching because I liked her on Tush. Also Bonnie and Terry Turner were writers/producers on it and they went on to do very well too.
ReplyDeleteShe was a stand out in that Cone Heads movie. The Other Woman (in her own mind!).
ReplyDeletei thought she was hilarious and rip
ReplyDeleteRIP. I loved her on SNL, Designing Women, 3rd Rock, 30 Rock, Coneheads.
ReplyDeleteFelt like a punch to the gut reading this yesterday. The Sweeney Sisters bit (with Nora Dunn) was among my favourites of her SNL characters. She was also hilarious on 30 Rock. And one of the greatest lines in all of film history: "There's no basement at the Alamo!"
ReplyDelete@Snapdragon, omg, Great Line!! thanks for That!!
ReplyDeleteTina Fey & Kristen Wiig said that Jan Hooks WAS their influence....not one of... the one influence.
rip jan..
@White God, I think not.. I think it was the Big C.
It's weird. I was thinking about her the other day & wondering why I hadn't seen her in much lately. I think the last thing I saw with her was "30 Rock." RIP
ReplyDeleteHeaven is getting funnier all the time! RIP Jan.
ReplyDeleteThe rumor at the time of Phil's death is that he was planning to leave his wife for Jan and that is why she killed him.
ReplyDeleteHow did she die?
