Stephen Collins Says His Wife Is Shaking Him Down For Money

Yesterday morning audio tapes were released which have Stephen Collins admitting to child molesting. Later yesterday he got fired from Ted 2 and TV Guide Channel pulled 7th Heaven from its schedule and I doubt it will ever air again. Like I said yesterday, no one is going to hire Stephen Collins to work in Hollywood because no one wants to be accused of helping child molesters. Of course, there are the exceptions, because people want to work with Woody Allen and Roman Polanski doesn't have many problems attracting people to his projects.

Last night, a woman trying to become famous said she heard a gunshot coming from the house of Stephen Collins which she Tweeted out and the police went there probably expecting to find a suicide. One problem. No gunshot and Collins was not even home. Also yesterday, Collins' lawyer says that Collins' wife has been trying to sell the tapes for years but that no one would buy them and she has threatened to release them before if she wasn't paid millions of dollars. His wife denies that and says she played no part in the dissemination of the tapes.

Stephen Collins deserves prison and a whole lot more evil things done to him, but if his wife held on to the tapes for years because she wanted money instead of releasing them and potentially saving other victims Collins may have hurt is pretty awful too. I don't believe the whole nonsense about Collins only doing this to three kids 20-40 years ago and just giving up. Child molesters never stop, especially if they have never been caught.

  4. Before we anoint Faye Grant for sainthood for releasing the tapes and exposing him we should realize she knew this years ago. I don't care how much I love somebody--a child molester is scum and you die in my heart the minute I find out you did that. And you're gone and maybe I put your perverted ass in jail. Yet she stayed and kept quiet and maybe he did it again or not.

    2. Fuji-she said she just found in 2012, and shortly after they divorced. One of her conditions was he go for counseling to prevent him from molesting any other victims. She was beside herself trying to figure out hiw to prevent him from reoffending. Then, amazingly, he started getting cheap with the divorce settlement, so she must hv thiught, here u r a pervert pos, and now u r trying to screw me over in divorce??!! So her lawyer said to record him. Did she release the tape? She says no. Again i dont give a shit, but i dont believe she was holding onto it for blackmailing. She genuinely didnt know wtf to do after finding out her partner of 25 yrs was a kiddie fiddler. Im thinking it worked out well in terms of outing the pos. why blame Faye? Remember she isnt the molester, he is. All the rest is lawyer cowshit, designed to do just what it has apparently done: shift the outrage over to her. Sorry, not falling for it buddy. Pos shld be in jail, where he wont need any money anyway, save for protection money, lol.

  5. Agree with Sandybrook. I just read she knew this 10 years ago. 10 years!! And she stayed married to him? That turns my stomach. She is just as bad as he is.

    1. Worse I say. A pedophile is psychologically wrong.

She was complicity silent, and although I don't excuse his behavior at ALL, she doesn't have that psychological disturbance to blame. She's chosen to allow evil to go unnoticed. And that, to me, is even worse than a psychopath.

  7. Yeah, his wife is scum if she kept it hidden.

No matter how much shade he throws her way for 'bilking him for money' he still is the fucked up one. Now he's gonna bring her down with him.

And the kids. God. Sick disgusting POS he is for doing this.

  8. According to his soon-to-be-ex-wife, when she made the recordings, she had already reported this to authorities and was working with them. If that is true, then she was taking the appropriate actions. It's possible that she is after money, but it still sounds like she did the right thing by going to authorities when she found out about this in 2012. How about we talk about the LAPD who investigated her claims several years ago, but found a lack of evidence (because much of this happened in NYC). Shouldn't they have reached out to the NYPD back then, instead of just dropping it?

  9. Well if any man tells his significant other that he hopes their child is a boy so that he doesn't want oral sex from them/her - that is enough to make me run as fast as I can, make sure he gets help and then never let him near my child. I always rooted for this couple. Sad!

  14. The article I read said that one of his victims sent her a note saying what he had done and alerting her to what her husband was doing. He convinced her that the victim only mistakingly saw his dick as he was wearring jeans with holes in them and must have seen it that way. Uh huh..whether she just wanted to believe this is true or if she really knew all along is debatable. Sometimes people want to be in denial, consciously or unconciously. Jury still out on her from my perspective. I expect more to come out.

  15. she knew before 2012. Listening to the tape even shows she knew exactly what he was talking about. She was the one interrogating him not the doctor.

  16. Listening to the tape, I noticed how he appears to have targeted or sought a connection with young girls. One was the niece of someone who lived across the way (paraphrased). How do you get into close proximity to the niece of a neighbor without planning? Seemed calculated.

  19. Yes, she knew before the recording, but that doesn't mean she knew for years before. It sounds like once he admitted the truth (after making up the lame holey jeans story many years earlier), she went to the authorities about it. And it was while working with them that she made the recording and asked him those specific questions.

Also, I'm not sure I buy the story about him saying he would want to have oral sex with a baby boy. Don't most pedophiles prefer one gender? And it seems pretty clear that he was attracted to young girls.

  22. Whatever money she gets out of him will be dwarfed by the amount of money CBS Television is losing from having to take the show out of syndication, perhaps forever, as Enty suggests. (Although people still watch Errol Flynn movies, so maybe not).

It's also possible that some of the other actors had syndication revenue points from the series - Beverly Mitchell, maybe, or even Jessica Biel? - and will find what they thought was a lifetime income has vanished overnight.

As with Mel Gibson, revelations from an ex-partner will end up costing her some money, him lots of money, and all the people behind him tons of money.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Cathy, I think that he wanted a baby boy so that he wouldn't be attracted to his child.

I wonder if he tried anything with the girls on 7th Heaven. It would make sense except that I think most of them are on good terms?

  24. Long time lurker first time poster! I had to weigh in. Weren't these private therapy sessions that she recorded without his knowledge? Don't get me wrong- what he did is disgusting and she's disgusting for hiding it. I just think that being able to release tapes of therapy sessions without consequence is setting a dangerous precedent. Lots of embarassing yet not illegal things are discussed in therapy (family scandals, suicidal thoughts, sexual preferences, diseases etc) that should not be able to be released to the world.

    1. @Roots, I agree with you, and we discussed this briefly yesterday. But yes, my concern is all the potential pedophiles - people struggling with urges - who now will be afraid to get help because of this case, and their potential victims. it is possible to be a pedophile who never acts on his desires, and these men (and they are mostly men) deserve all the support they can get to continue restraining themselves. They are mentally ill, not evil. The act of assault is what's evil.

      Delete
    2. I completely agree with you. Terrible precedent.

    3. True. Good point.

  25. @Roots - in California, it is legal to record someone without their knowledge if it's to gather evidence that they committed a "violent felony," which includes molesting someone under the age of 14. So in this case, it was 100% legal, even in the therapy setting.

  30. I don't like the way the public has, as usual, rushed to judgment on this. Granted, if Collins is guilty as charged, he deserves condemnation and punishment; but the LAPD apparently investigated these allegations some years ago and did not uncover sufficient evidence to sustain a prosecution. I think that such caution is particularly warranted in cases like this (and Woody Allen's, for that matter) in which a hostile "ex" clearly has a vested financial interest in making such hateful allegations public.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No one is "rushing to judgment" on Collins. He clearly admitted to it on tape. Caution isn't warranted and whatever the wife had to do with the situation doesn't change the fact that he admitted to exposing himself to young girls. It's a fact, not an allegation.

      Delete
    2. I think he should just go ahead and exterminate himself...y'know, like mentally ill people should.

  31. @liddy, yes at first, but when you start to put it together wouldn't you leave?. It would be devastating, but you would have no choice, which is what it sounds like she did. My aunt stayed with my uncle even after 2 of the girls in the family (her nieces) told her he had raped them. Her own sons sided with the girls eventually, although initially no one believed them. He was a cop, a great guy, we all said. Sad all around. Destroyed our family.

  41. The actual court documents are posted on TMZ, go check them out if you have doubts about the timeline of events and her actions. I think she strongly suspected, got him to confess in therapy, and then got the ball rolling from there. She may not be blameless, but at least she was working on it.

  42. He's what the death penalty is made for. Why should our tax dollars go to support these scumbags until they die? He is trash and should die, but so should Polanski and Woody Allen...but they won't ever be punished for their crimes. Gee, I wonder why.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I will def read the court documents. Not cause I specifically doubt timelines, just my curiosity is getting the best of me.

I really have no opinion on the wife, such as whether she sat on this information for long or if her motive is money - however, there is a Dottie Sandusky out there, so with that comparison I am glad Faye Grant did something, regardless of her motive.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I too want to know where the statement of him glad they had a boy/girl (heard it differently up thread) because he'd want to have oral sex.

Also if these tapes were recorded by her, aside from the police, who else had them? Someone she knew had them presented to the media.

He's confessed to exposing himself so far. NOT like that's not bad but has he confessed to anything more than that? Just curious. And why do men like to expose themselves?

My sister and I used to have to pass by this one house to get to a friends. There was about a 1/4-1/2 mile of road where no one else but this creep lived. He would either stand at his front door naked (which was at the top of a small hill so we knew he couldn't get us) or in some horrid cases he would drive by in his car(with his pants down)and ask us to get in. We had to run a long way to get to the next house and we were just terrified he would catch us. Awful!

    ReplyDelete
  45. From what I've read online, his wife "knew" in the sense that she got a letter in 2002 from a former victim and when she confronted her husband, he denied it and she believed him. Put yourself in her position - some rando lady claiming your husband molested her and your husband giving an explanation fir it. Most people will belueve their spouse. She then (years) later followed - up with that woman saying that she now believed her. Plus, she turned the tapes over to the cops 2 years ago and they CLEARED him.

I'm not saying she did everything right, I'm saying all her actions so far appear to be that of a reasonable person in extraordinary circumstances.

Maybe it will come out later that she really just wanted leverage for the divorce but... I dunno. She doesn't seem like a Mrs. Sandusky playing deaf, dumb and blind.

  46. OK found it - his remark about wanting a girl and not a boy. (duh to me, it was on TMZ)

    http://www.tmz.com/2014/10/08/stephen-collins-oral-sex-child-molestation-daughter-boy-penis/

^sorry can't do clicky click but apparently she emailed him that she should have known when he made the comment before she had their child.

    ReplyDelete
  47. If you listen to the tape, it seems clear that if she had any prior suspicions, she was in major denial. This is a woman who has had her world blown up. There's a lot of random information about the timeline, but the central fact is that he admitted the abuse to her in 2012, and she reported it to the police. Whatever else may have gone on, that's enough to me to say stop talking about her and put the blame 100% on him.

Here's a transcript of the tape.

If anyone wonders whether 7th Heaven can ever be aired again, this should answer that question. It really does suck for the other actors who were getting residuals, but of course that's nothing compared to what the poor girls went through.

To me, her allegation about the baby seems over the top. Their daughter is 24 years old. In 2012, she would have been 22. How in the hell do you stay married for 22 years to a man who would say he fantasized about oral sex with his infant son while you're in the hospital?! Uh, sorry, no, get your a** out of the waiting room and I better not see any of your stuff in my house when the police and I get there.

What a screwed up situation. I'm glad he's being vilified, but wifey is pretty shady, too.

If she had wanted more money out of him in the divorce, she wouldn't have taken them to the police. Fucking and marrying Soon Yi was creepy enough - so Allen's a creep. That's not the same thing as being a child molester. I feel sorry for Dylan, Ronan and the rest of those kids but Moses is the only one who's escaped Mia's crazytrain. She's a lot scarier than Woody.

  57. All of the stories about the divorce, what the wife knew and when, are just deflections from one simple fact: STEPHEN COLLINS IS AN ADMITTED PEDOPHILE. I don't really care how loathsome his ex-wife may or may not be... I hope she takes him to the cleaners. I'm sure there is A LOT more details that will come out. For one, the LAPD is not going to comment on any evidence they might have until they've finished putting together their case. Sure, there will be leaks (Harvey's got informants everywhere), but I'm sure the full story has not come out yet. It should be noted that Collins is represented by Mark Vincent Kaplan, master of media spin, who has represented the likes of Kevin Federline, Chris Judd, and the Church of Scientology. He's very good at what he does. Also, someone mentioned the Statute of Limitations... It's my understanding that in CA the clock doesn't start for child abuse cases until the crime is reported. That's why 20-30-year-old crimes can still be prosecuted.
