I didn’t even know these two people knew each other or ever even crossed paths. It turns out though that they do have one thing in common and that is female empowerment and the two of them started a foundation that helps teens in other countries. The particular goal of the foundation is to bribe tribal leaders with cash not to mutilate the genitals of female tribe members. Apparently cash gifts can work miracles in overcoming a centuries old tradition. The teens are then sent to a city to go to school and have a life away from their tribe. So far, the two women have saved about 200 teens from the practice. They each essentially have bottomless wallets to help as many as they are able but have issues getting someone to the tribes at the right times and making the payoffs and coordinating logistics. They are helping two or three people at a time and feel like they are doing great work considering they have only been doing it for about a year. The two women are A+ list but in entirely different fields. One is a singer and the other an actress. They both like to trow out that fake British accent from time to time.

It is not surprising AT ALL that these two would cross paths....
It's a hideous practice that needs to be abolished. Good for these two.

Why not just pay someone to kill the douchebags who mutilate the young women in the first place? Just saying... the world would be a better place without them. Of course the same could be said for religious assholes, Republicans and people who put mayo on Italian hoagies, but still...
Kill one tribal leader then another one takes his place and mutilates the girls. Getting them away from the tribe is the smart move.
I don't know if I believe this blind. If it's true, I doubt its reveal. First and foremost, Madge and AngieJo don't do any good deeds without it "accidentally" leaking to the press before too long.
The reason it's odd that they'd cross paths is because they supposedly loathe each other. Brad Pitt worked with Guy Richie and the two men became pals. When Guy and Brad tried to set up dinners and etc. with 'the wives' AngieJo snubbed Madge. They've despised each other since then, at least that's the story. Who knows if it's true?

Hurrah for these ladies. There was, in the late 1990's 2 African female directors, who made movies on this topic. It was horrific then and not a lot support from the women who had went through. Amazing to me how all cultures use shame, betrayal and abandonment to keep others in line. This is some sick shit as this women have life long problems urinating, giving birth and all so loser wants to make sure you ain't having fun cheating. Oh fun for him only...
It's women who carry on the tradition to mutilate young girls. Men don't do it.
1) A female elder of a village does the "honors".
2) You mention "religious assholes" - in this case, it's religious muslims who by and large continue this barbaric tradition.
3) You mention Republicans, when Democrats are the ones who claim Islam to be a peaceful religion with good values.
