Blind Item #7

This back in the day A list mostly television actress left a hit network show because she thought she was too good for it. She thought she would be a huge movie star. Not so much. She still has A list name recognition though because of her side projects. One of her non-business side projects is cheating on her long term husband.

    Delta Burke/Designing Women
    Gerald McRaney hubby of forever.
Her plus size swimwear/clothing line is pretty successful (QVC)?

  3. Suzanne Somers was fired, I thought? Like Delta guess - she was hysterical on that show.

Sisters Julia (Dixie Carter) and Suzanne Sugarbaker (Delta Burke) are polar opposites. .... With Burke fired and Smart insistent on leaving the show, CBS began ...

    Nope

At the beginning of the fifth season in 1980, Somers demanded a hefty salary raise from $30,000 to $150,000 an episode and ten percent ownership of the show's profit. Those close to the situation suggested that Somers' rebellion was due to husband Hamel's influences. When ABC denied her request, she boycotted the second and fourth shows of the season, due to excuses such as a broken rib. She finished the remaining season on her contract, but her role was decreased to 60 seconds per episode (her character only appearing in the episode's closing tag in which she calls the trio's apartment from her home). After her contract was terminated, she sued ABC for $2 million, claiming her credibility in show business had been damaged. It went to an arbitrator who decided she was owed only $30,000, due to a single missed episode for which she had not been paid. Other rulings favored the producers. Somers claims she was fired for asking to be paid as much as male television stars of the day such as Alan Alda and Carroll O'Connor.[13]

Delta was just straight-up fired for being a bitch. Suzanne was playing games. Her contract was destroyed but she caused it intentionally

  13. "Termination of contract"-- she was fired.

That's who I read it as. And didn't she just say in an interview somewhere that she has sex five times a day or something like that? Here it is. I guess it's only twice: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/14/suzanne-somers-sex_n_5985716.html

  18. Shelly Long was my first thought, too.
She made a big PR thing about, "How hard it was to leave the show."
All of her films were flops.

Shelley Long tried killing herself after the breakup of her marriage back maybe 10 years ago or so.

Several years ago, a good friend of mine wrote a short documentary for a well known Indiana-based company and Shelley Long was asked to be the narrator. The company had a good size budget to work with, but it was not astronomical. They were hoping Shelley would do the narration because of her Hoosier roots (she's originally from Fort Wayne) and name recognition, although this was a long time after her role on Cheers. Apparently, she made huge demands including bringing her daughter and make-up/hair person with her (all expenses paid) when she flew in to Indianapolis. Her demands proved to be too much and the company went with someone else.

Actually Delta was canned for getting overweight.

This would explain why Modern Family has not asked her to come back anymore.

5 times a day?! Cheese and Crackers!!! I haven't had sex that many times... like... in... MY WHOLE DAMN LIFE!!!
Its amazing that she can force her legs together long enough to use a ThighMaster.

This is supposed to be Suzanne Summers. Despite technically being fired she actually left because of her salary demands so you could say she 'left a hit network show.'

Shelley did have some hit movies. Outrageous Fortune and Troop Beverly Hills did very well, as did the Brady Bunch movies.

Suzanne makes such an unnecessary point, every time she is interviewed, of boasting about her active sex life with Alan, that I would find this hilarious if this really was her. She is such a phony.

  31. Nope, this is definitely NOT her!.......
