It used to be that being the abused made you look like it was something you did. I was a youth counselor years ago, one of my kids was a teen female who had been sexually abused by her stepfather. My mother, raised in the 40's and 50's thought she was the problem. Why would her stepfather do that if she didn't have it coming to her? Or she was lying. SMH.

Both these women hold the power/ $ in their marriages..both could divorce without giving any reason publicly and it wouldn't make a difference in their public perception..so maybe it's someone else...

@Marlin-I think Enty suggested(maybe?) he was abusive, and then someone once wrote she was also. Sounds dysfunctional for sure (not sure of last hit - late 90's was her peak or very early 2000s I think. Pretty voice.....
Barbara had a number one album in 2009 and another one in 2014. In 2011 she had one that went to number 4.

Babs is a bitch...no way she'd allow her hubby to beat her. He was always a cheater, but never heard that he was abusive. I could see Faith Hill maybe.
A woman can look bad by fabricating a story, thus causing real victims more trouble than they already have.
Amber abused her female spouse. She never offered a shred of evidence that Depp abused her and backed down instead of taking her circus show to court.
