Anthony Bourdain Throws His Ex Under A Bus
Anthony Bourdain is taking the separation from his wife Ottavia Busia not so well. The chef told the New Yorker he was happy to no longer have to "pretend" to be in a relationship with his wife after secretly spending years living separate lives.
"She’s an interesting woman. I admire her choices," Bourdain told the magazine. He added that his ex’s love of mixed martial arts changed her.
"I married Sophia Loren. She turned into Jean-Claude Van Damme." Guess he wanted the stay at home Stepford Wife type.
Bourdain and Busia married in 2007. They announced their separation in September.
At the time of their split, Bourdain told the New Yorker that they had "lived separate lives for many years."
My god I do have a mad crush on him forever but not cool to dis her publicly (although that Sophia Loren/JCVD line made me chuckle)
ReplyDeleteIsn't he the New York State middleweight (185lb.) Judo champion himself?
ReplyDeleteJiu Jitsu Champion
ReplyDeleteAbout ten years ago I thought Bourdain was the Shizzle, but lately he's really been rubbing me the wrong way.
ReplyDeleteThey have a kid together. You don't throw mama under the bus publically. It's more than tasteless. It's bad parenting.
Weird thing to say about his wife. Like she hadn't been putting up w crap from him. Makes me wonder if he had been pushing her around but now she can defend herself.
ReplyDeleteHe's a moron.
ReplyDelete^^ Agree.
ReplyDeleteAnd this was necessary to say publicly why? What a dick.
ReplyDeleteHe is such an asshole. I seems tom recall he got with her while being married to his first wife. karma is a bitch
ReplyDeleteI saw him give a talk last year in SF. At that time, he spoke very lovingly of his wife, their family and how she had gotten him interested in martial arts, which saved him from his demons. It was almost eye-rolling how mushy he was; this time last year, not five years ago. Oops
ReplyDeleteAddicts need someone to kiss their ego 24/7 or they use it as an excuse to go back to the drugs and blame you for it.
ReplyDeletefor the art of sarcasm ab throws the whole mankind under a bus...
ReplyDeleteP.S. he looks like a portrait of Darien Gray...
A friend of mine frequents a fashion forum and told me a while back that supposedly his wife was a member there. She loves Hermes handbags so apparently she was busy shopping while he was gone :)
ReplyDeleteOmg I love him too! For what it's worth, the ex gave the same quote to the NYT (if I remember correctly) when they did a profile on her a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteLuckily, no - Eric Ripert set them up when he was trying to get it together post-divorce from his first wife. I keep track of way too much Chef Gossip ??
ReplyDeleteI can't even begin to comprehend why anybody would take issue with what he said. He didn't say he left her because she turned into JCVD, just that she did. And that's not an insult, BTW. Enty got everybody here all worked up about nothing, and every one of you fell for it.
ReplyDeleteNot seeing disrespect here. She was one thing when he met and married her and then martial arts became her main focus largely due to her new found financial ability to travel and compete. Her role as a mother was a minor one.
ReplyDeleteI don't see a problem here.
No, he didn't. His first marriage was one of drug co-dependency. He licked his demons (not really, but dried out) and his wife wasn't having it.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing to me how so many jump on a suggested bandwagon.
Agreed.
ReplyDeleteEric, now there is a sexy man. You just know that French dude has it going on...
ReplyDeleteThis is a serious mischaracterization of what was in the article. The Sophia Loren/JCVD thing was a private joke between them, and they always had a fairly open arrangement with lots of time apart. If you read the whole article, you get a very different picture. Enty has an axe to grind, apparently.
