Blind Item #10
Two east coast sports owners have decided they don't like a player so made a deal with the other owners to keep him out. Blackballed. Those two owners also share another commonality.

Derrell Revis the player--Woody Johnson NYJets and Robert Kraft NE Patriots\both friends of Trump and campaign contributors? Revis was cut by Jets after he got arrested last month, yesterday he was cleared.
ReplyDeleteThis could also be Colin Kaepernick by the same 2.
Since it doesn't say the sport, hard to guess, but I think this is illegal, I know this has been true in baseball, I'm not sure with the others..
ReplyDeleteDarrelle Revis? Pittsburgh Steelers and NY Giants. Both owned by the families of Rooney and Kate Mara
ReplyDeleteIt's called collusion, and it is illegal.
ReplyDeleteColin Kaepernick is being blackballed because he was terrible at his job this year ,more than anything.
ReplyDeleteBut very difficult to prove.
ReplyDelete@Soapy got it I think.
ReplyDeleteColin Kaepernick wasn't terrible, though. Statistically, he was very 'middle of the pack.' The 49ers were terrible, but not because of him.
ReplyDeleteSoapy could have the teams right the Maras and Rooney's are family.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!! Very difficult.
ReplyDeleteAt first I was thinking it could be that dingbat Dolan. His Knicks are a mess, but thank God the Rangers are in their familar late-season playoff spot. Hoping for a long run this spring!
ReplyDeleteI thought Rooney Mara was one person. Is there a Rooney family the she was named after?
ReplyDeleteYes the Rooneys own the Pittsburgh Steelers and are cousins to the Maras. Rooney was named in their honor.
ReplyDeleteRooney Mara's first name is the surname of her mother's family (they own the Pittsburgh Steelers). Her dad is a Mara. They own the NY Giants.

ReplyDeleteWhoever it is, I'm sure Tom Brady will end up serving a four-game suspension because of it
ReplyDeleteI'm glad someone else said this!
ReplyDeleteI was like, "whaaaaaat?"
Ok.
ReplyDeleteJust one question.
If this is a middle of the road player (whatever sport); and, no one is knocking at his door, maybe the fact the teams aren't knocking is that "he sucks as a player?"
Just asking.
If this is Darrell Revis, he got his ring, then went looking for a payday. What is wrong with that?
Okay, two questions!
David, not sure if I'm going to answer your question, but I'll try. Sometimes players just don't garner any offers as they get older. Other times owners don't want the headache if a player if known to be a handful off the court, field, diamond, ice. Most times someone will take a flyer on a player if they think they can 1) put their team over the top 2) put fannies in the seats.
ReplyDeleteBtw, congratulations on your weight loss. Go, you!!
:)
ReplyDeleteAmen Soapy! I want to see King Henrik finally hoist that beautiful Stanley Cup!
ReplyDeleteI don't believe this. Yes I can understand one owner telling another that a specific player is a problem. However blackballing is physically impossible. The sport isn't specified but most leagues have twenty or more teams. Many teams have multiple owners, majority and minority, and in most cases the owners aren't directly involved in recruiting players. It is their general managers, coaches etc. So, in order to blackball a player, you need a conspiracy of a hundred or more people. Just not practical. Most players that are passed on are for legitimate reasons of performance, personal issues such as drugs and public relations disasters.
