Blind Item #9
Back in the day, this former A+ list mostly movie actor who is an Academy Award winner/nominee was set to play a superhero. The studio bailed on the movie though and the actor never got a chance. Now though, fast forward three decades and he is begging for a chance to play the superhero now. He feels like he is missing out on all this superhero money and that the studio owes him.
Michael Keaton?
ReplyDeleteNic Cage?
ReplyDeleteMel Gibson/wants to be in Suicide Squad 2
ReplyDeleteOr wants to direct for sure(not sure if he would cast himself?)
ReplyDeleteThese superheroes are getting a little long in the tooth.
ReplyDeleteNicholas Cage was set to play Superman...
ReplyDeleteHe was Batman in Tim Burton's version of Batman.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Gibson was ever cast for a superhero movie though.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's Nicolas Cage because he actually played Ghost Rider, which could be considered a superhero, in two movies.
ReplyDeleteSylvester Stallone
ReplyDeleteHis name was on the list for Wolverine, but I don't know how far that got.
ReplyDeleteYes, but he even named his son Kal El (or whatever the frig Clark Kent's real name is).
ReplyDeleteTaking a wild guess here - Kevin Costner. In the 1980s, possibly early 1990s, he was signed to a big screen version of Green Lantern. (Three?) decades later, Ryan Reynolds starred in the GL movie which didn't too well. The Justice League movie is due for release and, while not featuring the character, Green Lantern was an original member of the JL.
ReplyDelete+1 He's always wanted to play Superman (named his kid Kal-El and has a ridiculous comic collection). Was all set to play the Big S back in the day before the studio decided to go in another direction with another actor.
ReplyDeleteThis is a little off the beaten path, but Bill Murray was once set to play Batman in a film by Ivan Reitman (Murray's dead-pan persona being seen as akin to Adam West's iconic TV Batman) just about 30 years ago. It fell through, and Tim Burton picked up the property and turned Batman into the dark/brooding figure that was truer to the updated comics of that era.
