Lena Dunham Lied About Dog Being Abused
The no-kill shelter from which Lena Dunham adopted Lamby — the dog she recently gave away after what she described as “four years of challenging behavior and aggression” — isn’t buying her story.
On June 21, the Girls alum shared on Instagram her “heartbreaking” decision to give away Lamby to an “amazing professional facility” in L.A. to be cared for by someone “educated in a rescue dog’s specific trauma.” Dunham noted that “Lamby suffered terrible abuse as a pup,” which “made having him in a typical home environment dangerous to him and others” and she and boyfriend musician Jack Antonoff “needed to be responsible to ourselves, our neighbors and especially our beloved boy.” They also needed to save their home, as the dog “ruined floors and couches and our life.”
A spokesperson for BARC Shelter in Brooklyn — where Dunham adopted Lamby in January 2013 before going on to make the dog a star by detailing his adoption in a New Yorker article, showing him off in magazine spreads like Vogue, and spotlighting him on her Instagram feed — has a different story though. For starters, the pet didn’t have a long history of abuse prior to Lena bringing him home.
“We checked the records for Lamby,” Robert Vazquez told Yahoo Celebrity via email. “He was ‘owner surrendered, not enough time,’ so we do not know where she got ‘multiple owners that abused the dog.’” (In her New Yorker piece from March 2013, Dunham said the dog had “three other homes, three other names, but now he’s mine mine mine.”)
At the time of his adoption by the star, the dog was just 1 “nearing 2-years-old” — and he didn’t have a history of being aggressive. If Lamby had a bad past or was abused, do you think BARC would have adopted him to Lena knowing she’s a new star and put her — or the dog — in that situation? We would have told her if the dog had issues. We are a no-kill shelter. We don’t lie about the dogs’ histories because that gets them returned — and mentally it’s not good for dogs.”

ReplyDeleteShe is seriously the worst. Terrible writer. No talent. Still do not know why her or schumer are famous?!?! Family $/opportunity. Her Instagram was on my suggestions the other day and I do not know what she was thinking w the new hair and "style" but she looks worse. How is that possible? She makes me want to throw up.
ReplyDeleteNot trying to take up for her, seriously, but there's also always the chance this shelter was trying to cover its ass. Not like that hasn't happened before.
ReplyDeleteLamby deserved more from this POS. With all her $, why didn't she get a trainer? The dog is a commitment and not a trophy to show off and then get rid of when not convenient.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Lena Dunham LIED about something?
ReplyDeleteYawn.
She is a definite bitch in this situation. There is NO way a no-kill shelter would lie about any/all of that info because it's too important to get the dogs fostered/adopted and they would work with any dogs with any of those issues.
ReplyDeleteA no-kill shelter doesn't need to "cover its ass" considering the many foster homes and trainers, and a national database with which to network, that are committed to helping train or rehabilitate dogs, seeing as the point is to keep the dogs alive and away from abusers/idiots who want an accessory to parade.
ReplyDeleteThis dog could have been taken back to the shelter (it's in the paperwork Lena would have had to sign) BUT since Lena had made up all these stories about Lamby's past and used the dog as a means to get attention, she'd rather put Lamby through the stress of a different situation rather than go back to the no-kill shelter and surrender Lamby to people who KNOW LAMBY'S HISTORY and people Lamby's could recognize -- which would help ease the stress of the transition.
Lena is a bitch needing to be spayed because stupid people shouldn't breed.
don't know for the dog, but more I read about this girl and her behave, more I'm convince she has a serious mental issue...
ReplyDeleteAs someone who works with a very large animal rescue, it is crystal clear to me that if this story is true, she is coming up with a reason to give the dog away. First, the rescue in question is perfectly respectable and they, like us, would not place an aggressive dog. The risk is too high. Second, the detailed explanation of aggression might be believable if she hadn't also included the “ruined floors and couches and our life" line. There is nothing in her statement about the trainers she worked with to help the dog. Dogs who ruin floors and couches are dogs in need of training and attention, which training and attention she clearly wasn't prepared to provide. There are perfectly legitimate reasons to return a dog to a rescue, but I am not buying this one. Deplorable.
ReplyDeleteI read this story entirely. I gather that her boyfriend was allergic to dogs and she got one anyways and he complained about it until she got rid of it. She's a piece of trash. A dog or cat is a long commitment and one to take seriously. What a little liar to say all that. It ruined your floors? No. Take it out to pee. You can't leave an animal alone in your house for hours and hours and not expect it to relieve himself. Saying it ruined your life? Please. That's pretty harsh to say. She should be banned from having animals of any kind.
ReplyDeleteAlso I'm very glad that the shelter called her out. This should be in the news and I'm glad it is.
ReplyDeleteShe's just vile and shouldn't be allowed to be in a position of taking care of anything that lives and breathes after all the things we know of her.
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with this actress but I'm an avid reader of this site. This story caught my attention because we own two dogs. They didnt go any training. We just let them play around. We own them since they were pups. I admit it caused us headaches whenever they messed up some house furnitures, but as they've grown older, their behavior also changes. They started to behave when they reached 2 yrs and above. I dont know if that's called "dog maturity", but our dogs now behave as good dogs. They dont "ruin" things as they used to like when they were pups. So, I just wonder, that this actress owned this dog for four years. If the dog has been like that in its first year with her, why she didnt give it up before? It took her four years and the dog still behaved badly? I dont buy her reason, unless there's something really wrong with the dog. But if that's the case, she should have detected it earlier than four years.... I feel sorry for the dog. They dont have the same mind as humans, that's why they need us to take care of them. They can't think as human does, but they also want to have a home and be truly cared and loved for like anyone of us does. Dogs are so loyal. They protect our home from strangers. It's our responsibility as owners to take care of them too. I hope the dog finds an owner who will truly love and take care of him.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? That was my first thought too. She is just a vile sub human
ReplyDeleteIf you took everything I hate about Millennials and put it into one person it would be Lena Dunham.
ReplyDeleteEven animals can't stand Lena Dunham.
ReplyDeleteGood doggie.
VERY well said, SgH.
ReplyDeleteOver on D-Listed, they are saying she has two new poodles she has been Instagramming. Her followers started asking about Lamby and that is when she posted about Lamby being aggressive so she had to give him to some place in California.
ReplyDeleteShe's a disgusting human and deserves all the negative publicity being thrown her way.
ReplyDeleteTrust me – just like every generation, there's a bunch of stupid people. Millennials are no different than that – there are a lot of bad ones but don't write us all off. There are good ones too. Also most of us loathe Lena Dunham . The millennials that DO like her are the chubby girls who are all about white feminism. They see themselves in her and are clones of her. Fuck her and her lies. That poor dog. She doesn't deserve a career
ReplyDeleteIt would take a very strange person or some desperate social climber to actually like or pretend to like this vile woman.
ReplyDeleteExactly why certain posters here worshipped her. Birds of a feather I guess.
ReplyDeleteVacant psycho's.
I'd like to hear little about the boyfriend. He must be sharp as a tack.
ReplyDeleteAre you saying there are posters here that worship her?
ReplyDeleteThere's something wrong with her, not the dog.
ReplyDeleteHe should get the same blame. By the way, on TMZ it is explained by someone who trained the dog said it was a biter. Why does everyone assume that the shelter is telling the truth,or perhaps they may, have been lied to? All my pets in my adult life have been rescues, and all of them had issues in behavior or health. People who surrender animals often lie or say nothing about bad behavior. And not all rescues are equal, some are just guilt induced money grabbers, a lot of cons going on now. FWI, I kept all of my flawed rescues, at considerable expense and stress.
ReplyDeleteShe's one of Tator Tot Swift's besties. Nuff said.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately Lena's not the only celeb to pull this kinda shit . Paris Hilton, Justin Bieber. They think animals are just things to collect and post on Instagram. Then when they're bored bye bye pet.
ReplyDeleteShe lied about being raped, so I'm not sure why people would be surprised that she'd lie about this too.
