Blind Item #3
This past weekend, this cranky foreign born permanent A list singer solo and in a group performed at an event. The promoters sent over a couple of bottles of very expensive champagne to his wife and guests. The wife takes a sip of the just opened champagne and says it is flat. She then does the same with the second bottle of newly opened champagne and then empties them both out in the champagne buckets.
Bono?
ReplyDeletePhil Collins?
ReplyDeleteSir Paul?
ReplyDeleteNo matter who the hell she is, bitch needs her ass kicked for wasting good bubbly.
ReplyDeleteNot Paul, he's known to be pretty decent. Rod Stewart? Probably Bono, though, lol.
ReplyDeleteNo way would I believe that of Ali Hewson. She’s meant to be very nice, and does a lot of work for charities, in particular the Chernobyl Children’s trust.
DeleteI’d suggest Bob Geldof, but he doesn’t like wasted money and I can’t see his wife being so rude.
Is Bono A-list as a solo? I've no idea. How about Sting?
ReplyDeleteAssuming that the champers were flat, there's a way to report this to the staff without throwing a fit. And if it really was flat, the sommelier would have known the moment the cork came out, so there wouldn't have been any argument. But dumping the bottles into the buckets? That's so, so classy.
ReplyDeleteyes, Sting is a good guess. Bono has done very little solo.
ReplyDeleteYea, this sounds more like a move that Trudy Styler would make than AlLi Hewson.
ReplyDeleteWhen I hear cranky foreign born singer I instantly go to Johnny Rotten.
ReplyDeleteVan Morrison? Solo and with Them (60s band)? He's about as cranky as they get...
ReplyDeleteJohn “Rotten” Lyndon isn’t the type of man that would ‘shit on the help’ and show his ass over pretentious BS like champaign.
ReplyDeleteHe is a very, very decent person. He is also wildly creative and intelligent.I highly recommend his autobiography.
I always liked him growing up, but after digging and reading into his mind, I liked him even more.
Please don't let this be Eric Clapton.
ReplyDeleteBesides J.Lydon doesn't really have a career solo, he released only one album under his name that was a flop 20 years ago (although it's one of my fav personally), otherwise he performs with his 'second' band (chronologically speakin) Public Image Limited!
ReplyDeleteNoel Gallagher, husband of Sarah Macdonald? Liam is/was recently on tour, but currently unmarried. Both are fairly salty to the press and to one another but I haven't heard any reports regarding how they treat the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Bob Geldof to me, always comes across as a grumpy ol' bastard... he was at a charity event last weekend, and his wife is French, so is probably a bit fussy about champagne.
ReplyDeleteDiva by marriage.
ReplyDeleteNice!
I'm not married to the idea that it's Johnny, but in all fairness, it wasn't him that was shitty to the help (it was the wife) and in any event, I don't think he considers promoters (the ones who sent over the wine) as much help as parasitic insects.
ReplyDeleteBut you are right, he hasn't really been solo, unless you could PIL as "solo".
Phil Collins?
ReplyDeletepretty sure it's phil collins. enty has a connection to him and gives us lots of blinds about him and lily. he and his wife were at a charity event over the weekend. she looks the type.
ReplyDeleteCertainly in Collins' wheelhouse.
ReplyDeleteRobbie Williams?
ReplyDeletePatty Griffin, aka Robert Plant's longtime companion. Big controversy lately as to whether they are really married or not, and the consensus seems to be "not legally, no". But this sounds like something Patty would do, as she's a musician in her own right.
ReplyDeleteAnd while Robert isn't notorious for being cranky, he can be a tough interview. He's not fond of the press.
phil collins and his wife orianne last weekend
ReplyDeleteI haven't paid much attention to him for a while, but Clapton used to be known for a fair amount of humility, something he picked up in treatment. I have no idea about his wife.
ReplyDeleteNice one, just sayin'. Looks like Orianne switched to white wine in the second pic. lol
ReplyDeleteright, joseph p blow, kokomo pd? isn't she the type you pictured when you read the blind? ps i love typing joseph p blow, kokomo pd.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I definitely pictured someone tacky and garish. I did not picture something as obscene as those boots, however. I'd be annoyed, too, having to type in Joe Blow from Kokomo. How about jpbkpd?
ReplyDeleteBob had a career with the Boomtown Rats (I know I’m Irish and of a certain age, but they are so underrated nowadays.) and solo although most of his money came from TV (Big Breakfast etc). But he’s a notorious tightwad so is unlikely to let anything complimentary go that quickly! Plus he’s too upset at losing the Freedom of Dublin to be performing anywhere!
ReplyDeleteNo way is it Bono (who isn’t known to be grumpy, nor has he ever had a solo career), and definitely not Ali! And no way in hell is it Johnny Rotten. Just, no. Nor do I think it could be Shane McGowan, Mike Scott. I’d love it to be Robbie Williams, but again unlikely!
Is Phil Collins married, because I’m getting that sense he’s involved.
But when in doubt, blame Sting, as his musical is doing the rounds, and Trudie Styler always seems a bit “starry”
seriously, i wasn't kidding, joseph p blow, kokomo pd, lol.
ReplyDeleteI was going to comment that Orianne looks like just the sort of gal that an aging rocker deserves. But clearly Phil's in a lot of pain these days. Crap, my left hand is just about shot because my thumb is killing me. So I can understand how a guy can pay a wife millions, then decide to bring her back for another round. But I think Phil could take lessons from some of the Rolling Stones on how to do the young wife game.
ReplyDeletehasn't enty referred to phil collins as cranky or grumpy in the past?
ReplyDeleteYeah, Gordon, maybe Phil is still a "No Jacket Required" kinda guy after all, and he's just suffering the diva-ish behavior out of rekindled love and the comfort of an old partner. I think I heard his lumbar vertebrae had fused together due to years and years of drumming. Also, randomly, apparently he is one of the largest private owners of US Civil War artifacts.
ReplyDeleteCivil war artifacts? Huh, that's kind of interesting. I wouldn't mind talking to him about how he got into that. And I didn't know that drumming was so hard on your back. But you never know; you wrench it some, one cold night hauling the gear out of some Glasgow pub. And 40 years later that little thing leads to needing a golf cart to get to the stage.
ReplyDeleteGood fortune and bad: there's a lot of guys his age who had a bit of success, and would do anything to have people cheer them on stage again. Elton, when Rush Limbaugh asked why he was still performing, asked Rush if he was going to quit doing radio. Rush said no, and Elton said, "well, that's it, isn't it? This is what I do."
Sorry, Gordon. I misspoke. It was Alamo artifacts. Whoops.
ReplyDeleteThat's even more curious, JPB. It's as if Shakira liked collecting WW1 Austrian gear.
ReplyDeleteThis scream's sting's wife trudy.
ReplyDeletePhil's wife looks trashy nouveau to me. Dig that thumbnail. Ugh. I'm laying my guess right there.
ReplyDeletePeter Gabriel?
ReplyDeleteMaybe they were flat.
ReplyDeleteI think this is Sting's wife Trudy. I read elsewhere that she is awful to their help - very imperious woman.
ReplyDeleteI’d say it was Sting!
ReplyDeleteCranky? I'm thinking Thom Yorke. He's brilliant, but quite the grump.
ReplyDeleteOxfordshire resident here, not Thom. He's a widow but is in a relationship with an Italian actress.. and has been for quite a while. They're both incredibly nice and always humble. However, I will say that if this isn't Trudy Styler I'll be surprised.. because that means there's another "entitled" wife/partner on her level.. which is an insane level of assholery. I've got stories about loads of people I've encountered in/around the area (and in London), but she's literally HBIC, with B in bold, underlined, and in italics.. and comic sans. OMFG.
