Color me krazy but I think 2018 is going to usher in a new era of, no tickie no washie when it comes to 'talent.' This kind of selfish madness cannot continue. There are way too many talented men and women out there who will perform, leave the stage, not go to a bar and swallow mollies all night and fall on their face outside and be all over the front page of the NY Post half-conscious. Enjoy the idiocy now, kids. 2018 is gonna be for the big boys and girls. At last!!
This has to be Cardi B.... annnnnd not surprised.
@Boo from your text to God’s ears, I hope so!
Part of the problem is how hard the music industry rides the new talent. They try to milk every last dime out of these kids they yank from obscurity and throw into constant TV appearances and touring. The template in the industry seems to be one hit, or one hit "album", then to work their little asses till the explode, have a horrible addiction, get knocked up or start yachting as a break from the horrible industry.
And isn't like the music industry is choosing the most talented or intelligent or capable "artists" to autotune and cover in over-production. Talent fucks with their plans. So they pick the innocent, kinda dumb, and pliable sort to carry the brand the industry creates.
It's fucking awful, and produces fucking awful "music" but that's how it is.
Cardi B in the Bahamas
All that while the video of her boyfriend Offset cheating "leaked"
There have always been "one hit wonders". Now adays there are many more of them. In fact I think todays artists have slimmer chances to last beyond one song. A) the quality is so poor. B) people get realy bored, realy easily. C) Fashions change faster and D) With social media you are exposed to much more music, so the choices are endless.
However- Egos are still MASSIVE. Human nature is something that will never change.
Tthe faster they come- the faster they fall.
@boo haha in your dreams. End of the day the talent works hard so that the talent CAN act like divas, for the talent being a diva is an end goal in of itself to them.
It will never change unless Hollywood goes back to the studio system, which it sort of has with Marvel Studios.
Awww, I don't want it to be Cardi...
I'm sorry to brake it to you guys but Cardi B. is a rapper. She is not a singer. Name one song that child done sang.
@plot, that was poetic genius. Thanks.
I wonder about the debt load that these morons get saddled with too. Want to record? You sign the paper and go into debt for the recording studio sessions and post production. You now have debt that must be paid and must promote the record; you must go on tour. Roadies management, venues, hotels, restaurants, all adds up and when you get back from tour you're even deeper in debt (with a healthy rate of interest loading up on that) and so you must get back in the studio and record.
And so on until you wind up playing Indian reserve casinos.
Urthor--A girl can dream, can't she?
Yea not CardiB - She's a rapper, not a singer. Unless Enty didn't write the blind and hired someone else over the holidays. Enty knows the difference between a rapper and a singer. At least, I hope he does. O_o
With that said, I have no idea who it is as I'm not familiar w/ pop music or one hit wonders.
+1 Exactly. People still niavely believe the 'artists' have control over their output and careers, when it's quite the opposite.
Camila Cabello
Dua lipa? She is on tour and seems like and overnight success. But I dont think she is an a list so... cardi?

Like a newly minted NBA/NFL/EPL star who got their first big cheque and thinks they are tom brady/steph curry/harry kane etc...ego is the problem here.
