Danny Masterson Finally Fired

Danny Masterson has been written out of the Netflix series “The Ranch” following multiple rape allegations against the actor.

"As a result of ongoing discussions, Netflix and the producers have written Danny Masterson out of 'The Ranch.' [Monday] was his last day on the show, and production will resume in early 2018 without him," a statement from Netflix read.

Masterson will still be featured in the second half of Season 2 and parts of the third season that were already filmed. Season 2 is slated to be released on Dec. 15, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It was not immediately clear if another actor will be hired to replace him on the Ashton Kutcher comedy.

Masterson told the Huffington Post, “I am obviously very disappointed in Netflix’s decision to write my character off of ‘The Ranch.’ From day one, I have denied the outrageous allegations against me. I have never been charged with a crime, let alone convicted of one."

Have you noticed he has never sued any of the women who made the allegations? Yeah, if multiple women accused you of rape and it was going to cost you millions of dollars a year, do you think you would sue? So, there is your answer right there.

  1. Exactly.
When you don't see someone suing for libel, slander, etc it's because they know the truth is not on their side and they have no chance of winning.

  2. I'd love to know what Ashton is saying about it!

  3. I'm having a hard time looking at tv shows and movies. The mud is just rising to the top. I wonder what Ashton will have to say about this since he has that program that helps organizations find girls who have been trafficked.

    1. I know what you mean. I think after all the accusations come out ( bc you know more are coming against others ), it’s going to be hard to find any media that hasn’t been tainted by this.

  4. Ugh I love That 70s show. But now when it’s on I can’t watch it. Knowing what kind of person he really is and hides behind his cult makes me sick. Sucks bc it effects a lot of things.

  7. The conservatives in my office think our country has lost the judicial process because we believe these abusers are guilty without proof. I want to slash all their tires.

This is the third time I've tried commenting. Apologies if this shows up a million times.

    3. @robot, it's like a big homecoming! So glad the old CDAN IS back.

@Barbara @Cail, I'm always of the belief where there's smoke, there's fire. I've told my office that by the time these stories come to press, there sufficient information to support the accusation. Yes, the ramifications of the accusations are damaging, but holy shit, imagine the victims. The court of public opinion will always have the loudest voice.

I was assaulted by a family member when I was a teenager. I openly discussed this with co-workers, so they might understand why we wait (15 years, for me) to say anything. And my story just made them uncomfortable and quiet. Frustrating world we're living in. I do hope these cases can be handled in a fair and just manner.

@Count, I think you're right, and the female abusers will be named soon.

  10. Finally!

I had a feeling this was coming since that story broke of one of the accusers confronting a Netflix suit at a kid's soccer game. Evidently when she asked why they aren't firing Masterson, the suit answered, "Well, frankly, we don't believe the accusers." To that she replied, "I'm one of the accusers." That incident, now that it's all out in the media, sent Netflix and the suits scrambling to make it right.

Good for her, whoever she was. (she wasn't named in the story).

  11. @Cornbread, I'm surprised at that, considering the majority of who is being accused for real crimes.

I hope that after the dust settles from all this, we can get to a sensible, law-based way of handling these things. Accusers should be respected and protected so they can't be silenced. But they also have a responsibility to come forward quickly, before evidence fades and statutes of limitations pass. Those two things go hand-in-hand: protection so they can come forward.

The accused should also be respected, and considered innocent until proven guilty, like this is still America. If they admit to it or there's clear photographic evidence and their bosses fire them and admit they've been covering up for them for years, then fine, we can get on with the condemning. But if they deny it, then again, innocent until proven guilty. They should get their day in court, and the accuser should have to show up promptly with the evidence. If it's proven, treat them accordingly under the law. False and spurious accusations should be punished as well.

That all seems pretty reasonable to me. We have a lot to dig out of because it's decades of corruption and so many of these accusations can't be taken to court anymore (though I think some will end up as part of RICO cases if the coverups continued), so it's being handled in the court of public opinion instead. There are also surely false accusations being thrown right now because, if you want to take someone down, the fire's good and hot. But I hope we can return to some sanity someday, where victims are treated right and yet men and women can get friendly without fearing a rape or assault charge coming back to bite them years later.

  12. His statement in Huffington Post UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I say make 1 BIG hole and bury ALL the bastards ALIVE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. @Cail,yes we need to get back to some common sense here. People are using this to take down people they just dislike, and it will end up causing real victims to not be believed. Minor transgressions are lumped together with rape, and like it or not, they still deserve due process.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I always thought he looked like a young Don Henley (or at least could portray him). How ironic.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Strictly speaking, what matters, and what should matter, in cases like these, is the weight of the evidence, NOT the seriousness of the allegations. So those on the board who think that allegations are sufficient are supporting McCarthyist tactics.

Many of the men who have resigned or lost their jobs in recent weeks have done so because several victims have approached police and filed complaints in each case. That, as Enty will probably tell you, suggests a "pattern of behavior."

But it is inappropriate to presume guilt just because harassment is a serious offence. One must have evidence.

  16. Any assessment of all this crap going on that presumes to extract "the" conservative or "the" liberal take on it all fails miserably to understand the first thing about any of it.

  18. Did y'all see the damn is breaking on Female Abusers? https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/melanie-martinez-accused-sexual-assault-080129312.html Some bimbo from the Voice allegedly raped her friend with a vibrator, and her excuse was "She didn't say no". Typical rapist response.

Get ready for 500 Madonna & RiRi back up dancers talking about pressure and herpes and ranch hands talking about Jane Fonda pissing in front of them, handing them the TP she wiped with and getting back on her horse.

The Rosie Riveters of the world are starting to be called out and "I don't have a penis, so I can't rape" aint gonna cut it.

  19. Love the Ranch, one person leaving will I hope not cause the show to be cancelled.

With the article on CDAN in the Daily Mail, I wonder how many new fans will look in, hope the site can take the traffic.

  20. @Mad Hominem, these allegations are playing out in the media because the legal system has failed the victims. One of Danny Masterson's victims filed a police report years ago. The PD did nothing and then her rape kit mysteriously disappeared. It's quite clear that NBC exec's knew about Lauer's conduct but instead of disciplining him, they allowed him to have a special button to remotely lock his door, giving him even more cover. In theory it should be innocent until proven guilty, but the system is stacked against victims. I would also suggest that you google the story of Patricia Douglas.

  22. I cannot stand this format. Frequently it is glitchy as hell, requires multiple captchas, and it's taking multiple attempts just to get a post through even when I stay signed in. I don't know whether it has anything to do with the fires in Southern California right now, but I never had these kinds of issues trying to post on the previous, "new" format.

  23. @Ringo, you're absolutely right, and I didn't intend for my comment to sound divisive or misinformed. Probably because I'm the lone social liberal in my office, and the views of the others tend to be all the same, I use a blanket perception. My apologies for what seemed to be a political statement. It was actually a female-pissed at the old WASPs in my office-statement.

Never charged, sure. YET. Definitely accused though, by 4 separate victims.

Scrolling through Bijou Phillips' Instagram, and she has a few photos referencing The Handmaid's Tale and (seemingly) herself as a handmaid, using hashtags "ofdaniel", "handmaid", etc. It doesn't appear to be a joke. Gives me pause considering what their marriage may be like, knowing this about Danny.

  28. IT IS ABOUT FUCKING TIME.
Now watch how the Co$ work overtime to double down the pressure on the LA District Attorney, LAPD, and elected officials. They've already hired dozens of lawyers and PR people. Watch how Danny's victims are intimidated, their families are threatened, the bosses of the vic's family members are threatened and bribed...this is how Scientology works. There is no mob in the world as bad as they are. That shit Harvey did about hiring lawyers and ex-Mossad thugs and investigators to intimidate vics? That's nothing. Co$ will actually stalk and run the vics off the road. I hope the vics are safe, protected, and the fucking LAPD and LA-DA grow a goddamned pair of balls and shove it up their asses with a candle on it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. And yeah...I'd LOVE to see Masterson try and sue somebody. Can you imagine the discovery phase of the trial? When the vics get to present evidence? lol. That'll never happen.

    ReplyDelete
  30. In April 2017, police referred the case to the district attorney. Since then, the district attorney’s office has examined the evidence turned over by LAPD and conducted its own investigation. Despite compelling ― what one law enforcement source described as “overwhelming” — evidence, the charges have not been approved for filing. The evidence includes audiotapes, emails sent to and from Scientology officers at the time the alleged rapes happened, forensic computer evidence and a threatening handwritten letter Masterson sent to one of the alleged victims, according to two people with knowledge of the evidence in the district attorney’s possession.

  31. @Himmmm, if DannyM sues, the victims also get to dig through Danny & possibly SCIO's files for stuff. I wonder what they'll find. It would be very unwise.

    ReplyDelete
  32. EXACTLY BayAreaGirl...exactly. Can you imagine? The Co$ would spend 24-7 trying to quash every sub coming through and kill every affidavit, deposition, and warrant requested. I just hope in any case - there's a judge on it not tainted by Co$. They back a ton of candidates, charities, and civic events so I hope a fair judge catches any cases.

  33. Cornbread, that's a great response to me. Olive branch!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm woefully out of touch so I don't have a good sense of these things, but did it seem like bad press on the Co$ peaked a couple years ago, and now it's not so much? I'm not talking about how bad Co$ is--I'm sure it's as bad as ever--i just mean the amount of bad press seems to have waned. I'd love to be told I'm wrong.

  35. Masterson is guilty as fuck... he's a vicious anal rapist and obviously quite proud of the fact. Hell he even called himself: DJ Donkey Punch... now let's have a look at what that means -

The Donkey Punch is when you're engaged in anal sex and when your about to ejaculate you punch the poor little lady in the back of the head so her anal cavity tightens making the orgasm all that more better (for you of course).

    .... nice guy, eh?

On top of that he was forced to explain himself in front of one of his accusers at a "scientology hearing" and cracked jokes ... even the scientology hierarchy kicked him out of the room for this behaviour.

You can tell the cult is seriously worried by seeing how many pathetic "innocent until proven guilty" comment are here [Hi OSA, you're going down and Masterson's driving the bus!].

The collusion the LA police played in all of this is also going to be revealed and further heads will roll. And Xenu knows what he filmed on all of those indoor "security" cameras he installed... 18 of them!... This is one fucked up guy who's going to drag down a whole bunch of scum with him.

    Can't wait!

  36. Gotta be very careful what I say here, but re: DA’s office not approving charges for filing...YET. This will be long winded so I apologize in advance.

First, to his victims: for what this is worth, you are believed and you have an enormous amount of people who will back you, who are rooting for you, who will support you in any way necessary. You know this will be a very difficult road but there is no better time than right now. I and others implore you to continue to be strong, see this through, keep the pressure on and keep on this path of seeking justice, even in the face of what must seem an impossible enemy. Never stop fighting until the fight is done.

While I cannot speak to the inner workings of the DA’s office in particular with regards to this type of case, some things to consider. Beyond the issues noted above by Himmmm, on cases like these, where there is no threat the suspect will run, and where there are multiple victims and possibly others, the office will want to ensure the most slam dunk case possible. They would want to get all the victims on board first and have everything ready. With more imminent danger/violent gang/sex trafficking cases, they would immediately file charges because the defendant will run and/or kill witnesses/victims, and then just add new cases for every victim then consolidate them as they go. With major cases, the risks aren’t there and that approach looks sloppy to outsiders. With regards to undue influence/pressure, I would be surprised if they could touch/influence either Jackie Lacey or the sex crimes DAs under her.

Oddly enough, found a little 4”x5” card today that must have been dropped by one of those mailer/menu/flyer guys that blankets neighborhoods. A Co$ ad of all things! Found discarded on either public property or property which may or may not belong to me so “fair game” as they say. I’m taking pics but here’s what it says verbatim:

  37. I'm not a lawyer, and I hope it didn't look like I was trying to defend this creep. But the problem with "where there's smoke there's fire" is that b/millionaires can buy a lot of smoke and/or a lot of fire extinguishers. Big money changes the equation, and pretty soon everybody's smoldering and you can't tell what's what.

As I understand it, it's hard to sue for libel unless there are specific accusations with details like time and place. If I say you raped me behind the ice cream parlor on June 9th, you can sue me. If I say you're a pedophile, you can't. Again, no lawyer, but a friend of mine went through it recently where people on social media were throwing around terms like that and lawyers told him there wasn't anything he could do about the vague ones, but to watch for anything specific. Basically, you can't prove you're not a pedophile, so that's not actionable.

Like Himmmm said, once you sue for libel, it opens you up to investigation, so you'd better be clean. James Woods is one star who has aggressively pursued his rights in this area, and I'm not sure it gained him anything beyond personal satisfaction. He seems to be a pariah among his peers (though that could just be his politics), and how many people still think he's guilty of the things he went to court to prove he wasn't?

So accusers should have to be specific: he did this to me here on this date. That way they're responsible for their words. I don't know if Masterson's accusers have done that; I hope they will. Because then if he doesn't sue, you can figure it's not libel. He would also be able to sue any companies that fire him based on what he claims are lies, but again, that would open him up.

Obviously this guy is guilty as sin. But if we just believe all accusations automatically, we end up where every election for dogcatcher has someone accusing someone else of getting too frisky with a teenage campaign volunteer five years ago. The worst backlash, which is very possible, would be a "boy who cried wolf" situation -- people stop listening to victims at all.
