To be fair, that's like 80%+ of all managers.
Agree. Why is this unusual?
I'm not sure that this is a bad thing. Most managers take 10% off the top---depending on the contract. The ones who get great very lucrative contracts/gigs should get a little more IF they're really working hard to make things happen for the celeb. Its well-earned money considering that they have to put up with the tantrums and bitchiness of the celebrities they represent.
Does this mean that Mariah's basically a rich call girl these days?
This really isn't a BI because that's expected of managers and agents, but the manager apparently stole from her too.
As far as I'm concerned, she earns every cent of her fee just having to deal with Mariah.
One of the things I've learned about show business is that you nail down every revenue opportunity. Back in the 1960s on the original Star Trek series, Gene Roddenberry was the producer and it was assumed that a certain amount of script rewrite work was included in that job. Later, after he had departed, it was found that he had submitted pay chits for every rewrite he had done. Mind you, he was married, and was seeing Nurse Chapel, Uhura and other gals, so he probably needed the money.
I would LOVE to read ALL history detailing EXACTLY HOW she schemed and wormed herself into Mariah's life. 🍿
Is the point that her manager is also her pimp? That's how I read the "as many nights a week as possible" end.
I think the piece is hinting that manager is pimping and taking a cut.
Not trying to be mean but tough to believe that there is a lot of interest in Mariah in that capacity these days
If Mariah is a "lady" of the evening, it would finally explain why she dresses the way she does.
It's all in the advertising.
10% seems low to me. that is all management makes?
