The steady decline for this A+ list mostly movie actress continues. There is a really nervous studio about her new movie after her trailer landed with a thud. Her Q score is atrocious and the botox use, for someone so young is out of control. No one believes her when it comes to her version of events with the disgraced producer.

ReplyDeleteJlaw's had some real duds. Serena, Joy, Passengers, Mother! but the audience was all on-side until she got hacked. Looking at the previous blind, there's a real conservatism to how America spends it's entertainment money.
ReplyDeleteUnderstood the JLaw casting in Hunger Games and enjoyed her in American Hustle. That said, she literally came out of nowhere. She was "up and coming" in Winter's Bone and then boom- she was everywhere and won an Oscar. She seemed sweet in the beginning - the fame got to her head and she couldn't shut her mouth about politics. People are turned off.
ReplyDeleteShe chose her path. And then chose to lie about it. It's the lie that's killing her. She seems to be a bit of a dimwit when she can't use her vagina to control the situation but maybe she gets(and follows) bad advice. I still love her performance in "Winter's Bone".

ReplyDeleteJLaw is a fantastic actress. She would have been excellent in old movies made in the 70s but today all the Millennials want is their peak experience like a video game. Unfortunately, that means crap directors who can deliver sadism so this empty generation can feel something (anything!) are the norm.
She, Adams and fucking Elizabeth Rohm (of all people) deserve all the kudos for American Hustle. The male cast were just dicking around and phoning it it. The women MADE that movie, for a whole lot less money, too.

I was going to watch "The Intern" this weekend and decided against it because
all I think about when I see Robert DeNiro is him spouting off about punching people and Nazis.
Impossible to see him as a character in a film.

ReplyDeleteI don't think they're available for free. At least I wasn't under the impression the info is free? You have to pay for them like JSTOR or LexisNexis. Unless some publication like Variety decides to share with the rest of class.

American Hustle, anyone would have been good in that part, the writing was that strong. I don't get the hype for her, past the boobs and butt and "OMG nude pictures!" angle.

Sounds like a personal problem. How about not caring what people say and simply enjoying a good movie? Are you going to stick to Disney then? Because if their was ever a studio more corrupt and compromised, on many many levels, that would be it.

ReplyDeleteNo it wasn't actually. David Russell can't write a script or even a story to save his life. He famously lets his actors improvise and invent their own dialogue as they go along. He's a shithead of a director, though, who puts everyone through hell.
Sit down and pay attention to any Russell script. It really isn't what I'd call "strong".

All the lecturing didn't help either. She's also probably still harping about the leaked photos that happened years ago.

ReplyDeleteSaw the Red Sparrow trailer during the Super Bowl. A young man was there with us watching who apparently read the books. He was totally disgusted, actually yelled at the screen for her to "please go away and stop ruining all movies." It is as clear he hated her. So yeah, I think her Q score is bottomed out

ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed some of JLaw's movies but can't stand that brash, "I'll say anything!" persona that's she keeps turning up yet another notch. Maybe that's what lying down for Harvey turned her into. There's got to be some intense self-loathing in there. How much longer before she cracks?
ReplyDeleteRed Sparrow is a GREAT book. She was not a good choice for the female lead, who was someone who was a ballerina before the Russian service. Edgerton was a FUCKING HORRID choice as the male lead. 15+ years too old.

Come on that was so stupid. And yeah when they finally tell the story it sounds like complete horse crap. Don't believe a word of it. Some of these metoo stories are just attention seeking made up crapolas. And it makes me mad for the real victims like Mira Sorvina, I loved her and they basically blackl balled her. and the girls who were raped. I would not be surprised if weinstein has a vault full of videos of every single starlet encounter he has ever had. They say alot of those celebs pics that were leaked were from Harvey's stash.

I'll admit it, I was a big JLaw fan for a while. Thought Winter's Bone was an incredible film and her performance riveting. But then little things gradually started getting to me. Her "I'm just a regular gal" shtick started to annoy me. Then she starts saying she's a feminist but the roles she started taking were opposite of her stated beliefs. At first I thought it was just a result of the Hollywood machine. But then I saw mother. Holy cannoli talk about anti-feminist!!! I was actually offended as a woman by that late scene toward the end. Why would any woman agree to do a scene like that?! And THEN...I decided to look up the fappening photos. I didn't pay much attention when they were all initially released. But I googled JLaw's photos and...oh...my...guh. It's obvious they are not photos she took for her boyfriend and more likely casting couch fodder. Now I can't even look at her without seeing one particularly graphic photo of her, along with that mother scene. SHE IS GROSS.
