"You can take this from me She will take you for everything She will lie She will break you down inside Cuz you can crawl on your knees You can give her everything You'll ask why But she won't tell you anything So how low did you go? How Low?"
Finally saw SS's "Ready Player One" and it was cold and soulless and all the things that were changed from the book revolved around horror and death ("The Shining" segment, climbing over dead bodies to find the beautiful blond, and so on). It felt like maybe Spielberg's heart just isn't in it anymore.
Strange how every week we hear about a new project Spielberg's going to direct. New Indiana Jones, New West Side Story, now a biopic about U.S. Grant.
We've heard many more rumors about Kate Capshaw (and Tom Hanks' wife?) and her coven than anything about Soon Yi.
Even so, I've not seen a Woody Allen movie since the Paris one he won the screenplay Oscar for. It was a good movie but I regret watching it.
Hopefully neither will work again. But what about all the other creeps and criminals rising through the guild? Even if the old cabal is moved off the game board, what's stepping in to replace it?
Going with the Soon-yi guess. Woody's next film, A Rainy Day In New York is already having many of its cast members come out and say they regret working with Allen, and are giving up their paychecks for it. With the MeToo movement, and increased scrutiny on Allen, I think he'll have harder and harder times finding casts for his films, and thus might not be able to make too many more movies, if another one, again.
Soon-Yi might be experimenting. Or, if your husband for decades was your adopted "father" and he's been accused of child molestation, its understandable if you were put off men altogether...
Aren't Woody and Roman Old ,not Aging? They are over eighty. Spielberg is even pushing the term, but not doing another him would only be be because of arrest or death.
I watched a cam-rip of RPO with some friends because we all wanted to see the trainwreck. Every passage I ever read from the book made me wanna retch and the movie was almost slickly Hollywood enough to wedge an off-the-shelf emotional heart in there. Keyword almost. Nothing worth salvaging in either version.
I like dorky mass-market shit too but if that was all I knew to that extent I'd jump off a bridge; it's not even good 80s nostalgia because even Michael Jackson wasn't white enough to make the cut. The "nerd canon" is just a fuckin' cult at this point, and Disney owns 80% of it anyway. Rip it up, start over, and never see a comic book movie again.
There are a lot of great original "nerd" projects that have been sitting in development hell for years, if not decades. Seems like Disney/Amazon/Netflix are the only ones with their sh!t together enough to produce anything.
Whether it’s Soon Yi or Kate C...Go Girl!!! And when he leasts expects it and you can hurt him where it counts in the ego and bank accounts...really go! Take his reputation down if you can then crack the door open for all his/ their victims. No, Im not usually vindictive but these high level child/sex predators need to be outed/ face legal consequences like any other and have these crimes stopped and prevented. Way too much complicity in HWood, politics and areas like UK for power and profit.
Kate Capshaw?
ReplyDeleteSoon-Yi.
ReplyDeleteI like this answer.

How Low?"
Ok, that’s likely not the answer but if what’s implied in some of the BI’s is even remotely true then I sure hope he never makes another film.

ReplyDeleteHow about Roman Polanski and his much younger wife Emanuel Seigner
ReplyDeletee-MAN-uel SeƱor ?
ReplyDeleteSpielberg has film work to do, so unless Entern is suggesting he's going to be outed or arrested it's Woody.
ReplyDeletePolanski works as well since he's been expelled from the Academy.
ReplyDeleteGeorge Lucas. They got the same "black lez wife who pegs her closeted hubby" vibe as the DeBlasios.

ReplyDeleteI feel like SoonYi is very opportunistic, and nothing will erase the horror I felt when I read that she helped Allen adopt children.
