Blind Items Revealed #3 - Mr. X
June 6, 2018
These two foreign born acting legends, one of whom actually had a brief affair with this still living permanent A list mostly movie actor back in the day had the longest feud in Hollywood history. It all went back to when the slightly older, but less famous of the two had a torrid romance with the younger alliterate actress and then dumped her. The younger actress never forgave this and threatened to have the older actress killed of she ever tried to talk to the younger actress again.
Marlene Dietrich/Greta Garbo/Kirk Douglas

The Golden Age of Hollywood vets did not play.
ReplyDeleteDietrich was less famous than Garbo?? I think they were about the same star wise.
ReplyDeleteI think Garbo had more popular movies in America and Marlene's success, though she was globally known, was mainly overseas, "The Blue Angel" notwithstanding. When I think of Dietrich, I mainly think of her having a nightclub act.
ReplyDeleteNope don't buy that GG would seriously threaten to have anyone killed. BS.
ReplyDeleteI think if anyone allows me to live long enough to look like kirk Douglas I'd consider having them killed
ReplyDelete😂😂😂
DeleteLiterally LOL’d @rosie
DeleteWhat fuels Kirk Douglas’s desire to keep living?
ReplyDeleteHe knows which way the the escalator is going
DOWN
I suspect this is the source of many mysterious girl feuds. ;)
ReplyDelete@Rosie Yes. Frankly, I want to have anyone who has seen me before coffee and a cigarette killed. HOWEVER, that's just not reasonable. Usually.
ReplyDeleteWant to buy some illusions?

ReplyDelete@Montana, Garbo was MGM’s biggest female star 1926-1937, which was why she was allowed to delay her debut in talkies so long. Dietrich was at Paramount, a much less prestigious studio, and her late 1930s films did poorly.
ReplyDeleteBut Garbo was done in pictures by 1941 and Dietrich kept working in the 40s and 50s, including great stuff like “Witness for the Prosecution”, which is probably why looking back you see them as equals.
Dietrich’s acting style has also aged much better than Garbo’s histronics.
BTW, as someone who has read many Garbo and some Dietrich bios, I think this blind is nonsense. Garbo was never a violent or threatening person.
Thanks for that. Truly. Taught me a few things.
DeleteJust to be the obligatory dude here - I would pay top dollar for a Garbo/Dietrich sex tape.
ReplyDelete@Brayson, lol, you wish. Just like I'm sure you wish girl sleepovers involved half naked pillow fights, right? 😁
