Jack Gilardi's ten feet tall
Old school Hollywood, baseball
Me and Frankie Avalon
My gut was Jackie Gleason but the movie was in 2005. Two daughters - one is an actress
Ted Knight/Caddyshack (movie)/Love Boat (reboot) almost fits but not sure if Mary Tyler Moore show is 'early days of television' enough and he has only one daughter and I can't find any Disney. lol other than that, perfect!
Buddy Ebsen??
don adams because of the 'fast talking' description. he had daughters who acted.
Phil Silvers for the win.
Phil Silvers. 90s reboot was Sgt Bilko.
The Bilko movie was sooooo bad.
And the Father of the Year award goes to...
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World for the comedy movie with the all star cast.
Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum for Broadway movie.
@MLW
Guess I missed your comment. 😊
Double reboot for Silvers. Beverly Hillbillies (1993) and Sgt. Bilko (1996.) Daughter Cathy was an actress (Happy Days.) Publicly acknowledged his gambling addiction. So nice to know this legend of my grandparents era was pimping out his family while my grandfather worried about claiming the wrong mileage deduction on his taxes every year.
Yeah when you're betting your daughter you know you have a problem.
It's ironic that gambling addicts are addicted to losing. Like hey dude, if losing is your specialty you might want to avoid betting. Perhaps you might have better luck at drug abuse, sex addiction, or the dirtiest of the dirty, Magic The Gathering, the cards the cards!
Yeah, you read it here so it must be true.
Phil Silvers - Look him up in the book - "Dr Zillman"!
Sid Caesar?
LOL @Tricia13 - the 70s wasn't the early days of television, hahaha!!!
Ahhh, to be young again ... ;)
To be fair Bilko was an astonishinly funny show. How many other comedies - TV or Movie - from over 60years ago make you laugh out loud today.
Phil Silvers was a known gambling addict.
Hmmm....subtle/not so subtle? I thought Don Adams too but he wasn't in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World so I'm going with Silvers too.

The Phil Silvers Show 03*31 Bilko Retires From Gambling
Don Adams. Per Wikipedia:
"An avid gambler, according to his longtime friend Bill Dana, Adams "could be very devoted to his family if you reminded him about it, [but] Don's whole life was focused around gambling."
My first thought was Don Adams, too. He was at the Playboy mansion playing poker every night, or so it's been said.
What total hell to live in gambling every night, or even playing cards.
Once I spent an evening playing some card gambling game with two others, and betting was pennies.
Nearly made me brain dead by the end of the evening.
And they did it every night for weeks.
I never looked at them the same way ever again.
Not Don Adams. The Get Smart reboot was in 2008 and the Inspector Gadget animated series was not in the 'early days'.
@MrsF2U....Jackie Gleason wasn't a gambler but he did have another kind of addiction, he was a book buyer and spent a great deal of his money on his collection. When he died some went to a university but most of the older volumes were aquired by ......the Vatican.
Jackie had perhaps the largest and most valuable private collection of Occult/Paranormal/UFO books in the world at the time of his death.
Phil Silvers was brilliant and Sgt. Bilko was one of the funniest shows ever.
Very sad.
