Blind Item #5
A month before she even went on tour I told you to not waste your money to go see this former A list singer/federal inmate. I didn't even think the tour would go the distance, but I was sure, most nights people would leave angry and frustrated and wanting their money back. The result? People are frustrated and want their money back and for the singer to come to the show with at least more coherence than a late stage Amy Winehouse concert. These shows are a disaster.
Lauren Hill
ReplyDeleteAwww RIP Amy Winehouse that woman could probably still sing laps around anyone while incoherent
ReplyDelete'The Score' was easily my favorite album at one point.
ReplyDeleteRetrospectively, the amount of ghosts writing that fucking thing would keep the Ghostbusters busy for another two trilogies. Including one with a non cisgender cast.
And Pras supposedly fucked his kids so goodbye 'The Score,' call it family business
Lauryn Hill, of course.
ReplyDeleteSad to read this. She's a genius. Thin line, though.
ReplyDeleteNo, this myth has to be busted.
DeleteShe isn't.
Her shit was all ghostwritten. Then she made the serious error of believing her own hype.
The ghosts go "you think you're hot shit, don'tcha Skippy? Bet you can't write another 'Miseducation.'"
Turns out, she couldn't.
I'm sure the Ring of Solomon fits in the narrative somewhere in Wyclef's Haitian money laundering affair.
Until then stop heaping praise on a woman whose only notable accomplishments in the past 20 years have been shaving her head and showing up late to her own performances.
That makes sense...the ghostwriting part. That album was amazing and then nothing since really.
DeleteLauryn Hill is a narcissist and addict and little more. Want to be a singer? Show up on time.
ReplyDeleteMaybe so, @Geeljire. The pieces fit, I cannot deny. But I loved that album so much two decades ago. Tough to let go of all the myths that have been created when a few of them are so deeply rooted.
ReplyDelete+1. I loved that album
DeleteWho in the hell is paying to see her on tour? I knew this would be a disaster when this was announced. When someone shows you who they are the first time, believe them!
ReplyDelete@Geeljire it wasnt Pras it was a video director that was used at some point. Just because they are both black with dreds doesn't mean they are the same person.
ReplyDeleteGoogle Aswad Ayinde
I think you should Google my name and reassess how profoundly stupid this was to say to me
DeleteAnyone buying tickets to see Lauryn Hill live in 2018, knowing that she don't give 2 f**ks anymore, deserves the experience they're getting.
ReplyDeleteIt's L-Boogie. People in Toronto were furious after the last show.

I'm afraid I could care less about her concert goers... Didnt she have a corral of kids?
ReplyDeleteI have friends who went to her show - she was only an hour late and my friends sounded pretty happy.
ReplyDeleteA friend who works at a venue she appeared at said she showed up early for sound check then hung around downstairs doing absolutely nothing for hours. Went on at 1am for a 9pm show. Not sure why this is the image she wants to maintain, there was a full house until midnight when people got tired of waiting and left.
ReplyDelete1am for a 9pm show, maybe she's deliberately punishing her fans.
ReplyDeleteI'll say it again: still a better investment than Morrissey tickets.
ReplyDeleteAmy Winehouse was phenomenal live. She actually had talent.
ReplyDelete Ophelia! RIP Amy... I miss you everyday, and Valerie is still to this day my #1 song! The whole Back to Black album is my go to, raw, emotional, and amazing talent!
ReplyDeleteOphelia, that was a high five Emoji, don’t inow what happened there!
ReplyDeleteI saw Laren on tour with Nas in Northern Cali last year. Fantastic. Soulfull. Great show...dont belive the lies. Must be some heroin addicted Brit.
ReplyDeleteFrom a website, and still relevant now:
ReplyDelete"May 2016: Questlove is not having it. “Four hours (waiting) on their feet is inconsiderate and uncalled for,” he writes in his own Facebook post. He suggested Hill was facing down “the embarrassment of now being a one album legacy artist and the possibility of not mattering anymore in this disposable society.”
Fits even now.
I don't now
ReplyDeleteI used to
Have a career
Now I don't
This is such a shame. She has (or had) the most beautiful, soulful voice
