Blind Items Revealed #3

Despite the horror of the box office numbers that was this reboot of an old franchise, there is talk that Netflix wants to do another movie followed by a television show. Their first choice is to stay away from the foreign born A- list mostly movie actress who is an Academy Award winner/nominee. The problem they face is she gets paid for a sequel regardless if she is in it or not. As long as she does not drop out, she gets paid.

Alicia Vikander/Tomb Raider
please just let tomb raider be games... the games are great, the movies will never be able to live up to it so just stop.
ReplyDeleteShe negotiated a good contract. Now are all the Hollywood men who didn't gonna raise a stink over that? Doubtful.
ReplyDelete@J, I agree. It would be ridiculous for the men of Hollywood, who have historically enjoyed "good deals" above and beyond their female counterparts, to "raise a stink" because one actress got a piece of what they've been enjoying for years.
DeleteTomb Raider games lately are awful. I like the older versions.
ReplyDelete= Worldwide: $273,521,715 Cost 94 million to make, It is a success. Can't say it's very good, but by no means a disaster
ReplyDeleteRevenue sharing with theatres is 50% in the us,overseas it varies but China keeps the vast majority of the revenue.Budget for movie promotion is seperate, for Tomb Raider probably around 10 to 20 million at minimum.
Delete$94 million + marketing. Minus what the theaters get. Maybe after streaming/DVD it broke even.
ReplyDeleteCreepy Steven Spielberg talking about making next Indiana Jones a woman, but the failure of Lara Croft will hopefully spike that. Not that Steven Spielberg's ever going to be able to make another movie.
Yes, rule of thumb in box office discussion sites is overall budgetx2 for a movie to even have a chance at breaking, and the studios have a tendency to hide some of the costs.
DeleteLike netflix pays attention to expenses. LOL.
ReplyDeleteIt’s simple. Write her part (lara croft or however they cast her) as crappy and offensive to her as poosible so she drops out on her own. Then they can cast whoever
ReplyDeleteThe main issue with her, besides her bad acting in TR, was her drug use throughout the shoot. She often didn’t show up, showed up late, or showed up so messed up she was unable to work, which caused delays & increased the budget. Seems as if they could get out of the contract by saying she’s uninsurable.

DeleteLOL Wasn't Vikander hailed as the best thing about the movie?
DeleteIt doesn't look that she was so messed up in tons of BTS footage! Why do I think this actress' problems come straight up from tumblr fanfiction?
Alicia isn't going to drop out no matter what. Offers aren't rolling in post the failure of the LC reboot so why wouldn't she hold on to the deal? For what reason? I just don't get how or why they felt they needed to lock her in. She was so MEH from the start, like a fragile skinny unbelievable Lara Croft compared to Angie. They should have found an unknown who WAS Lara Croft and paid her little, made her career, let the franchise fly based on its own and previous popularity vs the lead alone.
ReplyDeleteShe'll play in the next movie and then she'll be sacked. That's the moment she'll join the MeToo bandwagon and tell us of the horrors of the casting couch. She must give great head.
DeleteHorrified with some of the comments here.
ReplyDeleteAlso, go back to school and learn Math. I was NOT a disaster.
The many many problems with that movie weren't her fault. Sounds like whomever is playing the blame game to stick around themselves.
ReplyDelete@ R SF
ReplyDeleteYes, you were a disaster, Vikander!
