I used to watch the preshow, the show, the after show. Now I barely pay attention. Chris Rock was good as a host.

Reading some of these comments reminded me...remember when MTV actually was kind of edgy? And fun? Those first couple years, big hair bands and new wave leather boys and Springsteen. You saw real talent on the VMAs. Now it's fashion and shock value for no purpose other than self-perpetuating buzz.
