Blind Item #7 - Birdie Blind Item
Here's one from back in the day:
We now know who won't be attending this convention of sorts, which is a kind of live, multi-day shout show. This story concerns however someone who will be attending. It takes place back in the day, at the height of his fame - owing entirely to this one character he played. You'll know him by what he wore.
One day, at a glass and china shop in the valley, the clerk made the mistake of making eye contact with him - you were never to do that. He flew into a rage, shattering vases, hurling crystal angels against the wall, and finally overturning a life-sized glass carousel horse. The flying glass injured staff and customers alike; several of them, including a mother and her young son, had to be hospitalized. The network, of course, made the bad press and charges go away. Apparently, it wasn't the first or last time.

Charlie Chaplin?
ReplyDeleteYeah unless it’s a convention for mediums, I don’t see Charlie attending... 🤷🏻♀️
DeletePaul Reubens (Pee Wee Herman)?
ReplyDeleteHarambe?
ReplyDeleteLou Ferrigno?
ReplyDeleteMr. T?
ReplyDeleteTrigger
ReplyDelete(although I have no clue what a "live, multi-day shout show" is)
Swinfa, I hear you wouldn't like him when he's angry....
ReplyDeleteI wouldn’t like his green body paint on my furniture... lol.
DeleteAnd men wearing clam diggers? Just no....
Chaplin is deceased,?as is Charlton Heston, who was my guess.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the live, multi-day shout show is Comi-Con?
ReplyDeleteAm I completely off?
An older Doctor Who? (because you'd know him for what he wore)
ReplyDeleteHenry Winkler.
ReplyDeleteFerdinand the bull.
ReplyDeleteWho is going to Comic Con? I bet shout show is a typo. Going with the mr.T guess from @ Thia.
ReplyDeleteBozo?
ReplyDeleteTHE CLOWN?! 🤡
Delete😂🤣💛🤣😂🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂✨🥂
Wreck it Ralf
ReplyDeleteBen Affleck for the actor not attending the Fall Comic-Cons...
ReplyDeleteAdam West is deceased....could this be Burt Ward?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Michael Keaton when he was Batman. Would that be considered his height of fame?
ReplyDeleteWhy are the guesses so fucking weird for this particular blind item?
ReplyDelete@sandybrook, I think the actor was on network TV. I thought the Batfleck clue meant a superhero as well.
ReplyDelete+1 The network made the bad preas go away. Eliminates movie actors like Chaplin. So TV guy known for his costume.
DeleteOscar the Grouch
ReplyDeleteBert’s got anger issues too (plus he’s closeted, and closeted equals unhappy).
Delete@Scandi,because this is back in the day and some of us are old.😂
ReplyDeleteLOl but Bozo tho. 😂😂😂😂 The last time I heard someone name Bozo on here was when someone compared him to Fabio on the J.Lo thread by Fabio’s former neighbour.
DeleteWilliam Katt? Greatest American Hero? Reboot coming on ABC.
ReplyDeleteLou Ferrigno ,for one simple reason in one of the Animated Avengers cartoons that have recently appeared on television be Hulk collects little glass figurines in his room in Avengers tower that might be a sly reference to this incident. And he hates when you touch or break them!
ReplyDeleteUuuuuh. So Hulk’s Laura from “The Glass Menagerie” now?
DeleteFunny I used to get assigned that character in class. Grrrr... 🙎🏻♀️
I always heard Lou Ferrigno was a nice guy.
DeleteAlso we know from recent reports Stan Lee won't be at comic con anymore.😥😥😥😥
ReplyDeleteSteve Burns?
ReplyDeleteCaroll Spinney
ReplyDeleteDean Cain
ReplyDeleteSince the guesses don't fit the blind -
ReplyDeleteTv Show from the past.
Some sort of show or convention (shout show)
One actor won't be attending
But the other will and he is a temperamental diva prone to outbursts of rage.
So the one not showing is probably disgraced, dead, or on the outs with the show.
The one attending is a Tom Cruise type - don't let crew look or speak to me.
I have no clue. I wish I had a time period to help out. We just know the show was from back in the day which could be anywhere from the early 2000's, 90', 80's, 70's etc.
For some reason Starsky and Hutch was what came to mind, with David Soul being dead, but I don't see that show having a convention etc.
Unless you're making some weird joke, David Soul isn't dead.
DeleteIn other words...
ReplyDeleteWe have no idea.
Matt Groening
ReplyDeletePoliticon could be considered a shout fest, and Henry Winkler is a speaker.
ReplyDeletehttps://politicon.com/2018-line-up/
Dean Cain's superman would have been a good guess, with Terri Hatcher being eligible both the part of the person not going and the person throwing the tantrum in the shop. But the blind clearly calls that person as a "he".
ReplyDeleteSo if we really want to get this and not just wait for Tricia or MD to solve it for us - guesses should be Show, actor clearly not going and reason, and male actor throwing tantrum/diva.
Definitely The Fonz. He seems to have changed a lot since then. (Hopefully.)
ReplyDelete@Someone
ReplyDeletePoliticon/ Winkler sounds good. Excellent job interpreting "shout show"
No way is it Henry Winkler. From every account he is one of the nicest and most genuine actors in Hollywood. He'll win the Emmy this year both for his performance and because he is universally beloved.

Cmon guys, its obviously Tiger Woods!
ReplyDeleteStan Lee is person no longer attending. Announcement a couple weeks ago he will no longer do Comic-Cons. Doesn't state an actor
ReplyDeleteDean Cain will be attending the NY Comic-Con in Oct. I figured he had roid rage back in the day.

ReplyDeleteIf it’s Politicon then Milo Y is the person not showing up.
ReplyDeleteThanks swinfa, Lou has been known to go to S.H.O.T. shows before.
ReplyDeletehahahahhahah +1 Brayson, RIP
ReplyDelete@Ophelia, they say you shouldn't make eye contact with gorillas, or throw your children to them
ReplyDeleteI have met and spoken with Lou Ferrigno and made eye contact with him and he was very nice. He did not Hulk-out on me. Extremely nice!
ReplyDeleteThis was after "The Incredible Hulk," perhaps he was different when younger, but I've always heard good things about him.
On the other hand, Henry Winkler, fits the "back in the day," "one role" and "what he wore" clues (1970s/Fonz/leather jacket). The late Heather O'Rourke was a regular for one season on "Happy Days," we should all recall.

@Queen, They're making a Greatest American Hero reboot, sweet! Used to love that sho wait, wait a sec, Hannah Simone? What about the goofy guy with crazy hair? How is it advancing anything to make her a super-powered dumbass f*ck up who crashes into everything? Sigh.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is Robin Leech for the isn't going part. since he just croaked.
ReplyDeleteI just want to know what kind of random shop in the valley would have a life size crystal horse in it?!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like Mr. T. Probably referring to the Shout tv/video convention.
ReplyDeleteSteroids are not good for the mood.
Jonathan Winters
ReplyDeleteI feel like Enty including “Crystal Angels” is some sort of clue
ReplyDelete@Scandi J was assigned to read the Laura part as well. There really is a Shout Convention? Then Mr. T is right.
ReplyDelete"Lion's Den said Jonathan Winters"
ReplyDeleteBest reference of the week winner.
Someone in or out of the closet, i.e., most straight men don't shop china or glass figurines.
ReplyDeleteWm Shatner
ReplyDeleteRerun from What's Happening.
ReplyDeletePaley Center (for "Shout Show")
ReplyDeleteHonoring Miami Vice
The know him by what he wore tool who was a bull in a china shop:
Don Johnson
A few years ago I went to a comic con & very obviously reverse photo-bombed Henry Winkler (didn’t want to pay the $35 to get his autograph). And then a few hours later, my friends & I saw him leaving. He was walking out nonchalantly, no entourage, just a little satchel in his hand and I screamed “See ya Barry Zuckercorn!!!” He smiled & waved. So I guess what I’m trying to say is, he seems like a pretty nice guy to me.

ReplyDeleteBloody hell, accidentally deleted my comment. Second try...
ReplyDelete"live, multi-day shout show" is the clue and my guess.
The Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon.
It was Televised over the weekend in the eighties or seventies. Jerry Lewis is a well protected pedophile with Deep State protection from more than two Governments.
Yet he has the keys to success through more than just talent.
oh wow excellent guess Coffee Bean.
ReplyDeleteWinkler IS one of the nicest guys in the business- I know from personal experience working on the set of one of his shows about 15 years ago- he was always beyond kind to us nobodies/newbies and took time to talk to us and sit with us at mealtime.
ReplyDeleteMy mother couldn't stand Jerry Lewis.
ReplyDeleteWhat about a wrestler from back in the day? There is always shouting and Wrestlemania is always a build-up-to event over a week or so. The BI states that you'd know them by what they wore as a character... that could be a wrestler. I honestly have no idea but I went straight to the idea of wrestling and "roid rage."
ReplyDeleteThe Jerry Lewis guess is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteHowever, could the shout event be a political convention?
Can anyone make sense of the almost illiterate mixing of past and present tenses here?
The telethon is a great guess but it ended in 2015 I believe.
ReplyDeleteJerry Lewis was evil, but this isn't him. MDA Labor Day thing wasn't a "convention" and Lewis was known for far more than one role or distinctive garb.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Hasselhoff? He would fit.
ReplyDeleteWell hopefully he had the cash for settlements/payouts to match that diva-ish attitude, otherwise he deserves one ole ass whooping!
ReplyDeleteHulk Hogan?
ReplyDeleteNo way this is Henry Winkler.
ReplyDeleteSteve Urkel?
