Blind Item #12

I don't think it would shock any of you that southern politicians of both parties have visited the house on St. Charles. I don't think it would shock any of you that a certain southern Senator who is completely 180 of who he used to be less than a year ago has visited. The thing is, the people who would do the leveraging of him would want something completely different than how he is acting. It makes you think that perhaps the people in charge are willing to sell their product to the highest bidder.

  7. Ted Cruz got lucky that he was harassed in that restaurant. It's the only thing I've ever seen that's made him look sympathetic.

Still, I think Beto's running away from a drunken accident will ultimately bring him down. Lots of things that happened 30 years ago don't show character - like just getting into a drunken accident - but running away from one does.

But hey, vote as you choose, one vote per person.

Personally, I just printed out and filled in my mail ballot today as my tiny protest against this Kavanaugh crap. I've voted for my (female) senator twice before, but she's been totally opportunistic and gross during this entire process, and I got a great deal of joy in filling in that little circle for her (female) opponent.

  27. The breathy, baby-voiced valley girl, vocal fry from a woman with 3 post-grad degrees and extensive international travel is better? Her deer in the headlights testimony rang false to me. Way too many inconsistencies. How can a woman with her CV still be so woefully unsophisticated to legalities when it comes to matters of sexual assault. Particularly when she has published material on childl abuse and it has affected her every breathing moment since. She said she could never fly to Australia because of her phobia, yet publicly threatened to move to New Zealand due to Trump’s alleged unfair funding cuts to scientific research. She admitted to couples counseling with her husband because she demanded another front door due to her PTSD from her alleged assault. Wouldn’t a back staircase leading to a back door make more sense given her testimony? If that wasn’t possible, then find a house that did. Two questions were asked on her lie detector. Whether, after telling her story, did she make it up or if she was lying. She replied no to both and was found to have passed. This is one of the reasons why lie detectors are inadmissible in court. If the subject truly believes the incident happened, even if all the evidence shows it didn’t, they can pass. She has never filed charges in Montgomery County. There have been no corroborating witnesses and many to the fact that it never happened. I, too, wish no ill will to Dr. Ford, but my gut instinct tells me she is a little batchit crazy.

  28. Seems like running your entire enterprise on blackmail can backfire, if the other side ever gets someone in charge who understands to fight fire with fire. Oops.

@Weekittylass, they were counting on Trump and Kavanaugh to nobly pull the nomination if they came on strong with accusations, because that's what Republicans usually do. When that didn't happen, they should have dropped it, but Creepy Porn Lawyer has more ambition than sense, and Feinstein is senile, so they doubled down. I feel kinda bad for Ford, because she does seem like someone who was hurt in the past, and they used her to try to pin that on an innocent man. So I don't feel *too* bad. Hopefully the whole story of the scheme they tried to pull will come out soon, and the people responsible will face justice.

    1. The Kavanaugh thing has made me sick to my stomach as well. But as a sexual assault survivor, I’m far more disgusted with how Republicans are handling this. Above all, this is a job interview, not a court of law; if a normal person behaved the way he behaved yesterday in a job interview, there is no way he would get the job. There are too many questions about the integrity of his character.

  34. It was fun to watch every leftist on social media turn on a dime from "OMG what a rapist" to "OMG what a crying baby" in about a ten second span. Gotta give the commies credit for group-think if nothing else.

And they might as well drop the FBI investigation nonsense. Six (6) FBI background checks, and they had plenty of time for an investigation since Feinstein has had the letter in her claw since July. They waited because their WHOLE PURPOSE was to delay the nomination until after the midterms so they could use it to motive their base. It could all have been handled quietly weeks ago, with no need for DOCTOR Ford to face any public questions. But Avenatti thinks he could be president, so he needed the publicity.

It worked once in Alabama. It won't work again. The unfortunate thing is that REAL victims of sexual assault may now find it harder to get people to believe them. Many who watched this farce today will be more skeptical. Hollywood rapists must be pleased.

"And they might as well drop the FBI investigation nonsense."

Why? If there is nothing there, the FBI will find nothing there.

    "Six (6) FBI background checks"

Not for a Supreme Justice position, however. Do you know the extent of most minor background checks? I do. It amounts to surveys sent out to people of your choosing to vouch for you. It's not a full FBI investigation into the seriousness of charges or insinuations. It's a fucking survey of your buddies.

    "They waited"

Who is "they"? Chuck Grassley who stalled at every opportunity for a hearing? Is that who you mean?

    "It worked once in Alabama."

Damn right it did! When a pedo goes stalking teenaged girls in a shopping mall, it SHOULD cause him to lose elections...unless one feels that White Men should be entitled to do whatever they please. But ain't that kinda what Weinstein and Singer and Woody Allen believe?

Curious what you choose to believe Cail, and what you don't. Gosh, could it be all GOP White Men are blameless of all crimes, and all Hollywood is guilty?

  39. By the way, check out the incredible dishonesty of Avenatti here. He brings forward a couple more accusers at the last minute when it's too late to get them in to testify. One has a shocking tale of gang rape, which everyone hears about even though there's no charge to face. So then when Ford testifies to something much milder, people who are inclined to believe her automatically bundle in the gang rape. Presto, they've convicted a man of serial gang rape in their minds (and their Twitter feeds), and no one had to swear to it and he never got a chance to defend himself against any specific charges.

That this was possible and applauded by half of our political class and most of the other elites in this country (and dingbats like Alissa Milano) should disturb all Americans.

Now they'll double down (again) and make this the issue of the midterms. We could tell them how that'll go too, but they wouldn't listen.

You needed no proof to convict people in Hollywood who have never been accused by a victim or anyone else other than enty or other alt-right trolls. Yet you automatically write off what Dr Ford and the other women have said. She spoke about this in therapy years ago, was she plotting then in the hope he got nominated for the supreme court? If he admitted it like Trump bragged about sexually assaulting women you'd still support him because you like his politics in the same way you did Trump.

By accounts tonight from within the Senate, he has the votes in the committee, as the four "moderates" have decided to vote to confirm, and he has the votes in the Senate to win confirmation. Here's a clue to successful parade of whores strategy...have some of the people named by the lying whore NOT disagree with what the lying whore is saying. Gotta find those liars who will corroborate. Fuggin' dumbocraps have done nothing but enrage and energize the conservative base, who will turn out in droves and deliver the toddlers another gut punch. Americans do not want lying, hysterial, violent nutcases running anything. Dems need to put the insane far left out of business and until that happens, they are out of power. 54. I'm no fan of Kavanagh and I'm frustrated that there is zero focus on his pro-corporatist decisions, his investigation into Vince Foster, his work for the Bush Administration, and his support for censorship of alternative media.

That said: He's better than DiFi, who is controlled by the Chinese, who had a spy in her camp for nearly 20 years and nobody's talking about it.

DiFi is a treasonous liar and needs to be in jail instead of running for re-election. She is a monster.

The Chinese spy story should be huge, much bigger than the Kavanagh story. Yet the NYTimes hasn't even bothered to write about it and the Washington Post has spent a couple articles telling us it's no big deal.

    https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2018/08/01/details-chinese-spy-dianne-feinstein-san-francisco/

    ReplyDelete
  55. @DDonna

The reason Kavanaugh is way worse than DiFi is because for the last 18 months he has been writing decisions that basically side with Trump to curry favor. Those decisions have uniformly stated that presidents are essentially kings for 4 years and can do whatever the fuck they want. Kavanaugh argues that this was the intention of our Constitution. Do you agree?

So, Kavanaugh will be presiding, sooner or later, over one of the many court cases mounted against Donny and his family. Trump is placing him on the SCOTUS because he will fall in line and decide without fail against anyone who threatens Donny or the Trumps.

Not only that but Kavanaugh is worse than Mitt Romney in his belief that corporations are the most special people of all who deserve all the special rights of personhood. Good-bye individual Constitutional protections for all of us, though it will be framed as a black versus white issue so us white folk will buy in...like we always seem to...which is how Trump was elected in the first place. Aren't we grand!

You may be right about DiFi, I don't know. I consider her one of the dinosaur Boomers. She votes mostly in favor of things I care about but often steps outside the lines for corporate favors. Except for standing and filibustering for so long last year, I can't think of anything impressive she has done.

Spies are everywhere. Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese, Mexican, the only country backing off on it's spy activities is the USA over the last 2 years. Wonder why.

More college classmates are coming out of the woodwork to describe him as a stumbling and belligerent drunk (well no shit, he was being interviewed for a job and screwed that pooch with his irrational anger, I think. Something tells me the cork ain't back in the bottle for old Bret.)

The vote in committee has been delayed one week for an FBI investigation.

The ABA had concerns about our Bret 12 years ago during a background check. They were ignored by the GOP. So much for Bret's claims that he passed every background check with flying colors. He did not.

New evidence that the Senate staff refused to meet with the 2nd accuser or pass her name on to the Judiciary Committee.
