So, last night something happened which really disturbed one of my spies to the point they said they just need to get out of the music business. It is just so toxic right now. I don't think people realize that #MeToo or #TimesUp never even really set foot in the music industry. Yes, there is the Dr. Luke/Kesha situation, but that is it. Even that is far from settled with people taking sides about what really happened.
For the most part, things have become worse, not better over the years. The abuse of power by producers and A&R people is crazy. They hold so many cards and if you want in the game, you are going to play by their rules. They know it and take advantage of it. You want to play a club or get your single played at a club or on the radio? Those in power take advantage. All of this extends to almost the A list level. There are too many people waiting to take your place and singers are easily interchangeable.
Last night, this barely able to drive singer who has a huge following, but not a big music presence yet, was confronted by two men. One was in his 30's and the other probably in his 40's, although could have been a little older. The one in his 30's is part of her music world and she was kissing him and flirting and he had his hands all over her body and under her dress.
Then, the guy in his 40's shows up and starts yelling at the singer and the guy and takes a shove at the guy. Apparently this guy is the one who has been paying the bills for the singer while she transitions from one career to the next. Apparently he even paid for her dress and he gets so angry he tries to rip the dress off the singer to take it back with him and return it. Things get crazy heated. Finally, this singer just tells the 30 something guy she needs to go and leaves the party with the older guy who has his arm kind of around her neck and he is telling her she has a lot of making up to do to him and they can get started in the car.
My spy said they almost threw up. It was so sick and there were no signs of any parental supervision or anyone watching out for her and my spy said the sad thing is the singer might never even have a hit or a career, and will be bouncing between men like that hoping for a hit and that hey can deliver.

Yara Shahridi?
ReplyDeleteCash Me Outside teen
ReplyDeleteI can see it being Cash Me Outside if she's 16. Besides her it could be anyone with a following on YouTube.a
ReplyDeleteDanielle Bregoli (cash me outside) is 15, is that barely able to drive?
ReplyDeleteNot Yara. She’s 18. Danielle Bergoli could fit.
ReplyDeleteRebecca Black?
ReplyDeleteCash me outside girl fits. There is also Loren Gray who is 16 and big on YouTube.
ReplyDeleteRebecca Black was my thought - has 1.2m followers on Twitter despite that one song and she has been in the blinds before for trying to get her career going by hooking up with older men.
ReplyDeleteRebecca is about 20 now.
ReplyDeleteA question no judgement. What would happen if your spy intervened in some way? Not violently, but confronted the men? Do they fear for their career? Do they just freeze? What is the worst that could happen? Maybe the girl wanted someone to do tbis. If you know for a fact this girl is not legal, why wouldn't you? I know if it was an unknown, they may look younger ,so maybe you do nothing. This is not the case here. There is a very good chance drugs or alcohol are involved.
ReplyDeleteCash me outside is a rapper, not singer, no?
ReplyDeleteLoren Grey was there wearing a neon yellow dress.
ReplyDeleteRebecca black is 21. Leaves her out due to the comment about barely being able to drive.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Bregoli signed a deal for a Reality TV show. Maybe that's the "while she transitions from one career to the next"
ReplyDeletethis could fit a few people but I feel like it's one of the youtube stars that was attending the AMAs. +1 Loren Gray guess
ReplyDeleteThis could be any of the 16 or under girls in the industry. I won't guess an underage victim now. Why doesn't anyone guess the men?
ReplyDelete^^^^ because the men aren't famous, how can we?
ReplyDeleteMackenzie Ziegler.
ReplyDeleteIf they are in a position to make someone famous, they are names in the industry.
ReplyDeleteLoren Gray. Very popular in the musically scene and trying to transition into the real deal recently.
ReplyDeleteZiegler is a great guess. I would imagine the career transfer is dance to music.
ReplyDeleteBhad Bharbi
ReplyDeleteLoren Gray
ReplyDeletebillie eilish?
ReplyDeleteGive me a break - Bregoli has a "career" (hah!) because she was an obnoxious twat on the Dr. Phil show offering to fight anyone that looked at her sideways - that's the SOLE reason she was plucked from obscurity. Now, on CDAN, she's referred to as a "singer" (puh-leez), and portrayed as an abused youngster? Eff that. She bought her ticket and I'm sure she's more than happy to turn it over to whomever wants it. I don't care how old she is or isn't. She and her mother asked for what they're getting, and their 15 minutes ended 20 minutes ago.
ReplyDeleteUm..that little girl is making bank..her shit is just getting started
Delete@Tierney unfortunately, she does have a music career. She tours.
ReplyDelete"There are too many people waiting to take your place and singers are easily interchangeable."
ReplyDeleteYep.
Maybe try working for a living instead of selling yourself to become a "star?"
Or, if you do sell yourself, live with your choices?
Parental supervision? If this is the cash me outside chick, did you see her mother on Dr. Phil, where she got her start? Nothing but white trash looking for a payday.

ReplyDeleteargh makes me sick

ReplyDelete"What would happen if your spy intervened in some way? Not violently, but confronted the men? "
Then we would have no blinds at all, especially those where the assaulter is protected far more than the victim.
You know how this works.
+1 ClareJanes, Loren Grey, 16, fits best, model, influencer, singer

The spy in this story is an total idiot if they didn't know this was how their industry works. Why are they in it at all?
ReplyDeleteThere have always been some extremely awful people working in the music biz (way worse than films & TV, & Enty is right #MeToo & #TimesUp have barely made a dent in the music biz so far), but this is some incredibly flagrant behavior. I think I would have followed at a safe distance, gotten license plate #s etc & reported this one to the police. Too bad the spy did not have a body camera on to catch all this. And oh yes, I think the spy is more than justified in quitting here.
ReplyDeleteWould have been great if your spy did something other than giving you the blind. Kind of makes me sick honestly.
ReplyDeleteYara is not ratchet like this. Danielle is my choice
ReplyDeleteThe Gatekeeper, by Jessie Reyez. It's about a music producer she later named.

People asking why the watcher didn’t intervene clearly don’t live in L.A. First off, this scene, while not common, is certainly not unusual. There are a lot of powerful, asshole men abusing drugs/alcohol in L.A. that will start yelling, grabbing, insulting etc right In public without compunction. The victim is generally there voluntarily and is quietly trying to placate them. Is it gross and sad? Yes. Is it criminally prosecutable without the help of the victim? Usually not. Because it’s L.A. there is a continuous revolving door of pretty boys and girls who will put up with anything for their (hopeful) careers. And what happens to the person who intervenes? They get a raving drug-addled lunatic focusing their ire on them - and interrupting a rageaholic is a bad, bad, idea. It really incenses them. The victim is embarrassed, not grateful, and possibly angry that you have called attention and worsened the situation. They will DEFINITELY get hit at home now, thanks for that.
ReplyDeleteI’m not in ANY WAY defending abusers, these situations make me nauseous. But the simplistic idea that you can just jump in and make everything better is ridiculous. Slipping the victim a card for a victims rights organization might help, and anything we can do to support #MeToo type organizations helps. But unless you catch a rape or SERIOUS assault on camera, the victim can simply deny everything.
@Kat,this man ripped her dress, and it is known to the witness that the girl is underage. Much different than an adult situation,as you said to some degree an everyday occurrence. To say they will definitely get hit at home because someone intervened is ridiculous, they likely would anyway. I have known people that were in abusive relationships, and while they keep coming back, they at least know there is someone willing and able to help when they need it. That is something a younger person may not understand.
ReplyDeleteI think this is Loren Grey and it’s so sad that she’s 16 in the streets of LA navigating the glam swamp. I must admit, she’s strikingly pretty and fits the bill as far career transition. I was an A&R rep in NYC for a few years and couldn’t do it. I was young, dumb, and full of cum & definitely struggled with the sense of power. Guys/bands always inviting you places, flirting, etc. After the second model bro, who I totally lied to and made grandiose stories of getting him out of modeling and into music, I had to walk away. I’m not the kind of lady but in big cities where it’s survival of the fittest and lonely AF, it was too convenient to manipulate young, hunky, model boys from Minnesota and Ohio to blast one off for a night. Ugh. I’m older now and could never but I still carry that guilt... I don’t think NYC is as bad as LA in regards to this kind of gross behavior but it’s still live and well. I wish the world wasn’t so sick.
ReplyDeleteKat - your description of a public abuse situation/intervention is right on. Oh, yes she's going to get it worse because 'look what you made that guy do'. Food for thought, if H'Wood became a little braver - more woke. Just a little vocal. 'Hey, what's going on over there?' Naive, I know.
ReplyDeleteHopefully not naive, hopefully #MeToo expands to ALL businesses - but my point is that the victim WANTS to be there, this is their meal ticket, their shot at fame. They don’t give a fuck if they get their dress ripped in public, there’s 50 more tweens waiting in the wings to replace them, literally begging for that dude to rip their dress. The abuse won’t stop until the entire business model is flipped.
ReplyDeleteI’m friends with two movie directors, and when we go out women literally throw themselves at them - with their wives. right. there. (These guys are, no offense, not hugely attractive.). The entire situation is so ripe for abuse when the power differential is so massive.
If you know who she is, save her. How gross to use her as gossip fodder when it sounds like she's been used enough.
ReplyDeleteOh please go back to school. Yes these men are gross and abusers but from most part seems to be a 2 way road between people who want fame and easy fortune and others who make them do horrible things to achieve it. Talent seems to be as rare as decent people
ReplyDeleteMillie Bobbi Brown. Drake. Adam Levine.
ReplyDeleteShe performed on stage with Maroon 5 recently. And she is a singer. And she and Drake have a peculiar friendship...
According to the reveal page its loren gray, a muscially star now trying to be a legit singer. To me ALL those musically kids are nothing but walking prey. Theyre all just so.. So FAMOUS and I'm lke HOW??? you got started lip singing and now you're modeling, getting shows, etc. I'm not shocked by this since to me loren comes off as a kid who will do anything for the stardom. Sadly I'm seeing that a lot with some of these kids, you see the lust for MORE cameras flashing and fashion show attendances, more lust for becoming SOMEBODY in the industry. Its disgusting, you see it in their eyes man..
ReplyDeleteSo why doesn't anyone do something or say something????? - So messed up. Surely who writes this or who 'saw' it has a moral obligation to at least say do something. No my career, money, self-importance is more important than the ritual abuse of young kids and teens.. Everyone involved is complicit
ReplyDeleteIt's not Danielle Bregoli.
ReplyDeleteIf you're so stupid to fall for this kind of shit you may deserve the faace full of spunkie you get for it.
ReplyDeleteMackenzie Ziegler is only 14 so don't think this is her, Maddie Ziegler just turned 16 but is she trying to transition to music?
