She is thankful for Propecia.
Out of curiousity because I really dont know, does dyeing your hair damage it and cause hair loss?
Ariana has been losing her hair for some time now.
I would think constantly pulling it into a high pony would damage it, but it would break off more than cause baldness imo.
@sandy
It can depend on the quality of the products, stylist, and your hair itself. A friend of mine in his early 20s had his hair fall out in clumps after years of dyeing it himself. He just shaved his head and that was the end of that, but he never colored it again.
I do know that certain prescription drugs like BP controllers have a side effect of hair loss
I see, thanx Sara.
@Dena,
I think she uses fake hair for the pony tails.
I don't know how Gwen Stefani has any hair at this point.
Sandybrook - no generally that stuff doesn't cause hair loss in healthy people.
Ariana was photographed a couple times with her hair up in piggy tail buns (no extensions)
I actually think maybe she has trich and pulls out her hair (from the inside or underside/scalp, where you can't see . That would explain a lot, it's an anxiety disorder
Shes definitely high maintenance.
Between the extensions and the hair coloring/styling, I think most of them are going bald.
I was going to say - this one isn’t new news.
@Dena - Thank you!!! Yes, this. Mine would look like a loofah. No idea how she handles regrowth.
It looks to me like Ariana has a lot of hair I know ponytail is fake but what about scalp hair. I don't see any recession?
I don't know why I know this much but she claims that her hair got severely damaged from dying it that fire hydrant red for Nickolodeon, which probably is true since to get a shade like that she would have had to bleach her hair and then dye it constantly.
So the ponytail is always extensions, and yes pulling your hair back that tightly does cause premature hair loss.
Also I was going to bring up today but figured I'd wait for the daily Ari blind - wasn't there a blind last year that Ariana was going to win the Billboard Woman of the Year but refused to sleep with the right people so it went to Selena?
Well she won this year O.O
I've been coloring my hair since I was 16 - that's 20+ years - and not much damage.
Grande's fake ponytail has to be fixed to her real hair which causes pulling out of her real hair. I think this Grande.
@Sandy: Haircolor only damages hair when you bleach it a lot (think platinum blondes) or go too far away from your original color. Because you have to ‘lift’ out the original color with chemicals, then ‘deposit’ the new color.
When looking at Ariana at the awards, my first thought was that she will be in her 60s and still sporting the same look-high pony, thigh high boots, short puffy skirt.
ice angel i loved that outfit and was jelly that she gets to wear it... it really was fun and age appropriate
Ariana has bleached her hair quite a lot so that would have definitely done the damage. I bleached my hair a few times as a teenager and my hair color is similar to hers naturally. It literally took about five years for it to recover.
Bertny Spears, hair damaged from the extensions
Ariana Grande
Isn't this an issue for women who have tight braids and such? The end of Ariana's ponytail might be fake but if you keep pulling the hair on your scalp so tight it can cause hair loss.
Two friends of mine had to use Propecia, their hair was falling out because of stress. Eating disorder will do it too. For women, hair loss is stressful enough.
It's the f*cking drugs, it's not rocket science. I've seen female users start losing hair in clumps.
Beyoncé. She has less hair than Jay Z and has been using wigs forever.
Constant dyeing/bleaching, and/or wearing hair pulled tightly back will result in loss. Seen it in children under 10 who've had their hair pulled back in braids since being toddlers.
I've been losing my hair from a diagnosed condition called telegen effluvium) which is stress/trauma (& hormonal) related. I was on life support in hospital after a botched operation. After sorting out the more urgent issues, I had hair loss every day & used to dread washing my hair because of it.
The shampoo I use now is really good for stopping/slowing hair loss: 'Watermans Grow Me' shampoo - it is sulfate-free and contains caffeine, biotin & argan oil. I think I got it from either Amazon or eBay. (Not advertising, just thought this might be helpful.)
sandybrook.....I've been colouring my hair for 50years, usually dark blond to lighter blond, but to jet black and red on occasion. My hair is still thick and long. It depends entirely on your own hair type and what product you use. I have always used Clairol products and never had a problem with them. It was only after I had my hair coloured at a salon a few times that I found any problem with stinging or the condition of my hair and went back to doing it myself. In answer to your question yes it can happen but isn't inevitable.
On a side note apparently your hair changes about every 7 to 10years, so it will never be exactly as it was in your teens even if you have never coloured it in your life.
While we are on hair , have you ever wondered why some people have curly hair and some dead straight.....it depends on the follicle holes which pepper your scalp, if you have perfectly round follicle beds your hair will be straight, if they are oval the hair twists as it grows out and you get wavy/curly hair, the more oval the follicle bed the curlier your hair.
Chemo and radiation therapy can alter the shape as well and that’s why many cancer patients hair grows out differently compared to their pre chemo treatment.
I once read about a spurned hair dresser or assistant- don’t recall the specific role- of JLo’s that ratted her out for being almost bald. All the hair you see is supposedly totally fake except some wisps around her face.
Pete Davidson has jokes about Propecia and the side effect of a lowered sex drive in his set.
It's not uncommon for women of a certain age to experience hair loss, so my bet is Stefani.
I had very curly thick hair for years. It changed in my latd thirties..
