Blind Item #7

While her A list mom is dying, this B- list celebrity offspring us using that as an excuse to not only use again, but embrace using. It is pretty sad to watch.

She came out yesterday with the "I'm not dying" interview.

+1 Tricia13 (I even liked the typo guess - that made me lol).

This is all so sad. Reality won't hit Chloe until it's too late.

Lol Glue...
I find this sad if true as well.... ONJ seems like a good woman and this would surely break her heart/spirit

If she's not dying the Enquirer did a helluva photoshop job on her recent picture. But then everyone famous is dying according to the Enquirer (and technically they would be correct.)

Brayson87 said...

Well she certainly doesn't look like she's on chemo, which can mean one of two things.

B- ??

Talk about grade inflation.

Bing said...

You guys must not know chemo if you’re saying she doesn’t look like she’s on chemo. First of all, there is chemo lite which means you don’t lose your hair as much. Second of all, she could of had chemo a while back and it didn’t work. 3 of all, not everyone on chemo loses their hair- you can use cryo caps and fasting to stop hair loss. Yeah I’m stage 4 so I know what I’m talking about. Just because you can’t see someone has cancer doesn’t mean they don’t have it. I saw Bowie At my cancer clinic one month before he died and he looked “fine”. It’s a pet peeve of mine for people to assume cancer or health based on shitty stereotypes from bad lifetime tv shows about cancer.

@Bing, i’m Sorry for what you are going through. I cannot even imagine. A dear friend of mine is also recently diagnosed and getting ready for her second round of chemo Tuesday. Prayers for your swift recovery.

Brayson87 said...

@Bing, apologies. The people I've known with cancer who did chemo generally looked the worse for wear vs the people that didn't.

I wouldn't take KeNo. Not if you handed me a winning lottery ticket.
Biggest profit engine in the Pharm industry. I was advised to have it nine yrs ago due to a massive tumor. I flatly refused.
It would destroy my good cells, and kill me. Happened to two loved ones.
Stop doing everything that some doctor "orders".
They are running a business..like any business.they get kickbacks for signing you up.
I am amazed that people keep taking this organized poison.
Should you suffer thru KeNo, just so some guy can get a Mercedes and buy his kid a new condo?
One day people will look back in amazement, that humans were this naive.

I work with cancer patients and some of them look healthier than me. It doesn't always show. Also, she could be wearing a nice weave. But i find it sad that her health situation is out there like that. I don't think it's a public matter and just the fact that she had to make a video to clarify things is terrible. The woman is battling cancer and she has to make a video . Even if she is at the last stages of her life, she should be allow to go through it privately. Stupid hollyweird.

@lydia as someone IN big pharma, this is grossly untrue and a blantant lie. Please don’t spread shit and lies like this just because of your own personal beliefs.

Brayson87 said...

@Megan, when are we going to get the newest "non addictive" renamed versions of hydrocodone and oxycodone? All these current restrictions are a real bummer.

Do Tell said...

Bing, my ex-mother-in-law had stage 4 breast cancer and she beat it. I wish you the best.

Megan said...

@brayson I have no idea I don’t work for a company that makes those types of medications. My point is that providers don’t receive kick backs for writing certain drugs, for putting people on chemo, or for giving out vaccines. It’s simply untrue.

Muckduck said...

Well, that's not true. I am an RN, EVERY doc I have worked for has gotten SOMETHING out writing certain drugs. You work for big pharma so of course you're going to defend them.

Brayson87 said...

+1 Muckduck, I don't know about chemo or vaccines, but there are lots of kickbacks to doctors for writing certain newer prescriptions. Maybe not cash or gash, but definitely trips and other things. Well sometimes the later depending on the sales rep.

nancer said...

ok, here's how it works. i was an office nurse and dealt with the drug reps. when a drug rep comes in (and this was true in the offices of 3 different doctors i worked for), everything stops. the drug rep gets to see the dr. you may be waiting on him but this person (who most patients don't know is a drug rep. it's just a well dressed person carrying a briefcase) will get in immediately. they just drop by, too. they don't have appointments. their meeting will last 10-20 minutes.

do you know why this is? think about it. so when someone says 'doctors don't get kickbacks for prescribing certain drugs', i say bullshit. because i'm smart enough to figure out why those meetings are such a priority and why doctors don't want to talk about it. they have deniability but it's clear to me what all that's about. should be clear to you too.

I've worked in various private practices in which the psychiatrist(s) would meet with the drug reps. Sometimes we would be invited to hear what they had to say, too. And we went to Grand Rounds at one of the hospitals and got 1 hour of CEU's each time, plus a buffet lunch. Listen, we could have gone out for dinner at any nice restaurant in town, any night of the week due to the drug reps. Sometimes we did. I remember one of the psychiatrists saying that they couldn't pay for trips anymore, but he really enjoyed the meals and drinks. I don't know they they managed to pay for conferences or not. But, there are lots of benefits to doctors meeting with the drug reps. I worked with one who was known as The Prozac Doc and that's what he mainly prescribed. I don't think that the oncologists get a bonus of money or anything like that for prescribing chemo. There was a pharmacist in Kansas City who cut the chemo meds and was caught because the drug reps were able to show what he was ordering and what was being prescribed and what was being charged to the various clients. He ended up going to prison. I hope he lost his license to practice. I think there must be a special place in hell for people like him. Imagine, doing that to someone? That's narcissistic behavior, through and through.

We really need a medical CDAN. The sh!t you hear from doctors, nurses, pharmacists and even dentists is way crazier than most of these blinds.

Megan said...

@muckduck if that is true, that’s happening now in 2019, I suggest you report the doctor and the company doing it. It’s not only highly illegal it’s unethical and I’d wonder why you even work for someone who does that

@nancer have you ever sat in on those meetings? There are new drugs with new clinics trials, new outcomes, new safety data coming out all the time. Any smart doctor would meet to learn about those things (and do their own independent research as well).

@brayson I work in exactly that type of pharma now- new prescription drugs coming out and I assure you they do not receive anything for prescribing, other than patient outcomes the medication provides. It may have been like that 20 and even 10 years ago but it absolutely isn’t like that now

The xray pics on Medical Edition CDAN would make us LOL

Thank you all for the well wishes! I’m still alive and reading this to distract myself. Msk got into huge shit for conflict of interest. American cancer society and breast cancer society are filled with board members for merck, Bristol Myers Squibb and a few board members recently found to have omitted their conflicts for a few research studies. This was published in nyt and propublica a few days ago. The for profit health Care is really at the expense of people’s lives. I have had doctors recommend I do injections that cost 7k a month (paid by insurance) for 5 years vs a one time surgery that costs about 33k as an outpatient. The hospital motivations, big pharma and insurance motivations don’t always align but the one thing they have in common: make as much money off of you at the expense of your life. Someone’s gotta make a buck out of your sickness and the people that lose are ultimately the people without insurance and without resources.

nancer said...

no. nobody sat in on those meetings. it was one to one. never saw one otherwise.

Brayson87 said...

Nobody should give Megan a hard time. A lot of the actually good folks in big pharma are way on the kool aid. And they really like to b!tch about the inferior ingredients in generics. Very strange dates.

I think that the drug reps give lots of samples out, which the patient tries, and hopefully ends up using longer term.

It's just the professional version of the corner drug dealer giving "tastes" of drugs to hook customers.

Chemo reacts differently in everyone, I have two relatives that had cancer and both did chemo..
They were sick as a dog for two weeks and went back to work.. They both had upset stomach and diarrhea, but they are both now cancer free.. Neither lost their hair but my aunt's hair texture totally changed, its dry and brittle...
She's still trying to do something with her hair, but like I said they are both cancer free.. TUJ
Cancer is just like any other disease, everyone body reacts to medication differently and some have to do several rounds of chemo.
That's like every two to three weeks, you're going in for chemo.. Some don't get sick at all, my neighbor drove herself to and from chemo
because her husband couldn't stand being in hospitals...I started taking her to get her chemo at MBP (MaryBirdPerkins) Cancer center.
They knew me there from my family members... I wish Olivia the very best and I hope her daughter get it together because if she doesn't, and her mother dies, she will then use drugs all day every day.. That pain she feels inside is going to be a million times worse without her mother... Goodnight sleuths y'all are very good

Trapped: It sounds as if your aunt may have "chemo curl" or some variation thereof--frequently hair initially grows back much coarser, dryer, and curlier, and continues to grow that way until (apparently) the chemo finally clears your system and your body begins to get back to normal. My mom went through this when she had chemo for breast cancer in 2005 (she's fine now, God willing), but her hair eventually came back the way it had been; it just took some time. Also, if you were going gray before, you'll *really* be gray afterwards, and your scalp will most likely be too sensitive to color your hair for a while. There are a couple of photos of Julia Louis-Dreyfus out with very short, curly, gray hair, so presumably she's been dealing w/chemo curl as well. There are the new cooling caps one can wear to help reduce hair loss, but they don't necessarily work for all types of chemo, so do keep that in mind.

Anyway...Bing, here's wishing you lots of luck in your battle, and anyone else out there dealing with the beast. A friend of mine has just been diagnosed, so we're rallying the gang for her and her family as we speak...

Long time lurker. First time poster. Former drug rep here! I can assure you that we absolutely do not walk into any office and waltz in to talk to a dr for 10-20 minutes. We walk in, basically beg the staff to let us back, only to really fill the bins with free samples and coupons for patients and wait sometimes an hour or more for “quick sign only” for the samples by the dr. Sometimes a particular dr might like you, so maybe he/she will give you 3 minutes, all the while you’re receiving the dirtiest of looks from the staff. It’s embarrassing and demeaning. I’ve never been treated more rudely in my life. But! It’s a job and it paid the bills and had great benefits so we do it, only to get laid off once a year hoping you’re not too “old” at 35 for another company to hire you. I know the perception of us well, good looking spoiled brats, but for the most part we’re just trying to take care of our families like the rest of you. I don’t do it anymore, former/current model but still aged out at 40. Sorry it grates on me when people create such an unrealistic portrait of reps. As in any industry, of course there are bad eggs, but my story is certainly more common.

I’m catching up on yesterday’s comments this morning and glad I saw this one. After the transphobia and warren discussion on the last two, I’m so glad to see so many well wishes for @bing here! I hope the very best for you as well, one of my favorite things on those site is the commentary chatter between posters. Here’s to many more comments in the future, even while you’re not distracting yourself from treatment.
