Blind Item #3

This A- list mostly movie actress who is an Academy Award winner/nominee had her living situation revealed because of some recent court filings unrelated to her marriage. Now, anyone who bothers to look up the paperwork can see she is living alone.

  3. NP is usually fine, but she deserves a (temporary) down-grade after how much "Annihilation" sucked, and how badly they fucked-up the source material. I'm not usually a "the book is better" person, but the plot line they added to the movie that wasn't in the book completely changed everyone's motivations in the movie, and made it PC non-sense.

I'll not be watching the second installment.

    1. How did they make it PC, Thotty?

I’m glad they didn’t make “American Psycho” PC and favoured the message over crowd-pleasing. Taht whole package (book and film alike) is my role model now. 🖤

The whole marriage as a cancer thing worked for me. Every single miserable person I know happens to be married.

  4. @scadi - SPOILER ALERT: The books over-arching theme are basically a romance novel that love conquers all - even ongoing aliens entities invading and body-snatching, her and her husband's love is so strong, that it even affects the entities trying to recombine their DNA on a genetic level that the entities couldn't predict or comprehend that leaves them dumbfounded and confused by it.And that they are both willing to sacrifice everything for their connection. So much so, that when the entity makes a "construct" that doesn't know or realize that it's really not her husband, but she knows it isn't. Hence the mission in the movie into the alien-zone to find her real husband. Sort of a classic "us against the world" story but with alien entities.

In the movie, her character has an affair with a character they made-up just for the movie that does not exist in the books and she doesn't have an affair with any one. That they spend a lot of screen time on this affair and with this character doesn't make any sense and is counter the to theme of the books and adds nothing to the story. It's like, what the fuck does this have to do with anything. The PC part is the character. Any ways, it was shocking and unexpected and ruined the movie, for me at least.

I'd be interested in reading the opinions of others who read the books first and then saw the movie, and what they thought about that addition.

    1. Thanks, Thotty.

Never sell your books’ rights, I guess.

  5. So what's the deal with Natalie Portman's marriage, not so hot? That sucks.

@Thot & Scandi, Hollywood butchers books and everything else on a regular basis. Movies are like short stories, tv series are best for novels.

  6. Only low IQ Republicans blame "political correctness" for everything they don't like and who the fuck would see such a stupid-looking movie to begin with? Portman sucks as an actress.

    1. You sound like a wonderful human being, Florence.

How utterly “progressive” of you to use “low IQ” as an insult.

  7. @bray & scandi - I don't usually complain about them because I'm sure film-adaptations are hard to get right. But this wasn't that - it was willful with a lot of forethought and had a purpose. I haven't decided what the purpose was, but it had nothing to do with trying adapt the book.

    1. LOL, nobody “adapts books” anymore, Thotty.

They just want to make money.

If I hear one more Hollywood exec talk about the “Asian market”, I’m going to absolutely flip.

  8. @Thot, Know what you mean, ever read or see The Postman? It was an interesting read about the power of lies and symbols in bringing people together, but the movie was just about f*cking horsemen and the postal service.

  9. How can the Nat be living alone unless she doesn't have custody of the kids? Or is an absent husband sufficient for "alone" status even with kids in the house? Are they just props like the Brangelina brood?
Frau Hershlag's father was a mad scientist specializing in making women preggers so maybe the kids are IVF and she's actually as frigid as she looks. Marrying a French faggot is kind of a giveaway, to be frank. She may, herself, be born of the test tube. That would explain her clone, Keira. Nat is part of a batch of cookies, clearly.

    1. Supposedly the father of her first child is Darren Aronofsky who directed her in Black Swan. But she married Benjamin Millepied who was also in the movie. Not sure about the second child.
