"The rocker courted controversy after he met Mandy Smith in 1984, when she was 13 and he was 47.
Prosecutors considered bringing charges against him two years later, but decided to not take action.
The pair married in 1989, when she was 18, but divorced two years later."
eeeewwwww 13 and 47? If I was her parents I'd want him prosecuted as a paedophile that instant.
@MissHanigan - Pitchfork issued an apology for the oversight in ooking R Kelly and ran it in their publication. It came out a couple of years after his performance but I think it was only printed in their magazine and website only and this is why people didn't see it.
Pitchfork are the biggest hypocrites in the biz. Trash any white rocker guy with a hint of allegations but let all the rappers/hip hop/pop crap get off until its like wayyyy to late. Disgusting behavior over there.
That Bill Wyman/Mandy Smith relationship was top line tabloid fodder during its whole run. Anyone alive in the 80s couldn't deny knowing about that!
Speaking of Bill Wyman - did you know his bride's mother was once engaged to his son? True story.
"I gave him the best nonconsensual years of my life!"
Applethief4Elliot- Priceless!
Radiogirlnyc-- That's one for the "You Can't Make This Shit Up" file, for sure!😲
see, this is why i like the beatles.
none of them raped kids.
@never aren't there rumors about the beatles being disgusting pervs while at an ashram in india involving underage girls. Didn't enty say there maybe children fathered by George living in india? wasn't lennon a wife beater?
+10000 I just listened to that baby groupie podcast.sick.
When The Beatles were in India John, George and Ringo were their with their wives and Paul was there with Jane Asher. They were busy meditating and writing songs for The White Album. There were never rumors of them there with underage girls.
Yep. No surprise here. We also were knew that Jimmy Page imprisoned a young girl in his mansion. It was gross then and horrific now. Just remember: men ruled the world and only the bravery of a few brought the situation to light. Those few guys were heroes. Nothing came of it but those men did not shirk their duty. Others did. But not the men who pursued the situation.
Hmmm.. What podcast is this? I'm behind on Disgraceland which is the only musician exposing pod I've found and kept up w until they went on break last month or so...
I listened to a podcast episode about him, and read a few things here and there that Lennon was a cheat, a child abusing ahole to his kid, and had an affair with his very young assistant. I don't know about the rest of the guys, but Lennon was def not one of the good ones.
Previous blind about GH and teens.he went wild in India and cheated all the time. Don't kid yourself John was an ass to Cynthia too.
Yeah, despite the lovely tunes, I recall hearing of Lennon's dispicability many moons ago. He was pretty much an all around horrid person to most of the people in his life, including son Julian. Big rift, didn't really get treated as a son like Sean did.
Every single major rock n' roll band from the 60/70's messed around with underage groupies. Just an honest fact. Whyman gets singled out because the 80's mandy smith drama was just so blatant.
Still hoping for the day when Page, Elvis and Chaplin are banished for their repulsive Pedo crimes.
Refreshing that protesters made a difference this time.
