Tom Petty will?
Are we supposed to guess....the cloud system they switched to? The law firm? The lawyer?
Or this is still related to Chris Cornell?
Chris Cornell will.
It seems a bit odd, in this day and age, that a high profile/vip client would ever lose something like this. It's like "everything burned down in the fire" circa 1981
Part of my work duties were scanning information that needed to be referred to periodically then the paper product was destroyed.
Over the course of just 7 years the scanning systems changed 3 times. None are now accessible. No paper records to refer to either now.
So when the will is found, do we, the residents of CDAN, get any allowances?
Either to story is BS or the Atty is incompetent. Stuff being in the cloud means it is backed up six ways to Sunday. No IT guy worth $1 would allow this to happen. Someone is lying.
I dont understand files getting lost by changing cloud systems, and now reemerging...its not like moving physical boxes
Idk if this is Chris Cornell as I think he changed his will soon before his death, so seems doubtful it could be lost so suddenly. I’m going with Chester Bennington. His widow asked for another year to handle his estate.
@Rosie: This does happen. I have a friend who is going through this now. Her parents are still alive but can’t find their will and the attorney is saying he doesn’t have a copy. They own tons of property and have 6 kids so the will is quite complicated. One of the siblings is trying to get them to change the entire will so the whole thing is a disaster.
While I do not do a lot of probate work, one thing I do know is that original wills are not thrown out when scanned. When filing the will with probate court after death, it has to be an original document. The firm would hold onto the original document. If they lost it, that's malpractice and I would sue them.
@Sunkist: Unless they were paid to ‘lose’; then there’s no reason to sue.
Paid to ‘lose it’
Oh wow. Well I don't know why people don't take copies and put them in a safe? Or three? Humans make mistakes. Then other times they suck.
I had to take a community client laundry money yesterday, and I took two pictures and sent them both to the supervisor of that department and my supervisor due to not trusting people with money.
It was $30 in quarters.
Rosie, remember that it just takes a dyslexic and laundry money turns into money laundering.
Angela--lol!😂t
I think on the original blind, there was speculation that this was Chester Bennington, as there were children from different relationships and some other factors. There was also speculation that the lawyer might have been encouraged to lose their copy, but I m not sure if this new blind just makes it a very conveniently sloppy oversight. In any case, it will be so great if the correct will is found.
I hope this is sorted out fast. They only have a short amount of time to make this right. Enty, if they don’t find it until after the specified time is up, is there anything that could be done?
Nipsey hussle
Lucy-- I believe the blind referred to here was before Nipsey was murdered
@Vita: Yes, I remember Chester saying somewhere that it was really important that all of his kids felt like a family and he made certain in his will that they’d all have money (especially to travel & visit each other.) Apparently the ex-wife has a restraining order against Talinda—her son Drevon (sp?) was not allowed to be alone with her without Chester as she was abusive towards him. Meanwhile, Talinda tries to make it look as if they were one big happy family.
@Rosie: I’m with you! I keep track of everything. Have a safe deposit box at the bank and a special drawer at home so I always know where everything is. At this point it’s almost impossible to get your driver’s license renewed without 18 forms of ID. You’d think that your current license and passport would be enough but nope. For some reason my sister needed to get a copy of her birth certificate despite the fact that she had 4 other things on the list. And she’s lived in the same apt. since she was 21. Finally got her license renewed and she got rear-ended by an 86-year-old woman with no insurance while she was stopped at a red light. She’s got an SUV (which was totaled), 2 kids in the car (who were both okay), and she fractured her ankle. So far, $20,000 in medical bills and will have to take the woman to court. Sorry for the run-on, but I think this country is focusing on the wrong things. You need to beg for a driver’s license (and in my family we have all driven since we were 16) but people drive around without insurance and supposedly lawyers ‘lose’ wills? I just can’t.
The original blind was dated April 23, 2019. It’s definitely CC. I researched it online but can’t attach it here. But if you google Lily Cornell Silver will 2004, you’ll see the original will (where he excluded Lily) as well as the blind. VK totally messed this guy up. Forced him to rush his divorce & dis-own his daughter (who is his only ‘real’ daughter IMO.) When Lily hired the lawyer, it was supposedly just to get what she knew she was entitled to. Which I assumed was a major part of his estate. But the latest filing is just for health insurance and college tuition. That’s it 😞. So clearly VK made the new will disappear. Wish I knew who her coke dealer is. I’d pay him to cut it w. Fentanyl. Bitch from hell.
Always keep a HARD COPY!
