In honor of the 50th anniversary of "Midnight Cowboy", I'll say "Everybody's Talkin'" by Nilsson

Or "Into the Fire" from "Goodfellas", again Nilsson

The soundtrack to Sense & Sensibility and Rainbow Connection, The Muppets. I'm totally serious!

Use of a song or original....use-Tiny Dancer/Almost Famous maybe.
Original... hmmm Stay was great from Reality Bites by Entys friend Lisa Loeb.So was Dont Wanna Fall In Love/Pump Up the Volume-Aaron Neville. Tough question

You're so cool from True Romance.

Honey Bunny said...

I will always love you and the whole Bodyguard soundtrack.

The Roxanne mashup from Moulin Rouge
Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds are Forever
The Pink Panther theme
The Star Wars theme

I could go on.

As far as soundtracks go, the 1998 Avengers movie with Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman, and Sean Connery is outstanding. The movie- not so much.

All great suggestions. I LOVED True Romance! Remember Brad all buzzed out on the sofa? LOL

Moon River, from Breakfast At Tiffany, which is also among my favorite movies. Audrey playing the guitar and singing it is particularly and uniquely lovely.

Probably "Uninvited" by Alanis Morrissette. But ask me in an hour and it'd probably be something else.

firestarter said...

Holiday Road by Lindsey Buckingham, Live and Let Die, Don't you forget about me. Blow and Gross Point Blank soundtracks.

Moose said...

Runnerup for me is Urge Overkill's take on Neil Diamond's "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon", which just makes that brilliant Uma Thurman scene in "Pulp Fiction" that much better.

Every time I hear "I Melt With You" I think of that movie, which I love!

Best of All Time: 'The Trio' from the Good, The Bad and the Ugly soundtrack, even better than Ecstasy of Gold or opening credits, you can really feel the tension of the scene...

Then:
'Respect The Wind' by Van Halen from the end of Twister and
'Gentle on my Mind' by Lucinda Williams from the end of Talladega Nights - can't buy as a standalone track on iTunes, would love to.
'Can't help falling in love with you' from the Snapper

I know I'll remember more as soon as I post but that's enough for now...

Spitbite said...

Aaaargh! Caddyshack!

Spitbite said...

Bee Gees! Saturday Night Fever! - bought the dvd just for the opening song with the close up of Tony's feet walking.

Spitbite said...

Yes! Constant Sorrow from O' Brother! I think is the only other soundtrack after Pulp Fiction I ever bought all of and listened to/loved all of.

So, so many to mention. I should give a special shoutout, though, to the faux-80's pop song that was written specifically for "Music & Lyrics", "Pop Goes My Heart". It was SO perfectly done and produced that it really could have been a huge hit in 1985. And Hugh Grant was perfect in the music video for it and in the movie as the washed up pop star. The video is well worth checking out on YouTube because they got everything *so* dead on.
