Joan Crawford?
Bette Davis?
Daisy Le Seur?
Joans first hubby was Doug Fairbanks Jr./actress fight-Bette Davis?
This us a great one, but don't know!
@veee
I am on your side here
there is either two, three or four women and at least one man here....
Susan Hayward and her sister Florence
The sister of an actress had a sister?
So the actress wasn't the sister of her sister's sister?
Is this an SAT question or something?
I agree with Lynn - Susan Hayward.
Olivia De Haviland and Joan Fontaine. Duh!
I am NOT seeing how anybody misunderstands this. Oscar winning actress had a sister who ratted her out to the tabloids on the reg, until Actress started paying her to keep her mouth shut about her previous suicide attempt, bedroom fight with another actress and domestic violence against her first husband.
OKay, the misunderstanding comes from the first sentence.
'The sister of this Oscar winning actress.....had an estranged sister..."
It's like if your sister had a brother, well, you had a brother as well. See?
Joan Fontaine and Olivia de Havilland.
'The sister of this actress...had an estranged sister..." ???
Please. For the love of all that's holy, get a proofreader.
As I was going to St Ives,
Upon the road I met seven wives;
Every wife had seven sacks,
Every sack had seven cats,
Every cat had seven kits:
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were going to St Ives?
Why would Joan Fontaine need any money from Olivia de Haviland? She was just as succesfull, she even won an Oscar before Olivia did.
This is Olivia deHaviland and Joan Fontaine. @Fred84: They HATED each other. It had nothing to do with money.
If they both left the train station
One east and one west at 60mph
Which one would punch their husband while he slept?
I think I just tore my sack.
(Name the film for five points)
Fontaine did look a little snooty.
The wording is very odd and makes it sound like there are three sisters but I think that's just lack of proofreading ENTY needs a paralegal. I'm experienced and I will work for cheap!
I think this is Susan Hayward. She had a sister who was 7 years older, far enough apart in age to not feel close, and to feel slighted by the baby sister. Hayward had a very unhappy first marriage and contentious divorce which led to a suicide attempt.
Joan Fontaine would have no reason to blackmail Olivia de Havilland. Everybody just immediately thinks of them when they hear about Old Hollywood and sisters feuding.
Joan Crawford was supposedly extorted by a brother, not a sister.
As best I can determine, the first sentence is supposed to read:
"The [estranged] sister of this Oscar winning actress from the peak of the studio system days [..] would sell stories and photos every month to a gossip magazine to make her [..] look bad."
Olivia de Haviland and her sister Joan Fontaine
Both Joan and Olivia won oscars, the blind makes it sound like only one did. Olivia is super uptight cant imagine her having a female relationship
The "bedroom fight" in the blind was between Hayward and Jil Jarmyn. Jarmyn walked in on Hayward and actor Red Barry. If you've never read a description of the fight, it's pretty amusing. ("What's this two-bit whore doing here?")
This is Susan Hayward. Olivia de Havilland and Joan Fontaine don't fit this one.
