Blind Item #4 - Reader Blind - Kindness
Cliff told me a story about a film he was an extra on one time. It was the low budget debut of this Oscar winning/Oscar nominated duo who would go on to have much success.
The lead actor in the film ,who is still active, is someone who has been called an “actor’s actor” . Not a huge star but a professional who is generally well thought of by his peers and whose presence two well known deceased critics who worked together observed automatically raised the level of a film.
This is one of his few if not his only leading roles as he is the definition of a character actor and has been in scores and scores of films. The film he was most praised for prior to this featured him in a villainous supporting role with this permanent A+ Oscar winning/Oscar nominated actor who recently had #metoo problems.
Cliff had approached the actor on behalf of some of the other extras for advice and the actor had been more than helpful giving him much useful information about starting an acting career. When the actor discovered that the other extras had put Cliff up to this, he summoned them all to a room on set in between shooting and spent time answering all their questions. He gave out his personal phone number as well. He did not want anything for this and was not trying to pick up anyone. He is just a very generous down to Earth guy.

Steve Buschemi?
Fargo with the Cohen Bros. Boardwalk Empire for Tv
Reservoir Dogs other film?
Roger /Ebert critics
Blood simple and the Coen brothers
If it's Buscemi, who's the A+ actor w/ MeToo problems?
Dan Hedaya in Blood simple?
Or Blood Simple but Jeremy Irina was the lead
Irons
I thought of the Coen brothers but no one from Blood Simple fits.
MD has it I think. Hedaya was in True Confessions (great movie) with DeNiro prior to Blood Simple
Was he in a villainous role there, E?
I'm trying to remember, but since almost everyone in the film was villainous, I'll have to guess yes. I remember seeing him in it but that's it
Did any other A+ actors besides De Niro have MeToo issues this past month or so? If so (or not), we could narrow it down. Franco probably doesn't count.
I was wondering if perhaps Buscemi/Hedaya worked with Goldblum, since True Confessions doesn't really seem to fit. And Goldblum has had even more high-profile MeToo problems than De Niro on Twitter. But he's not an Oscar winning actor.
The only other option from Blood Simple isM. Emmett Walsh, who is definitely a fine character actor. But his prior filmography doesn't match
I honestly have no clue. But, props!
John Getz was so good in Blood Simple
And was Geena Davis’ sleazy ex in
The Fly with
Jeff Goldblum
Goldblum is not permanent At and no Oscar win
This is M. Emmet Walsh in Blood Simple.
Ebert and Siskel had a famous Stanton-Walsh-Rule that a movie can't fully be bad if either Walsh or Harry Dean Stanton were in it.
The alluded to prior film is Straight Time where Walsh starred alongside Dustin Hoffman.
John Getz.
Lead in Coen Bros BLOOD SIMPLE
Was previously the antagonist in THE FLY.
And yes Jeff Goldblum IS a surprise Oscar nominee -- he was nominated for the Live Action Short category in 1996 for a shirt film he made.
Quibble with the rating, but it *is* a,reader blind
Nice @Melvin! I think you're right.
I thought Hedaya was known for being a prick.
The Fly came out two years after Blood Simple and Jeff Goldblum didn't have any #metoo troubles.
Sollozzo, you're. Got my timeliens fuzzy. Walsh ot is, then.
You're right*
Matt Damon
M Emmett Walsh based on the Roger ebert comment. Possible villainous role would be in blade runner.
I'm thinking M Emmett Walsh.
I think Sollazo got it.
Anthony Hopkins.
M. Emmet Walsh. One of my favorite actors. Loved him in "Cannery Row."
