Blind Item #6 - Reader Blind
Divorce papers from the split a few years back of this iconic in sound and look/attire foreign born singer and his much younger wife who dated another family member first show the level of control he exerted. Weekly, she was given memorandums on hair length and clothing and food intake. Her clothes were assigned to her by date. She was also given a schedule for what to do in her free time and even had to attend weigh ins to make sure she did not exceed a certain weight.
This singer has long had a reputation for being a control freak. Another musician who is known for his collaborative songwriting in a critically acclaimed reunited group that should be more famous worked with the singer for awhile and in his autobiography wrote that ,among other examples of the singer’s personality, in his office that handles his business concerns, all the pencils had to be sharpened to the exact same length.
This singer was originally part of a band a number of decades ago that had a few hits but their biggest claim to fame was being years ahead of their time in their sound and look, a huge influence on the next decade’s music. This band was recently honored in a public event. On his own, the singer also had a couple hits but has sometimes taken a long time between releases due to his perfectionist tendencies in the studio. In his romantic life, he has been linked with royalty in his home country and was in a very publicized relationship with another famous person who left him for an even more famous singer.

Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music/Jerry Hall/Mick Jagger
ReplyDeleteInducted into RnR Hallmof fame . WAY overdue.
DeleteHe is my dream
Man. That is all ❤️
Phil Manzanera for reunited musician? I never heard Bryan was a control freak- but he is a massive talent and most are
DeleteThe dream may be better than the reality
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Bryan ferry. He married a girl who was dating one of his sons. Still looks good too.
ReplyDeleteOmg. Literally have seen since I was 15 -first time Radio City Music Hall. Everyone was in the 30s lol. I bet my mom
DeleteHe’s come out in a black suit ,White shirt ,red tie. (he did). Last time was at the Hard Rock Seminole and he looked older, but even better somehow. Just an absolutely beautiful, classy guy
It’s the hair for me Tricia! Just one of those men that is mesmerizing at any age.
DeleteYes girl, yes. The hair, eyes, flair... voice. Any Englishmen singing Bossa nova is 👌 in my book. Listen to “windswept “(off Boys and Girls I think).

DeleteJerry Hall was never married to Bryan Ferry
ReplyDeleteNo- that’s why the blind says “was in a very publicized relationship with...”
Delete@Tricia13, you wouldn't take that sh!t from him and you know it! I remember thinking Jerry Hall lost her mind when she left him for Mick. She started up with him at 17,I believe. He also dated Ava Cherry when she was like 16,pre her Bowie days. I also would like to know the book that was referred to.
ReplyDeleteQuite right,I wouldn’t or couldn’t. But the idea of him still ... (his standards album was amazing as well). That said-Brian Eno releases an auto biography called “on a Faraway Beach”.. May be him
Delete(Or Phil M).
Lucy Birley was the divorce I think..she died a year or so ago
Damn not Bryan . The ultimate in good taste and class . Le sigh always the handsome ones that mess it up for themselves and moi.😕
ReplyDeleteI think the controlled wife was the recent one,Amanda, because she dated one of the sons.I think Lucy was mother to all his children?

ReplyDeleteSqueeze, Chris Difford for the other musician, worked as his lyricist

DeleteSo this is another Daily Mail "blind"?
ReplyDeletebryan ferry / jerry hall / mick jagger
ReplyDeleteThis is Bryan Ferry. I've heard he is highly attentive to detail (i.e. control freak) which is why I expect his much younger wife left him. She dated one of his sons first and then dated Bryan for a few years. She was with him for a quite a while before they married. Once married, she left him within a couple years.
ReplyDeleteHe also dated Jerry Hall in the 70s who left him for Mick Jagger.
Bryan Ferry's wife of 20 years, Lucy, killed herself a couple of years ago.
ReplyDeleteIn Jerry Hall's book, she said that in Texas, a cockroach crawled up a wall in her house. She said Ferry would have freaked, but Mick just laughed...
I don't think there is anything cool or classy about Bryan Ferry.
ReplyDeleteIt's all an act. He came up in the Glam pre-punk era in London with Bowie, and in the mid 70's came up with a new image, as a cool crooner. He's a working class kid who used Lucy and her upper class upbringing to learn how an upper class gentleman is supposed to ACT. It's an act. His attitude towards women is Neanderthal.
So you’ve seen him in concert ,and met him and all?
DeleteWell aware of his coal mining dad.
DeleteMakes it more remarkable that he distinguished himself, the way he did. His voice is silk and his taste impeccable.
Was there a question there?
I saw him in concert. they were great.
ReplyDeleteI remember reading Ferry was bi-polar. It might account for his control freak attitude.
ReplyDeleteHis wife Lucy was in and out of rehab for alcohol abuse during their marriage.
IMO< He thinks of women as a trophy, they are objects that reflect on him.
Unknown-- is hysterical, his comments are so full of vitriol and way out of proportion to any possible offense. Talk about a lack of perspective. I imagine he stomps his little fat foot when he doesn't get his way.
ReplyDeleteHe left abruptly, his Mum probably called him up from the basement for dinner.
I saw Bryan and Roxy twice in the seventies. One of the few virtues of being old.
ReplyDeleteMe too rednoir. The Hammersmith Odeon in the late 70s. 1979 I think.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that I was unaware of his foibles. I would not have lasted 12hrs under that kind attempt to control.
My ADORED Bryan Ferry ..
ReplyDeleteI went to his concert as a teen in Argentina ... he was PURE PERFECTION and a then friend of mine told me he didnt like to be touched by fans at the backstage
Now I have a mix of Avalon and If I Didn't Love You (I'd Hate You) in my head.
ReplyDeleteStudio 54, how can you say Bryan Ferry isn't classy, if you haven't seen him IN CONCERT! IN CONCERT! Where every movement is calculated, every bit of phrasing is rehearsed for hours...
ReplyDeleteBryan Ferry is clearly a working-class boy who made good. That's it. But that is the height, isn't it? Why try to make him out to be what he is not? It just detracts from his achievements.
He married his son's girlfriend, which is not "classy," but a character flaw.
"Classy" is a tacky term, usually used by people who don't understand what class is, and who usually associate class with nice clothing.
Any guy who controls his wife to that degree isn't classy in anyone's book, no matter where he buys his suits
