Blind Item #8 - Reader Blind

Celebrity #1 is someone everyone knows. He was the flamboyant foreign born permanent A+ lead singer of a permanent A+ list band.  He was the subject of a biopic not too long ago.

Celebrity #2 was not famous at the time they hooked up but later became well-known for playing a specific character first in TV commercials then the same character in movies and a TV show.   He was also known for playing a well-known TV character originated by someone else in a movie reboot.  He had two short marriages but was bi-sexual.

They met at a club in Los Angeles and had a one night stand.  Years later, when he was sick, Celebrity #2 told some friends about it.  He had the same condition that killed Celebrity #1 but this is not what actually killed Celebrity #2 nor does he think he got it from Celebrity #1 as their hook-up was much earlier.

  2. It is Jim Varney- he fits all the clues. Ernest was in commercials first, then a movie and TV show. He then played the Buddy Ebsen character on the Beverly Hillbillies.

    Freddie Mercury for #1

  5. Wow learned something new today about Jim Varney. Didn’t know he had AIDS AND hooked up with Freddy M. Can’t wait to bust out this info during our yearly viewing of “Ernest Saves Christmas”

  16. Wow, this is so weird. Freddie Mercury and Ernest??

It's a bit easier to picture after looking at Varney's photo on Wikipedia though, where he looks like a real person (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Varney).

Jim Varney was a beautiful man, once you disassociate him from the Ernest character. Also the type of guy who was probably magnificent as a young hungry actor in L.A.. Probably also given his body type and structure packing big time.

  20. David Naughton is an interesting guess, except he is still alive.

  21. David Naughton has also been married three times.

  22. Summary: Two back-in-the-day queens banged in a club restroom. If you don't remember personal computers being a new thing then you'd have no idea who either was except for a recent biopic movie that old people wouldn't shut up about.

    The End

  23. MissDavie- I agree w/u 100%, I first noticed Jim Varney on a show called, Alice (remember, Kiss my Grits ?) from the 70's,he was on 1 episode playing a studly cowboy named, Milo Skinner. Later, I noticed he became Earnest, so yes, he certainly was a magnificent looking young man !

  25. @TeeHee, Yeah these guys are pretty much meaningless to younger Millenials and older Gen Z folks.
I mean honestly, most Gen Xers probably wouldn't even know Queen if it wasn't for Wayne's World and oldies rock radio stations.

  26. wow, Jim Varney. Remember reading an interview with him long ago where he declared "I'm part Welsh and part Cherokee, so of course I'm doomed." This was regarding his alcohol consumption.

  29. @Carolyn and MissDavie... agreed. FM was diagnosed in 1986, if this is JV and he said it happened much earlier it probably was late 70's early 80's.. JV was born in 1949 so he would have been 30ish... if you look at the pic on the book about him it's probably taken around that time.. I could totally see FM going for him.. google The Importance of Being Ernest: The Life of Actor Jim Varney (Stuff that Vern doesn't even know)

  30. First of all, Jim Varney! What a strange combo.

Second, I'm Gen X, come on now, NOT knowing who Queen was? LOL! Hello! We lived thru a huge portion of Queen being Queen. I watched Live Aid, I saw how they stole the show. "Under Pressure" was one of my fave songs with Bowie and I LOVED "A Night at The Opera". I remember all the hits way before "Another One Bites the Dust".

I CLEARLY remember when Freddie died. I was devastated. He didn't disclose his condition until the very day he died.
