Your Turn

Your favorite holiday television special. My vote is for Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town which automatically makes the top 15 tomorrow. What are your favorites? If you list five or six, the first one you list is the one I use as your vote.

A Charlie Brown Christmas.

It's a very wholesome movie. A true all-time classic. I have the soundtrack at home too.

Mickey Once Upon a Christmas, The Christmas Story and Charlie Brown. The Christmas Story is so special to me and we just watched it as we decorated the tree.

A Wish for Wings. It's not Christmas without a showing of this classic. Who can enjoy the holidays without a crossdressing cockroach and a pig who wants to be a hippopotamus.

I HATE to do anything to promote Star Wars, but the CHRISTMAS SPECIAL about the WOOKIES is awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=6hH8rxarVG8&feature=emb_logo

Though Lucas is uncredited, it was his idea to build the narrative around Chewbacca's family.[4] CBS hired experienced variety show writers and producers,[4] including writer Bruce Vilanch, who was concerned about the decision to center the special on a species who grunt in a fictional language without subtitles. Regardless, Lucas would not budge on his vision.[13] The special went through two directors. The first, David Acomba, was brought in through an attempt to "make us different in variety shows", according to Lippincott. Acomba, a classmate of George Lucas at USC film school, was unfamiliar with a multiple-camera setup, which caused some problems. Acomba also felt that there was a divide between himself and the producers, and chose to leave the project after finishing only a few scenes, including the cantina and Jefferson Starship. He was replaced by Steve Binder, whose only contact with Lucasfilm was a "Wookiee bible" detailing how the species should look and behave.[13] Stan Winston was hired to design the Wookiee family.[15]

The special was broadcast in its entirety in the United States only once, on Friday, November 17, 1978 (the week before Thanksgiving), on the television network CBS from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Eastern Standard Time (EST), pre-empting Wonder Woman and The Incredible Hulk. It was also broadcast on the Canadian television network CTV from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Eastern Standard Time,[2] in New Zealand on TVNZ, and in Australia on the Seven Network.[citation needed]

Charlie Brown Christmas

Though I remember loving the anticipation for my annual musical fix of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" and "Heat Miser/Cold Miser"...long before Christmas radio and these shows available to play on VCR or cable channel marathons, it really was a once a year treat!

Every single one of the ones I watched growing up in the 60’s. They all bring the magic of Christmas home for me. ❤️ Charlie Brown, Grinch, Frosty, Rudolph, etc. Sitting around the TV, all of us as a family, and watching them was such a treat. I miss those days of innocence. Now Christmas is so commercialized. ☹️
