The thing is that Enty noticed around early 2017 that his most avid readers (and probably most generous patrons) were hardcore Trump supporters who also eat the QAnon shit and ask for more.
This particular crowd is particularly obsessed about the threat of Hollywood putting its weight on the political debate (as if what Barbra Streisand or Sean Penn think had any impact on votes). People such as Steven Spielberg or Tom Hanks may be moderates compared to many outspoken democrats, but they're quite famous and popular figures, and their voice is supposed to matter when they make a statement.
If even these people turned out to be involved in terrible crimes, that would be much more shocking than the nice guy from the Cosby Show being actually a rapist. It would mean that the place is rotten to the core, and, so, that nobody should listen to any word said by an actor, or anybody from the entertainment industry.
That's why Spielberg is one of the two or three white whales for Enty's "target audience", aka the "amount of people" you mention. Connecting him with a huge scandal or a crime (true or false, it's never mattered) doesn't just hurt his public image, as Spielberg has had a hand (as a director or a producer) in a ton of beloved films and classics from the seventies till today. It would be a huge blow to the reputation of the entire film industry, and that's exactly what these people want, and what Enty delivers to make them happy.

Oprah is indeed a major target, as you have idiots here who consider she's responsible for Obama being elected in 2008 due to her influence in the African-American community.
