I'm resourceful I find everything I need eventually, all the varied paper products are back in limited supply in the stores I shop and I have plenty of time to go to all of them. Most meat is there, canned food is there, cleaning products are there.
If you are in the states, try places like Tractor Supply Company, Dollar Tree, & drug stores. Walmart has tp but you have to be there when they open. They do check your cart to enforce the 1 package per person rule.
I’m so sorry. Some businesses that had to close have been selling toilet paper. You can try Preparation H wipes. Bidets are still available. Not just from Amazon either. Online stores that cater to Muslims sell bidets.
If you have notebook paper you can use that but you have to ball it up, rub it against the edge of a table & repeat several times to make it soft. Worst case scenario is old clothes. I grew up poor & I’ve had to do that.
Thanks @ TW. Between the TP that I can find & Kleenex, I’m okay; it’s just annoying to have to constantly be searching for it because I’m trying to stay home! (Although now may be a good time to get rid of all of my journals so nobody can ever read them😉.) Sorry to hear about your childhood. Sounds as though you’ve had a difficult life.
The only thing that I've found tricky to find is cleaning supplies and I'm just about to start spring cleaning and will have to get a little creative. Otherwise, I'm good.
Things seem to have calmed down here in England, can buy most things. Hope all those people who panic bought, are enjoying their pasta with tinned tomatoes, while sitting on their loo roll stockpile !
Yeast. I really want to make cinnamon buns and bread. On Good Friday, my grocery store was wiped out. No milk or produce. It was depressing. But it's been pretty normal the past three weeks actually. Hope all of you are well.
soft soap and dish soap. I order online for pickup or delivery and these have been unavailable everywhere. Maybe, if I actually went into a store I could find them.
I bought stuff in bulk before the crisis hit. But I want Seagram’s brand ginger ale. It was hard to find in my hometown before the crisis. I make do with Schweppes.
@Unknown - Portion the meat out into freezer bags. I would double the freezer bags though. If you have regular Ziploc bags you can still use them but you definitely need to double the bags.
Only product I haven't been able to source.. like anywhere is a gallon of bleach.. I still have a bit.. but it's odd to see that whole isle wiped out, for weeks now!
I can't believe I never had to stock up on toilet paper. I had done a Costco run the day before the freak out began and bought two of the giand million roll packs. I still have enough for a month. Which is amazing because I go through it like toilet paper
@Aquagirl someone who has a membership and shops at Costco or Sam's Club should be able to buy you toilet paper. Costco is carrying Charmin again and Sam's has Members Mark TP back as well.
Amazon has one pound packages of SAF Instant Yeast. I lucked out and had purchased both the instant and gold yeast packs right before this all hit. Sadly it's selling for three times what I paid but at least it's available https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001CXUHW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
A heartfelt shout out, cyber hug and "thank you" to all the grocery workers during this crisis. They are front line workers, delivering essential services, diligently stocking the shelves of vital supplies as soon as they get them.
Over 30 grocery store workers have DIED of COVID-19 in the line of just doing their important job. God bless them all!
Talk about good timing- Jenny Jones (yes THAT Jenny Jones) does a Youtube cooking show. She's hysterical and her recipes actually turn out. I like to watch her because she's funny. She just sent out her newsletter with a link to a no yeast bread recipe that should be easy and tasty.
We've got pretty much everything we want/need. I notice they're regularly out of some things at the store, but I'm not looking for yeast and flour anyway.
I've had no problems at finding everything and haven't had to queue either. I'm only buying extra due to being laid off, so I only eat at home. I miss take aways, but have to be careful with money cause I don't know when I get to work again.
Going to the grocery store is one of the most high risk places in this pandemic. Why? Because all the supposed to be "stay at home" people actually go from store to store, spreading who knows what to all kinds of people. They aren't supposed to be doing that. It's get your essentials and get out. They have never done that. They had to enforce a limit on how many people could be in the store at once. Even then social distancing is very hard.
Worse, in my area, there is a designated time when Seniors and other at risk people are supposed to be able to shop alone and get what they need without the risk of being around so many people. But no, they don't get there own time, the stay at homes go at THEIR time to get THEIR things when they are in stock.
By the time essential workers get out of their shifts, everything has been rifled through and taken. But grocery stores have noted this and leave things to be put out later when the essential workers go to the store.
Eggs, paper towels, cleaning wipes. I stocked up toilet paper well before the stay at home orders so I won't need any for some time. I could find the other items I guess if I got to the stores earlier, but I am still working so I have to go later in the day. Very grateful I still have a job so no complaints from me.
@Ann I hope you see this. A friend just reached out to tell me they have those masks and other items you mentioned to ship. They are in the south. I can forward you info if you need!
Hey Ann. This is the site. It has a bunch of merchandise ,etc. Mame your request through the email Provided on site (I think is best)! Hope it works out!! http://bowandaro.com/
Eden Soy Milk. Either they Extra or Organic, I don't care. I put it in my tea. I've drank it for THIRTY YEARS. It's disgusting on it's own. NOBODY will ever use it as milk but they're buying it to use as "milk" for emergencies and they're in for a BIG surprise when they taste it. I'm pissed. I'm a loyal customer. I buy a box of 12 at a time every two weeks and now there's nada on the shelves.
I don't get the toilet paper. There are two people in our house. We use ONE ROLL a week! How much do you people use??
Well, I normally cannot get good taco seasoning, or guac, because the Belgian stores only sell whichever version appeals to them. So the taco seasoning and guac are BAD! (Imagine cooked guac. Yeah, once was enough!) And the one store that sold Rosarita's tortilla chips stopped selling them because there wasn't enough demand for them. No Miracle Whip, no Skor's, etc. These items are not available at any time however, not just because of the virus. I've been making do here at home, and we have enough of everything else. I mostly cook from scratch anyway.
