Tom Cruise Not First On The Speed Dial Anymore

This article from Slate is really long and really good and basically summarizes how Tom Cruise is not the first or second or even fifth choice for film projects anymore and how Katie severely damaged her career with her actions during promotional appearances for Batman Begins. The article briefly mentions Scientology, but it is not a focus of the article. Like I said, the article is long but it will give you something to read over the weekend. If you are really bored this afternoon you can watch the two segments from David Letterman that allegedly caused Katie's career spiral.

Thanks to Mistik for finding the article and sending it my way.

    She also seems to be really drunk.

    I think it's a necessary condition/state of mind if you're planning to be Mrs. Tom Cruise....

    I think she's a bit of a moron. She doesn't seem to have much going on upstairs.

    Funny how she didn't answer Dave's question of HOW she met Tom....

    And I doubt it took much to brainwash her either, judging by that performance!

    Why is everything she has experienced "amazing" and "like really amazing"? And he's her man after just 6 weeks? It's creepy and weird. And call me crazy but she seems to even have some of his mannerisms. The smile, the head tilt, the "trying too hard to appear interested yet casual" and the forced smile. It's a terrible interview too. She's a total ditz and can't tell a story.

    I stood in for Katie on the film, "First Daughter". She was REALLY shy and reserved. Needless to say, I'm not surprised Tom was able to take advantage of her.

    Anyone know the progress of Andrew Morton's book about Cruise??

  9. Someone asked me that question before. The ISBN number has been assigned forever, and in some interviews Morton says he is done and in others he says it will be awhile longer. I am guessing it is harder than he thought it would be.

    I am DYING to read that book.

    And I wish the Slate article would actually mean Cruise might go away for good, but that's more of a fantasy than Xenu.

    (BTW, how GAY does L.Ron Hubbard look in the picture of him they always show in that ASCOT!?! Bwahahahaahaha!)

    1.01 you're so right! i actually thought, wow, they actually look alike until i realized, no, she's just managed to morph into him after 6 weeks. completely normal and healthy.

    i hate that baby voice she does...

    I'm glad that she's out of the new Batman series. She didn't look the part (a prosecutor of all things) and she didn't do anything important. Hopefully they will pick a much better actress for the next one and actually give her something to do besides stand helplessly on the sidelines.

    Does anyone else think that she is really high on something (and I don't think it's Scientology), or is that just me?

    I think that Dave was incredibly inappropriate in asking her certain questions.

    "Are you taller than he is?"

    "Is he crazy?"

    He was rude and invasive. I think that if you were expecting to come in and talk about your movie and you got hit with this inane questioning, you'd be caught off-guard.

    She does seem a little slow though.

    I can recall seeing Katie... (is anyone else annoyed that Tom felt the need to rename her? to Kate? He did the same thing to Nicole. He renamed her Nic. Sorry... I digress...)

    Anywho... I can recall where she was funny and well spoken in older interviews from those Dawson Creek days. I never thought she was dense. Unlike now.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I have to agree with the "amazing" comment.
    That is her key word anytime she speaks. "Its amazing"...
    Katie how's the baby?
    "It's amazing"
    Katie how's the shoe sale at Barney's?
    "It's amazing"
    Katie is your hair on fire?
    "It's amazing"
    I never doubted that she fully accepted to enter the crazy world of Cruise. Maybe she really wanted to be the wife of a crazy man... cause... "It's amazing".
    I just watched that and she seems "medicated" and awfully dumb.
    I agree with the person who pointed out how she just froze when asked how they met....How could they not have worked out an answer to that question--they had to know it would be asked.
    Could you imagine attempting to have a conversation with her? lol
    One of the things I find really interesting and yet somehow sad is the way Katie has been completely transformed from a lighthearted, free-spirited young woman with a slightly bohemian way of dressing, into a much-older in appearance, fusty, Hollywood Duchess. Compare Katie from this interview with Dave, and then compare her to the picture in the Slate article, as well as other recent tabloid pics. It's weird.
