Today's Blind Items

So a little help with yesterday's item may be in order. How about recently filmed, but not out yet. How about our A list actor was not alone. How about he was joined by another brooding A list actor who happens to be married. No word on whether the married actor partook of the drugs but certainly did partake in the strip club fun.

Thanks, ENT. I'm still stumped, but the extra clues are much appreciated.

Okay with that clue I think it's Colin Farrell. He just wrapped a movie with Ewan MacGregor called Cassandra's Dream directed by Woody Allen. It's supposed to be depressing a la Match Point. It was also filmed in Brighton, East Sussex England that on has one licensed strip tease venue aptly named the Pussycats. Check these links:

Good try tracee but Brighton is a resort town with many clubs from strip to tranyy and all in between. Not remote, a big seaside destination for Uk.

It does say it has lots of clubs, but most cater to gays. But it only specifies one striptease venue. I looked at several sites and it only talks about one heterostrip joint, I did my research. I'm still sold on Colin.

Partying with strippers- where's the scandal?

Two days in a row - I feel gyped.

Appreciate any research done tracking down guesses but truly as a Briton, I have to agree with lc. Brighton is a BIG wellknown stag & hen resort w/ lots of pubs, clubs & "gentleman's" as well as gay clubs. There was a big stink not very long ago in papers about limiting the number of strip clubs, not sure why US sites only list one.

I think Tracee nailed this one. I thought it was for sure someone else, but with more clues it seems that this is the right person/people. Good job!

Vince Vaughn while filming Into the Wild. Married actor (director) was Sean Penn.

Colin's admitted he's used coke before so why would this be shocking? Don't think it's him.

    Ben Affleck

He looks guilty as of late ;)

I'm sorry, but I do not beleive that Colin Farrel could ever be referred to as "very A List"

    ReplyDelete
  18. Anonymous1:50 PM

1:41 Not shocking & I don't think it's him either as Brighton UK with over 400 clubs hardly fits the clues of "middle of nowhere" & "the strip club was the only entertainment in town". Margaret's guess is great for Vaughn & Penn as IMDB says it's filmed in Alaska as well as about twenty other spots that fit the clues.

  19. Anonymous1:54 PM

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are BOTH married. Can't be them...

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anonymous1:55 PM

Is Vince "very A-list?" Could possibly be...I'm not familiar with the story...is this the guy who gets killed by the bear?

I could see him finding a spot in a strip club in Alaska.

And Ben Affleck's last movie on the board was Smoking Aces. Is Vaughn very Alist, or is Very the clue ur going off of? Mary Mac who is VERY A list that fits?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anonymous2:01 PM

Vaughn isn't very A-list, he can barely open a movie by himself. He usually supporting cast.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous2:05 PM

Found this on the boards. From Ent himself I believe.

A List Stars--- Shine brightly, consistently, and even folks that live in the middle of nowhere have heard of them. They can carry a film on their name and earn maga-bucks.My ideas would be Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts, and George Clooney. You probably won't see these stars getting trashed at the local nightclub in your tabloids.

B List Stars--- Again consistent, usually working, star maybe in the ascendant/descendant; recognizable but maybe not as big as an A lister. Maybe TV rather than film? Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz, Selma Blair, etc etc

C List Stars--- May have once been A/B; Can put in excellent performances, but lack the consistency; either due to performance or poor choice of project. May court tabloid coverage, may need to put some clothes on!!! Matthew McConaughey, Denise Richards, Pam Anderson, need I go on?

D List *cough* "stars" (using finger indications!!)--- Probably famous for being famous, will do anything to get publicity (other than what their job title is e.g. Act, Sing, etc). Usually look like they could do with a good wash, and use cheap publicity stunts (yes, like "forgetting" to put their underwear on - I don't feel the need to name names here; other than to say that anyone from a reality TV show or some other cheap 15 minute of fame show is probably going to fall into this category too!

    Brighton? Ridiculous!

Alaska and Vaughan/Penn sounds more like it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anonymous2:22 PM

I thought the Into the Wild was filmed in the desert of California...Borrego Springs National Park...

I still don't see Vaughn as "very a-list at all." Very A-list has to be a major major megawatt star such as Tom Cruise, Ben Afflek, George Clooney and the like...

    I'm completely stumped.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous2:23 PM

Oooo actors, strippers, and coke. BIG SHOCKER!! lol Give us something good Enty!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous2:24 PM

Vaughn is considered A-List - you figure. Into the Wild was filmed in South Dakota or Montana - don't remember which last June and July. A few scenes were filmed in San Francisco. I know it's not a comedy, because Sean Penn directed it. I remember reading when it was being filmed that there was a bar in the little town nearby where the guys hung out. I sure would not put it past Vince.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anonymous2:30 PM

Vaughan is considered A list by industry watchers - check out David Poland's Hot Button site.

Farrell is not A list, nor is Ewan M.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anonymous2:31 PM

IMDB lists so many remote & wilderness locations for the aptly titled "Into the Wild". Certainly not a cheery book, I doubt the movie changes the story. Vince Vaughn is considered A List (for now.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anonymous2:36 PM

We're in business here. Janice Minn knows everything. In a Us Weekly story (remember the engagement) it was reported that Vince Vaughn left for South Dakota to film Into The wild right after proposing. The same story called Jennifer and him an A-list couple. Us Weekly never, ever lies. Right! Shame on you, Vince.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anonymous2:50 PM

    tracee, i am with you...

    big name actor - vince
    married, brooding actor - sean
    remote location - alaska
guy starves to death alone in a trailer - that's pretty depressing

we may quibble on what a-list is to whom but when every other clue fits... as i mentioned in an earlier post, drugs and strippers = sean penn. all the other details just seal the deal.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anonymous2:57 PM

romc - tracee was the one who guessed Brighton UK/Colin Farrell. I agree with margaret's guess of Into the Wild for the reasons listed. Chalk one up for margaret!

  33. Anonymous3:20 PM

If this double posts, forgive me, I'm having problems posting. I hope to Hell that I am wrong and it is not Vince. I am a huge fan of Jennifer Aniston and a Jen/Vince fan and this would have occurred when he was seeing her.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anonymous3:41 PM

    Vaugh isn't "very A list".

He cannot open a film on his star power alone.

A List actors(not guesses, just examples):

Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Will Smith, Brad Pitt, Al Pacino, Sean Penn, Robert DeNiro, George Clooney, Jack Nicholson, Russell Crowe, Johnny Depp, Denzel Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jim Carrey, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Nicolas Cage . . . I know I've left guys out

Feel free to add to it. A list means headliners. You will pay to see them, even in a half assed movie.

Now reduce it to the "VERY A list" set. These guys hit so many home runs they can demand points.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous3:47 PM

To Anonymous 3:41 PM - All I know is that stuff you read about Vaughn calls him A-list - TMZ, Gawker, Jossip, Defamer, Best Week Ever, People, Us, Star, L&S, IT, Radar - they all call him A-list, but I hope you're right and it's not. A-list may be just a reception. I like Vince and as I said, I have the upmost respect for Jennifer Aniston, who was with him at the time he was filming this. Hope I'm sooooooooo wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous3:58 PM

lc - you are correct! sorry, i agree with margaret.

and again, to me, vince is arguably a list, but when the point is indeed arguable and every other aspect of the blind fits perfectly... i go with it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anonymous4:09 PM

uh, margaret... sorry but you're wrong.

he headlined wedding crashers, was the lead in dodgeball..must i go on..and quit being snobs about what "A-List" means, you're nerds.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous4:12 PM

sorry to take the piss out of you margaret, i meant that for the poster before you...forgive me

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anonymous4:12 PM

To me & many A List is bankable & I agree w/ 2:30 that Vaughn is considered one on past performance and certainly the gossip helps name recognition. Whether one would see a movie w/ him based on that alone is up for grabs but he gets the salary & the scripts, so I'll go w/ Margaret's guess as fitting the clues.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Anonymous4:15 PM

Yes this site is not consistent with A List or other definitons; I remember a blind that was revealed with an A List model being ???Serinda Swan. Totally left field.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous4:17 PM

Vince is a-list. Maybe many don't think he deserves it, but he has carried a lot of successful movies now. Middle USA knows his name, and knows he was in the Wedding Crashers.

Jeez folks. He's in the same range as Katie Holmes, Owen Wilson, Kate Winslet, Ben Stiller and Jude Law. All A-List, though not always in hits.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anonymous4:33 PM

I am sorry to stick my nose in the middle of this but, ^ Katie Holmes is in no way, shape or form an a list actress. No way. If this is how you guys are classifying "a-list", then we won't ever solve anything. Ent. has made it clear that being in the tabs a lot doesn't make you an a-list actress. Newsflash- neither does being married to an a list actor.
As for Vince, if people are arguing this much about whether he is a list then it probably isn't about him since it's worded VERY a-list.

  43. Anonymous4:49 PM

ENT - how come we haven't heard BOO about Nicole's court date and not a single shot of her anywhere in weeks. Clearly, she has some brain cells (as compared to the Parasite) and is maintaining a LOW-PRO. But I am really curious what happened with her case. I know she had a court date last week. I don't know where else to post this, but do you have any info.?

You know that the term A List started with party invites in Hollywood? It's still in play socially & it's based on lots of things including power base, your partner, current press, etc not just box office. I'm not sure if EL started this categorising actors w/ ABCD but it doesn't really cover and doesn't fit when it comes to PR perception. Top ten grossers, highest paid, best production deal, most sexy or whatever would be better for blinds.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous5:47 PM

^No, EL didn't start it. People have been doing it for awhile. It is based on salary per movie, ability to draw viewers and popularity. It is confusing and, you're right, other ways would be easier. Actors/Actresses may be A-list somewhere else but, not on the screen. It's all a pain in the a$$ to decipher but, I do believe the answer to this BI is an A-lister we all KNOW is an A-lister.

    "psst said
You know that the term A List started with party invites in Hollywood?"
Psst your wrong. the A-list got started in new york at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. The astor family threw the most exclusive parties in the city and thier ballroom at thier amnson only held something like 130 or 200 people, mrs. astor only invited the cream of the social crop to her parties and the new york papers started calling the small list of people mrs. astor invited to her ballroom the A-list. A-list quickly quickly became synonomous with being the richest of the rich, and most famous of the famous, ect. ect.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anonymous9:26 PM

i know this is random but there was a BI awhile ago about a young girl who is on a tv show- she's having a shocking affair with the man who plays her father. I dont watch heroes but is this Hayden Panatierre and is she having an affair with Nathalie Maines' husband? I often see them pictured together. In todays NY post he was grabbing her waist with both hands as she laughed hysterically. What do you guys think?

I think Tracee(the second poster) got it right. Colin and Ewan it is.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous4:48 AM

5:56 Wrong on your correction of AList. Not sure which Hollywood mogul of old came up with ALIST for parties but I do know that Mrs. Astor came up with NY "Four Hundred" which in many ways is still around for NY society.

I'm confused. Into the Wild doesn't star Sean Penn, but he did write the screen play and is a producer. The BI says the actor was with another actor who is married. Which makes me think the other actor is IN the movie. Do producers or screenwriters go to the set?

Sean Penn is the director & oscar winning brooding actor otherwise. There are so many wee little towns & outright wilderness areas listed in IMDB for that shoot, so research away if in doubt or so inclined.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anonymous3:12 PM

How about Gary Oldman as the unmarried actor, and Heath Ledger or Christian Bale for the other married A-lister? The film would be Dark Knight (maybe not depressing so much as just plain "dark"). The problem is the currently listed filming locales seem to be big cities, e.g. Chicago, LA, etc.

Sorry it's not better! I saw blow, so I thought Heath!
