Denise Richards' New Home

I think everyone has heard that Denise Richards is moving to a new home. This is what it looks like. The other interesting thing is that it is literally four or five houses down the street from where she lives now. Maybe she thinks Charlie Sheen won't be able to find the new place. The only hang up in this whole moving down the street thing is that nobody wants to buy the house Denise lives in now.

In mid-2006 Denise bought her current house for about $4M. She then listed the house for about $4.5M because you know that everyone wants to pay an extra 10% to live in a house once haunted by Denise. Apparently there weren't any takers at the higher price. Something about chapstick laying everywhere. So now, the house is listed at $3.9M which is less than what she paid, and probably still too much.

The new house Denise is buying was listed at $4.4M, but Denise felt this was too low and so actually offered $4.6M. Of course it was accepted because everyone else on the street including Denise was lowering their prices. Anyway, here's what she got for her $4.6M. She got 5,651 sq feet and 1.2 acres so there is plenty of room for her dogs.

  1. I saw those pics and thought "Oh that's a nice house, but so big...how's she going to find time to clean that house...oh...right."

Der. I forget that housekeepers exist.

  5. This seems to be a trend. Two of my friends sold their homes last year and moved to nicer homes. One sold hers for 1.7 million and the other sold hers for 1.6 million. Both homes are currently up for sale for over 2 million dollars. Both homes had been sitting for a while, so I think the buyers got them for what they thought was a song, and now they're trying to make 500K off of their investment.

And holy smokes, their houses are the same size as DR's so what they say about CA real estate being ridiculously pricey is true.

P.S. We live in an area where people run from poor to filthy rich. I'm not in the filthy rich category!!

  6. Aren't you supposed to keep a house for at least five years in order to not get fucked on the capital gains taxes? She's not making a profit, but still...her behavior is weird and makes her seem crazy and/or desperate.

  7. @khemenu: not if you have a good team in place which transfers your mortgages and more from the smaller to the bigger price properties. This is for sure the reason she paid more.

Not even her would pay half a mil more without a very good reason.

But generally speaking, this is the assumption people make, because they never buy more than one or two properties in their lives.

if she mortgaged like 80% of the house and makes no income with the estate, what should be taxed?

maybe some part of the divorce settlement requires charlie to pay for the house and offering the extra 200K was just a way to screw him. or maybe she is just a dumb slut.

  14. In what world is it fair that Denise Richards gets to live in a home like that?

But seriously, who in their right mind would buy a permanent home with a swimming pool outside the back door when you are a single mother of two small toddlers??????? WTF..

  17. I must admit, that's a pretty house.
I don't understand the room with the easy chairs all lined up around the long table. Are we supposed to eat in there or is it for study hall or what?

  18. Not that it isn't a nice house, b/c I know I will never live in a house that nice...but the first thing I thought of when I saw the pics was that it seems very "East coast" and maybe a little dated? Like the exterior? But I did also think it looked very "homey" and comfy/cozy (for a big house).

Don't know what that means, but just wanted to share my thoughts!

And as far as the pool, can't they get one of those pool-fence things that are meant to protect children from falling into the pool?
