NY Daily News Blind Item

Which documentary maker had to turn a blind eye to all the call girls that her subject, a famous sports star, was patronizing? "The hookers got better access than I did," she joked Tuesday at a dinner for the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund, a new initiative of the Tribeca Film Festival.

    Getty images has pics of the event.

    So far, I've found one sports documentary producer, Kayce Freed Jenkins, but the doc is on extreme skiing, which doesn't have any names that are recognizable, unless you're into extreme skiing.

    Sheila Nevins is HBO's head of documentaries, but IMDB doesn't have any sports-related ones upcoming for her.

    Also, WTF is Christy Turlington doing there - she's in every pic!

    Rory Kennedy is a doc film maker (she's done films for HBO/Sheila Nevins.)

    Nevins supervises HBO's doc programming, but it's her name that gets mentioned in Oscar thank-yous; an outsider would perceive her as a filmmaker.

    IMDB didn't ahve anything upcoming fro Roroy Kennedy either, but that doesn't mean much. Since she has such a famous name, it's possible this blind is about her.

    I checked out Kristi Jacobson, Barb kopple, Jane Rosenthal, Rory Kennedy, Chris Hegedus, and Serena Altschul - none have any sports figure docs in the works...

    I just looked through the Tribeca Film Festival documentary list for any documentaries featuring sports stars. Here's the list (I might have missed some):

    Cesar Chavez
    Tiki Barber
    1968 Jets featuring Joe Namath
    1992 Dallas Cowboys featuring Troy Aikman

    the sports star would have to be single? she is joking about it publicly at a dinner, if the guy was married, that would be really bad form... namath was known to be quite the ladies man back in the day...
