Four For Friday - Kindness

This week four kindness items, and next week four big jackass items. The first of these is pretty obvious and I made it so because one of them could use some hugs right about now.

#1 - This sister singing duo from a foreign country were performing a show in Los Angeles one time and as usual it was completely sold out. Not a huge place, and as a result there were lots of people who were sent away without getting in. Well, there was a group of about ten girls who were not going to go anywhere and they decided they would at least sit outside the place in the hopes they could hear a few notes at least. Well somehow that news made it to the two wingers and they decided to take the entire group of girls and brought them backstage and let them watch the entire show from the the side of the stage. After the show they posed for photos, signed autographs and gave away practically anything that was giveable.

#2 - This former A list television actor on a very huge super sized hit network comedy and now someone who is trying to find some other identity other than that character either in television or film makes sure that he gives blood every two months like clockwork. He has been doing this now for almost ten years all with no fanfare or attention.

#3 - Wow this actress is the epitome of a B/C lister. Everyone knows her because she has had some great roles on some great television shows and some films. Everytime she gets her own series, it doesn't do so well, but she is incredibly well liked. Right now she is filming a remake/sequel to one of my favorite films of all time from the 70's. I'm cheesy that way. Anyway, when she is in LA, she volunteers at an after school program which helps kids with their homework and to give them adult guidance they may not get at home. When she is filming in a different city, she calls around and tries to do the same thing at other schools on a temporary basis.

#4 - Is this actor A list? Interesting question. He was an A list action film star and then kept giving it all away. Now he is probably still considered A list by definition, but probably more a B. Well in the past several years, this actor has without any publicity given away about $250,000 to various SPCA charities and other pet organizations. Turns out the guy everyone always thinks is a jerk is actually a pretty nice guy.

  3. #1 The Veronicas?

    ReplyDelete
  4. #2 could be Drew Carey.

    All I got right now.

  5. #2 - Jason Alexander

    ReplyDelete
  6. 1-The Veronicas
    2-Jerry Seinfeld
    3-Jennifer Coolidge
    4-Steven Seagal???

    ReplyDelete
  7. #3 - Carla Gugino. She's currently filming "Race to Witch Mountain", and people always seem to rave about her (for good reason.)

    ReplyDelete
  8. My first thought was Tegan and Sara but yeah, probably the Veronica's

    ReplyDelete
  9. I thought of Tegan and Sara for #1, although not sure why they need hugs right now. No clue about the others, but good for them.

    ReplyDelete
  10. 1-The Veronicas

    2-Friends / Seinfeld / Frasier

    3-???

    4-Steven Seagal

    ReplyDelete
  11. 1- the Minogues
    2- Ray Romano
    3- Alicia Silverstone
4- Steve Martin (was in a movie called "The Jerk")

    ReplyDelete
  12. edward beat me to it--I was about to say Alicia Silverstone, but I thought maybe she is a bit higher than B/C kist.

    ReplyDelete
  13. LOLOL!! Ben Affleck and Steve Martin are not exactly known for action films. I was thinking Seagal, too.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think #2 is Jerry Seinfeld.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 2. Matt LeBlanc

    3. Bonnie Hunt

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ok, now that I have seen Random Photos - Ent has told us #3 is Alicia Silverstone

    ReplyDelete
  17. Has to be Steven Seagal--he went to Thailand once to ask them to stop electrocuting the dogs there (apparently that was there nifty way of animal control, at least for awhile). And in one of his movies, a guy dumped a dog in a garbage bag out in the road--of course Steven caught up with him and kicked him in the nuts at the end.

  18. Alanna, I hope you're right about #3! I also loved "Escape to Witch Mountain" and "Return to Witch Mountain". It's funny how Paris Hilton's aunt (Kathy Hilton's sister) played the little girl in both.

I loved Carla Gugino in "Threshold" and was devastated when they cancelled that show.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't know what rock I've been living under but I had NO IDEA Kim Richards was Paris's aunt. I'm actually kind of devastated.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I thought of bruce too but don't think everyone always thinks of him as a jerk.

    ReplyDelete
  21. #3. The House on the Left(1972) and (2009)

    Sarah Paxton

    ReplyDelete
  22. I thought Steve Carell for #2...except that is says FORMER A list TV actor. Now I'm thinking Jason Alexander.

    ReplyDelete
  23. For the #1 Kindness all I can say is...WOW. If you were those young girls you would NEVER forget such an exciting evening.

    That is just awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't think #2 is Schwimmer. He was amazing & very un-Ross in Band of Brothers, which was very successful.

    ReplyDelete
  25. molly - bruce can be a real A-hole to fans.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think 2 is the CSI guy who just left and now I can't remember his name.

    ReplyDelete
  27. marisa - wasn't band of brothers back when friends was still on tv? not much since.

    ReplyDelete
  28. cinephan - CSI is not a comedy.

    ReplyDelete
  29. #2 jason alexander, he seems nicer than jerry s.
    #3 alicia silverstone
    #4 steven seagal totally

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm with alanna for #3 - Carla Gugino.

She's filming a remake of "Escape to Witch Mountain" (from 1975) called "Race to Witch Mountain."

I believe EL has even referred to Witch Mountain being a fave.

Silverstone has really had only the "Miss Match" debacle from TV, while Gugino has had many a TV series fail (unfortunately for both, IMO). AS also has no remade movies in production right now, at least according to IMDB.

Hooray! I got one without even having to do research!

    ReplyDelete
  31. good point captivagrl. i guess b/c i just watched the whole series recently it's been front of mind for me. He should go out for more dickhead roles in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  32. #2 - Matthew Perry
    #3 - Carla Gugino
    #4 - Vin Diesel

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm thinking #3 is someone from one of NBCs Thursday night comedy lineup, likely from a few years back. His comment "a very huge super sized hit network comedy;" during sweeps they always used to "super-size" their shows as a gimmick to get more viewers and make you miss the start of whatever show you might have been thinking about switching over to...

    ReplyDelete
  34. 1. The Veronicas (one of them might need a hug because there are some nudy pix of her all over the internet)
    2. Someone from friends
    3. Sara Paxton or Monica Potter
    4. Van Damme or Steven Segal?

    ReplyDelete
  35. #2 - David Schwimmer for sure - he doesn't do much acting anymore and is focusing on directing because he doesn't want to be cast as Ross.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Alicia did some tv pilots- Queen B, Pink Collar & The Singles Table. Could be her- but Carla Gugino sounds better b/c I don't think Alicia has done a movie in a couple of yrs.

I think Matthew Perry for #2- he plays the same character all the time.

#4 is prob Steven Segal, as someone mentioned above

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh Enty! These are so dahling! I love them!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Alright, obviously the sweet little Veronica gal that is nekkid in some photos needs a little American/Aussie loving.

I also think Matthew Perry for #2. Friends is definitely supersized.

I love Christina Applegate and she is just #3 sweet. Why doesn't she ever get successful? Cameron Diaz and other hacks do.

#4 - I don't think anyone thinks Affleck is a jerk. But it sure does sound like him.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't even know who Carla Guagino is.

  41. I vote Jason Alexander for #2. Truly awesome guy. We have a mutual acquaintance and he heard about a business problem I had and went out of his way to help me!! And I hadn't met him before. Wish I could give you the details because it was a really extraordinary thing he did, but I don't really want to be identified here.

Very generous spirit & heart. Even if he isn't #2, this is the kind of thing he would do.

    ReplyDelete
  42. #2 is clearly Matt LeBlanc. Trying to find an identity other than his TV role? Who isn't trying to forget "Joey"?

#4 I'm sort of thinking Mel Gibson for this. No real reason.

    ReplyDelete
  43. captivagirl i know bruce can be a real asshole to fans but is he known to be an asshole by almost everybody? i don't think so. Seagall on the other hand has always ahd that reputation.

Anyways i still think its seagall.

    ReplyDelete
  44. #2 donating blood. Didn't Matthew Perry admit to addiction to painkillers/pills? He wouldn't be allowed to donate blood in that case.

#4 still considered A list by definition = won Academy Award for Good Will Hunting > Affleck.

"everyone always thinks he is a jerk" because Steven Seagal is a jerk. :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. affleck as an action hero? I dont think so.

A list action stars - bruce, sly, arnold, and steven i would think covers them

    ReplyDelete
  46. #4 is David Spade

    hi, I'm new btw.

    ReplyDelete
  47. re Affleck. True, mama T, but I was thinking of Armegeddon, Daredevil and Pearl Harbor.

Is Seagal Buddist? So the pet charities make sense. I wouldn't consider him "A list by definition" though. He's straight to video these days.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think Lucy Liu for #3, Seinfeld for #2, the Veronica's for #1, and I don't have a guess for #4

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous10:13 AM

Don't forget Chuck Norris (as a former A list action star) or he'll kick your butt!

  51. Steven Segal IS a Buddhist. ;)

Chuck Norris may be able to make water boil by staring at it, but he is a Christian Republican.

    Anyway.

    1. I agree with The Veronicas guesses.

    2. I thought "Frasier" for some reason but Kelsey Grammer doesn't seem healthy enough to give blood "like clockwork", so David Schwimmer works better.

    3. Alicia Silverstone, in part for Ent's comments in the Random Photos. She was on two canceled series- just one never made it to air. Seems like her anyway.

    4. "Was" being a key word. As well as "without any publicity". Seems a very Buddhist thing to do, to give money to animal charities. Segal.

Though the Affleck guess isn't without merit considering the handful of action films he did do plus the clue "kept giving it all away" because The Affleck is a heavy tipper...but who says he is a jerk? Anyone? Segal it is!

    ReplyDelete
  52. In regards to The Affleck, "Gone Baby Gone" is on Starz tonight--excellent movie, & you get 2 Afflecks for the price of 1--buy 1 get 1 free!
shows you what I do Saturday nights....

    ReplyDelete
  53. @Jamie's Girl: Christina Applegate IS successful. She has a hit network show ("Samantha Who?"). She's nominated for a best actress Emmy for it.

To everyone else: the blind refers to the action star thus: "he is probably still considered A list by definition." Steven Segall is NOT A-list anywhere except in his own mind, and hasn't been in decades (if he ever was, and I'm saying that as a formerly huge fan of his). He's off the table. As a big, big action fan, I'm at a loss on this one. Bruce is A-list for sure, but $250K seems so paltry for someone with his bank account.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Nice to see the blinds be about something good for a change.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I want #3 to be Debi Mazar.

    ReplyDelete
  56. 1. The Veronicas

    2. Matt LeBlanc. I think the "super sized" is a clue. Remember when Friends had 35 min "super-sized" episodes. "Super sized" is actually the term that NBC used to refer to the longer eps. Also, he played the same character on two shows and has played the dumb, hot guy (he's not that hot though!) for most of his career.

    3. Bonnie Hunt. Her series are always her own. I don't know if she lives in LA, but she is certainly more associated with Chicago. In any event, the clue implies that the person doesn't live in LA. Only hitch is that she doesn't seem to be filming another sequel to a remake at the mo.

    4. Ben Affleck. Just because...

    ReplyDelete
  57. #4 has to be Steven Segal...everyone knows his name, therefore A-list by definition. That last line gave it away for me.

    ReplyDelete
  58. about the "one needs some hugs right now", just announced Christina Applegate has breast cancer. Sadness. Recover quickly!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Laura, I think the hugs thing is about the first item.

    ReplyDelete
  60. #1 is FULLY Tegan & Sara

    ReplyDelete
  61. YAY for Vin Diesel. I feel vindicated in my lustage now that we know he's a good guy. :-D
