I Know I've Said This Before

Look, you can skip ahead if you don't want to read about me saying a few words about the Anne Hathaway and Raffaello Follieri thing. I was going to leave it alone. I promise. I was reading an article that said that Raffaello wrote a letter to the judge asking to only serve three years instead of the four he agreed to in his plea deal. He is scheduled to be sentenced next week. I imagine he wants three because then he would be out in about 1/3 to half that amount of time. Hell, if he was in California state prison, they probably would have already sent him home.

So, this is my beef. As you know, Anne enjoys the same publicist as Jennifer Aniston. Jennifer Aniston sells magazines despite how much I dislike her and rail against her. Therefore, if you are a magazine it would behoove you to be nice to all of Jeff Huvane's clients if you ever want an exclusive and cover story with Jennifer Aniston.

So, while reading the article on the prison sentencing, I happened to notice this headline in the related section. Anne's Prince Turns Out To Be A 'Conman'. When I read this it just makes it seem that Anne was a victim and that she had no idea what was going on for the entire time they were dating. This is a couple that never went longer than an hour or two without talking. They lived together and were together constantly and she never knew? She was the victim? Raffaello is a crook. No problem with it. Don't know why Kneepads had to go the conman route, but whatever. But the headline conveys an image of Anne desperately in love with a man she didn't know, and that she wanted a prince and ended up with some kind of criminal. I for one am not buying it. I know lots of you are buying it, and that's fine. This blog would suck if everyone agreed with everyone all the time. I just can't stand her high and mighty attitude or how she was a perfect angel in this. She was looking out only for herself, and when the net got tighter, she wriggled free.

Yeah right they were together for how long and she didn't know what a scanner him was.

At TMZ it had a story that Raffaello is now saying that he blames Anne for stealing.

    He is a sweet heart.

  2. Actually he was charged federally and as a lawyer you must know that you serve 85% of your FEDERAL SENTENCE. You can get a few months relief if the crime was mitigated by drugs, but that program is two years inside and you have to be sentenced into it for the most part. Getting a non sentence prisoner into the program is draconian, and can take years.

What his lawyer is pleading is that with a reduced sentence, he will never enter the country again, or be allowed in I presume. But he is asking for some small relief which I doubt the judge will give him.

  3. I have to disagree. She may have had some idea of what was going on, but some women tend to willfully ignore not-nice things about their guys, rather than admit that they got involved with a loser. No one ever wants to admit they've made a bad relationship choice while they're still in the throes of that relationship.

  4. Of course she knew. I imagine they both knew things were coming to a head and mutually agreed that she would "break up" with him.

Anne Hathaway is not dumb. She was paying the rent, remember? She paid his larged bounced checks. She KNEW he didn't have the money he pretended to have and that the planes and yachts weren't purchased by his *vast fortune*. She was simply willing to live the lie with him and reap the benefits and bail him out when necessary.

  5. She either knew or suspected something wasn't right...either way it shouldn't have taken so long for her to get out.......

  6. you think the magazine is the only one at fault? try blaming her publicist. he's the one that dictated the terms of the article.

  7. lets see : you're in a relationship...with a person and live with them..and you don't know that the money they're spending belongs to someone else.....yah right. She loved the lifestyle and if anything looked the other way...a don't ask/don't tell mentality does not excuse her behaviour....or his

  8. It's amazing how clueless a person in love can be. The "spouse" is the last to know, remember? I'm not saying she did or didn't know, but anything is possible.

Her joking about it on SNL was funny. Like she said "We've all been there right, ladies?"

I think she knew about it and turned her head. I agree with all who say that it is amazing what you do/believe for love. It is easy to know something is wrong yet make yourself believe whatever stories your sig other is telling you.
That being said - I am not sure how you can say she turned her head because of love if all the "beard" rumors are true. If that is the case, she turned her head for the lifestyle and then jumped ship once she knew it was sinking.

  11. Faithy, I think it was Lainey who said that even though she often dates girls, she really was into him, so she's bi not gay.

  12. Wasn't he the BI about the guy blackmailing the GF with a sex tape?

  13. Every time Ent starts going off on Anne Hathaway I think back to the time he started going off on Natalie Portman, seemingly random and out of nowhere because hardly anyone ever has something bad to say about Portman. And then it turned out Natalie was the answer to a jackass-style blind.

It just makes me wonder what blind(s) Ent has written or possibly will write about Anne b/c I get the feeling he knows something that goes even beyond this story.

  14. I like how his lawyer claimed that he only embezzeled to keep up with his wealthy friends.

  15. Not to be a nitpicker, but isn't it STEPHEN Huvane? How would an Ent. Lawyer not know that?

Not necessarily. Despite what they believe, lawyers don't know everything. ;)

  17. if it's true that she's gay and he was just bearding for her...then maybe she was paying him and she didn't really know him as well as everyone thinks she did because they only came together for the cameras.

i don't blame her for dropping him like a hot potato once he got in trouble. she wants to distance herself from any bad stuff, but she is definitely milking the sympathy from being the wronged "girlfriend."

  18. You don't know how slick these conmen can be, Ent. Not only is it possible she knew nothing, it's actually quite probable.

He'd want to keep it away from her and the media crush following around after her, and I guarantee you he was able to. They always are.
